- Whats up guys, in this video I will be taking you to the age of the pirate, I will highlight Henry Morgan particularly, whose name you may know as Capitan Morgan. And yes he was a real person, and he did go on adventures at sea, he pillaged gold, was in many fire fights and battles and is now immortalized by the brand of Rum, so let's get into the video.

The young man that narrates these has to be one of the cutest guys I've seen in a while, looks and a voice, what wonderful luck for him. FYI there is some controversy as to where Sir Henry was actually born. Some historians feel he was either born at a Morgan Family farm at Llantarnum, Gwent, or at the Llanrumney Hall,
Cardiff, Wales, UK.
Sir Henry is also associated with the village of Pencarn which is situated between Cardiff and Newport.
It is generally felt that he was brought up helping at a relative's estate as an agricultural worker on the land, also historians think that he was well educated as a gentleman.
It is also viewed by some that he was initially press-ganged into service in the Navy and transported to Bristol Docks from his home in South Wales as a result of a night of drinking.
Generally, I think he was quite a tough, tough cookie, he was also very much a privateer and a man of his time.
Different times and all that. 🤔
Let's face it, pirates are not known for being very nice people at all are they? I think you would have to be a certain type of "sailor' to begin with.
However, compared to some others I have read about.😳🙄
I don't think I would personally have like to have bumped into any of them TBH and God forbid the fate of any Royal Navy captain adrift lost out on the high seas who accidentally crossed their paths.
It does appear that there were a lot of pirates originating out of South/West Wales and Bristol during the 17thc.

What such an amazing video! Very interesting to hear about this pirate which I thought was just a brand of rum!. The area of pirates ha always fascinated me when sea battles were a daily thing and the big empires were at war over territory and they used sailors and naval fillets to do their bidding.
I have been to the port of Campeche a s I heard of the city,s raid but didn't know captain Morgan was involved. I have heard that Lotencillo, a French pirat was the leader. Thank so much for the video I thoroughly enjoyed it. Happy Birthday Oli from HP!!.

I've never questioned the captain Morgan name... as I enjoy my occasional rum and coke. Listening to his exploits... he does sound a ruthless character. I particularly disliked him using nuns and women to capture Porto Bello castle?

I've seen videos and read about Morgan and they obviously whitewashed a lot of his crimes, probably thinking people wanted to remember him as the jolly guy on the bottle.

They were probably addicted to the lifestyle of being out at sea, sailing into the unknown and discovering new lands, and of course the thrill of the fight and obtaining wealth, plus their reputation
