JUSTIN.....YOU ALWAYS MAKE GOOD VIDEOS.....EVEN THOUGH I MOSTLY WATCH YOUR 7.3 TRUCK VIDEOS.....THIS WAS A GOOD WAY TO FIND OUT HOW TO REDUCE HEAT IN A PLACE WHERE MOST PEOPLE DON'T THINK ABOUT IT.....B-T-W.....I WISH EVERBODY PAID ATTENTION TO SOUND QUALITY LIKE YOU DO.....TOO OFTEN I AM WATCHING AN INTERESTING VIDEO.....BUT CANNOT HEAR KEY PARTS OF THE INFORMATION.....SEE YOU IN THE NEXT ONE.....
Long time no see Justin! Nice work! Out of curiosity, how many laps did it take and on what outside temps to cook the diff fluid? I have been done a couple of track days on my GR86 but have not noticed any issue on the diff.
@sikrip It was several track days before this happened, in a variety of conditions/weather. Your mileage may vary on when the OEM fluid runs out of life. Mine lasted longer than expected, but it never hurts to proactively change the fluid too (I probably should have changed it much earlier).
Hey, just noticed your Diff-Casing is different to my GR86 for German marked. Casings on german GR86 got quite some cooling fins on the bottom. 🤔 Wonder why did different specs here ?
next time I do my wrx front trans/diff, I'm thinking about swapping in 1qt (33%) of RL gear oil; however, lots of ppl talk about additional wear on yellow metals. At this point, still undecided....
He’s back! Man you been gone so long you grew a stache 😂
@@atpgarageatl haha, took me all these months! 😆
Welcome back Justin!
Who is this? Evil Justin?! Justin's Grandfather!? I have so many questions!

@@TheBTRGarage So the "cooking" was on the stock fluid?
That's correct.
Not gonna lie, i thought you would wrap the header
@Carlos.Rivera That's way too much work 😆
Hey
How about the Cusco diff cover to increase the fluid so there would be more volume to accommodate for heat?
Oh yea, that would certainly help with keeping temps under control as well.
Hey quick question, i was driving my 86 around and heard a clicking sound from the passenger rear, any ideas what that could be?

Oh man, that is nice! I wish ours had some cooling fins, gotta pay extra for aftermarket here if you want that.
Is that tortilla flat at the end?! I was just there
@@Tornkik Yep!
do you also use RL fluid in the transmission or just the Subaru fluid?
@K03sport Yes, I have used it in my old BRZ. I do have the Red Line fluid for my GR86 transmission in the garage, I just have not changed it yet.
next time I do my wrx front trans/diff, I'm thinking about swapping in 1qt (33%) of RL gear oil; however, lots of ppl talk about additional wear on yellow metals. At this point, still undecided....
Justin, Are you still running the OSGiken lsd?
@BadBandar59 I never had one in my GR86, only my BRZ. But, eventually, I will get one for my GR86. I'd be using OS Giken diff fluid if I did have one.
