Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is quite different from most of the early games in the Legend of Zelda series. It combines an overworld view with side-scrolling platform stages. In addition, the character can gain experience and levels, visit towns, and earn spells and items which are needed to proceed.
However, the game also has a large glitch which produces massive speed when both Left and Right are pressed at the same time; due to the use of this and other glitches, most of this run features Link racing across Hyrule so fast that the screen can't keep up, and inexplicably warping between places that shouldn't be connected. Only a few items and one spell are collected, and the only enemy ever fought is the final boss. Luckily, he takes the same amount of damage no matter what level attack you have.
In this run, EZGames69 (tasvideos.org/Users/Profile/E...) improves on the previous efforts (tasvideos.org/3266M) by 0.03 seconds (2 frames), thanks to an earlier first hit in fight against Dark Link.
We also have a run (tasvideos.org/3256M) that completes the six palaces without using the Left + Right glitch to turn the game into a barely comprehensible mess (but does allow the use of glitched warps) and another run (tasvideos.org/3254M) that disallows both the Left + Right glitch and the use of glitched warps.

My favorite part of this is how so many screens start with Link moving at a normal pace for like half a second, then we're flying off into glitch heaven at maximum velocity.
Left and right held, activate TURBO LINK.
The final hit on dark link looked so brutal.

It's amazing how they find ways of making the character move way faster than they should.
You think that's fast, try watching it at 1.25x speed!
One can only imagine what eldritch horror the wizard in 2:31 was seeing.
I'm always amazed at how TASers can find that frame or two improvements.

All these glitches and the thing that made me go "Whoa!" was learning that you can destroy forest tiles with the hammer.
i love how the final boss ignores completely the player's attack power... Maybe it's because dark link also copies the players stats?
The game probably assumes you leveled up enough to get to that point in the game, so there would be no need to increase defenses
It's that way so you still have to hit him multiple times regardless of the sword power ups

@@romajimamulo a tool assisted run like this is frame perfect and allows for some crazy glitches like the 0-0 world where you input the A at the exact frame before the door opens and it starts fucking with values then you enter a door 5 times and you can glitch the fuck out of the game and win fast tas is a huge leap from a 15 minuet run that i belive is the record

Also, DwangoAC is somebody I actually talk too every now and then on Discord. The reason TASBot is a considered a bot is because it is a external device used to make a console preform actions. This encode is being played back on a emulator, which isn’t a external device.
