Happy birthday Mykaylaaas!

my favorite time of Mykayla's career will always be when she almost fell on beam in college and turned it into a dance🤣
Link to that, please! Thanks!

@@sarahyan8973 thanks!
@@sarahyan8973 Thanks!!! I already saw that clip before and thought it was indeed great. But the vid resolution was not good so I didn't realize it was MyKayla. Thanks! :)
best kept secret: Mykayla never really dial down her routines in college!
I totally understand where you’re coming from regarding flexibility. I’ve always been unnaturally inflexible and have to work three times as hard at it as others. Flexibility is highly dependent on your collagen composition, and many top athletes, particularly in artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, have collagen compositions that not only make extreme flexibility possible, but relatively easy.
Yes! People act like I choose to be inflexible haha. it's really hard
Always wanted to do gymnastics growing up, you popped up on my recommended page, now signed up for adult beginner classes. It’s going to be fun 😂
haha lets go!!!!!!! Now you have to let me know how you like it
😉 good luck!!!
I wanted to start as a adult beginner this year, but because of pandemic I can't :(
I'm hoping to find an adult class. I think there's a much bigger market than most gyms think.
@@wiem_ze_nie_wiem I've learned a lot with RUclips and a couch cushion. Don't let the pandemic stop you!
Thank you for speaking so candidly about this. It's so interesting to hear the perspective of someone who has rounded, high-level experience of both sports talk about the differences between them and be open about the challenges of doing even elite after college, let alone both at the same time. I came to college gymnastics via the Gymcastic podcast and even while they were pushing the idea that's it's perfectly possible to do both at the same time, I was thinking, "well, if that's the case, then why doesn't everyone do it?" I feel like you've more than answered that question! Best of luck for your training, and please do carry on showing us the training videos. I love to hear what Coach Bob has to say, but I also think that in your bars videos you present a really positive example of a woman giving her all at her (let's be frank) probably least favourite event, with grit and a really strong competitive spirit, and showing great improvement as a result. As I said in another comment, you deserve all the good things. Looking forward to seeing you compete in Tokyo!
❤️
“It will all be worth it in the end. Don’t give up” you’re now an Olympic medalist MyKayla! ❤️
I remember Mohini Bhardwaj coming back to elite from college UCLA and she made the 2004 Olympic team.
So interesting to hear the differences!
Happy Birthday!!!!! Can you make a video with Chellsie talking about your comebacks and how it compares to earlier years and to each other?
Yes! A collab video would be awesome!
College gymnastics is just s much more FUN! I really got hooked on it a couple of years ago. I like college better because I have seen so many gymnasts who really come into their own while in college. Elite is just too restrictive and demanding. Good luck Myk. Hope your body is healing well. Praying for you!
Most of what you said, I already knew about the differences, but I prefer elite gymnastics, because it is more spectacular. Thanks for the video.
I have depression and you cheer me up. Thank you for doing videos
I used to be in gymnastics but I have epilepsy so my doctor and neurologist both said I had to stop I miss the gym so much and I LOVE YOU McKalya
So sorry to hear that. I'll train for u!!
I will pray for your healing. I had to quit because of a non gymnastics related injury, and I miss it too.
one of my teammates also has epilepsy. so sorry to hear that
I had to quit gymnastics due to ehlers danlos syndrome. I still miss it so much!
High school gymnastics was a lot more fun than competition. I remember really enjoying the team aspect from the school team.
Happy birthday! I really hope your at the olympics. You definitely deserve it after working so hard.
thank you ❤️❤️
I didn’t appreciate your elite level gymnastics enough but did think you shined bright in college. Love these videos. Keep up the hard work. I hope you make it. I’m pulling for you. Thanks for the videos. Great to watch especially while we have no meets.
thank you for the support 😊
Oooh My Goodness!!!.... 😮 that Quad Double thou!!..... WoW!!..... 👏 so many turns and so fast!!!.... I totally gotta see that in slow motion!!..... 👌😁😝

@@MyKaylaSkinnerOfficial that be awesome!!.....😁
Happy early birthday! You're doing amazing, and I hope you get into the Tokyo Olympics. You got this! You're a real inspiration to me. I do gymnastics too, and on my bad days, I think about how hard you work, and it makes me feel much better. Go Myk!
that means a lot to me!! thank you 💕
@@MyKaylaSkinnerOfficial No, thank you! You are truly an amazing person!
I had no idea in elite you had to run off of one foot! It never really occurred to me there was a rule around why gymnasts would turn on one foot.
im a big fan of gymnastics but never did anything more than classes for a short time when i was 10, this was super helpful! 😎
You were always the highlight at every Utes meet! Thanks for being so awesome!
Hi Myk!! Many Olympic gymnasts when assist to college get lower performance than elite, Actually your performance is really increible now. Definitely you will be part of US Olympic team 😊 regards from Peru
i really love your gymnastics, i love the way you throw your arms back when you're on the beam, love the american cup with Smone biles you competed in.
thank you ❤️
*First, Happy Birthday, Young lady. Second, You are such a strong person, both in the mind and body to be able to get back into elite right after the college season ended. You really didn't get to rest, but I think going back to finish your senior year of college will make it worth your while, since you will be sharing it with 2 of your current national teammates.*
I have come to adore and admire you over the past 3 yrs. You have definitely been under-estimated, and I wish you all the best!!!
I have another month off of gymnastics because of covid. So you really inspired to work outside of the gym!! Thank you so much and Happy Birthday😁
Don’t stress about being perfect! Just do your best, give it your all and I will always be impressed! You are amazing!!! Happy B-lated Birthday MyKayla!!

Happy Birthday 🎉 I am rooting for you!
thank you!!
Just watched this...post Olympics. I feel SO happy for you that your hard work paid off! Olympic team, Tokyo, SILVER MEDALIST! Wonderful! 🏆🥈
Just started watching your channel when it popped up as a recommendation and I'm loving it. I appreciate videos like this. I wanted to be a gymnast but at 5'10" that was never going to happen. Lol. I never considered the differences between elite and college and I have to say I prefer college gymnastics. To me it's more like the early days of elite, like you see in the 60s and 70s videos of Olga Korbut, Cathy Rigby, etc., when it was more about execution and style as opposed to power and difficulty. I feel like todays elite gymnastics is too.....chaotic for lack of a better word. It's funny I say that because Mary Lou Retton was my idol as a kid and she was (at the time) more of a power gymnast compared to Julianne McNamara who was more of a style gymnast.
Fun fact about Julianne McNamara; her daughter Hannah Zeile plays teenage Kate on This Is Us. Anyway, loving the videos and appreciate your openness about your career and all it entails. And the videos where you're teaching Jonas gymnastics is both hilarious and just plain fun. I appreciate him being willing to do that on video. He's a good sport!
Sincere thanks for the 15 min.
explanation.
A++
You're amazing Makayla! keep up the grind!
Happy Happy Birthday! Sending wishes for a special day filled with doing things you love!
Great video, MyK! Loved hearing your perspectives on everything!
Happy Birthday!! I'm rooting for you!!!!
Do you do any yoga? Picking up a hot yoga class a couple days of the week could help a lot with your flexibility. The hot yoga helps you get deep stretching in a shorter amount of time. Love watching your progress and rooting for you in 2021!!
I'll have to give it a try!
Thanks for the explanation! It cleared up a lot for me! :)
Very interesting! Happy Early Birthday!
thank you!! ❤️
Love the clips with the voiceover!
Happy Birthday, Mikayla!
How happy are you, all of the work has paid off in full! It’s so cool you are going toTokyo!!!
Getting more flexible is possible. I was an artistic gymnast in the 1970s. I am 62. I am re training flexibility. Even though I can still do all splits, they didn't split 180 in leaps and various other things. It takes longer, and you need to take breaks from training for a few days here and there, but I am making progress. I didn't notice lower flexibility until I was in my 50s, and didn't really work on it then. Some of your issue could be foods you consume that cause inflammation in your body. You may want to find a good natural nutritionist to help you in that area if you are serious about it.
🎵 Happy Birthday dear Makayla, Happy Birthday to you!! 🎵 I hope you have some time for yourself! Enjoy your day, girl!! 💖🎉
I love the judge smiling watching your tuck double double 😂😂😂
happy birthday mykayla!!!! 🎉🎉🎉
You are my daughter's idol--good luck in the upcoming trials!!! I didn't know how political gymnastics was until I did some research into the 2016 trials. Very unfair--we are rooting for you this year MyKayla!!!!!!!
I feel doing easier skills was hard for you and that's why you did harder skills in college
pretty much
Hard skills 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Makayla has yet to execute a G skill in competition..,
Meanwhile , biles is executing I skills
Happy Birthday!!! Your awesome!
Happy Birthday Myk!!! 🎂🥂 Hope you have a wonderfully super awesome day!!!!
thank you!!
I got to see you compete in Ann Arbor against u of m. You were incredible!
❤️
Love you sm! I definitely think you will be at the olympics💖
thank you I sure hope so!!
Omgggg yes!!!!!! What I wanted to know!!!
Happy Birthday Myk, love you & your bar routines❤️❤️
This is the best video you've done.
Loved the video Myk, can't wait to see you compete again after the pandemic is over!
Good video mykayla skinner and stay safe happy Tuesday .
This is so insightful.
Happy Bday!!!!!
Why don't they just reward hard skills in college as well? System doesn't sound like it makes sense to me.
happy birthday girl!
You r a beautiful gymnast and person best of luck!!!
is it true that some collegiate gymnastic teams look down on you for not celebrating all over-the-top for everyone/thing? i talked to a girl that said she was pretty much shunned for being shy and reserved
Yes, it’s true. I’ve seen other gymnasts talk about this. There is pressure to show over the top support. Even if the girls don’t like each other.
@@Appaddict01 I get showing support because you're competing on a team, but to shun people who are naturally shy/reserved, and are doing their best to cheer on their teammates, is cruel and goes against the sportsmanship they're trying to nurture.
It happens, unfortunately. And then you can also get looked down on for celebrating too much for your own routine 🤷🏼♀️
@@MyKaylaSkinnerOfficial that's so unfair bc i see the guys basically doing football taunts at the end of their routines.
College social dynamics are just stilted in general. And shy folks often get misinterpreted as snobby or arrogant in all walks of life.
I grew up in a family where being proud of myself was strongly discouraged and I often fall into a pattern of feeling judgy about folks who do show their pride (usually well earned but not always).
Congrats on Silver Medal at Tokyo 2020/21 Olympics. You are the bomb!!!
I have watched you for awhile and ur drive is inspiring! U r full steam ahead with ur Olympic dream and I hope u make it! How do u feel about ur chances now that there is only 4 spots on the team ( which is ridiculous btw) , well 3 if ya know what i'm saying? I want u, Chellsie, Laurie, and Simone on the team! Theres my 4 person team!!!
I love how she celebrates her awesome skills like a wrestler. Yes, girl!
Channel intro is 🔥🔥
I think It would be so awesome if you did a podcast! Kinda like what Polina Edmonds does for ice skating!
Happy Birthday!!
You should do more practice videos or skill videos
Love your videos thank you!
You're on the way to 100K subscribers.
Not sure I'm the only who felt this way or not, but 'simplify' would probably be a better word choice than 'dumb down'....
I live in the Netherlands and here people work towards Worlds and European championships. For the US you got Pac Rims as another big meet, right?
You are an amazing gymnast!
I have the flexibility of a corpse in rigor mortis. Any advice for a press to handstand? I hope you say I need to eat more peanut butter pie.
Haha I love this. You should really work on your core strength and pancake stretch on the ground. A pancake stretch is when you sit in a straddle and lean forward as far as you can. Also make sure to LEAN once I learned I wasn’t leaning over enough they became so easy I hope this helps.
@@brodypenn The thing is I REALLY did test as having the flexibility of a corpse 3x. I did it as a favor for a Marine who was taking nursing classes at PSU. Two months later I had to learn how to do a handstand for abet w/ another Marine (if I won she'd get me a date if not I'd have to wear a kilt to her wedding). I managed one very bad HSPU so won the bet.
I know to lean I want to learn this to do an OLT. I'm still hoping MS will say I need to eat more pb-pie.
How do you get the chance to train for the Olympics? Do you have to be invited to compete in the gk classics, championships, etc? Thank you!! Happy Birthday 🎉
I'm not sure honestly, I've always made the national team but if you aren't I think you have to make a qualifying score to go to those meets
@@MyKaylaSkinnerOfficial thank you
Much love!!!!
You can do it!
Happy Birthday!
College does not have a long season!! It’s super short maybe all your training is long but you don’t start till after Christmas in January even and only go past March if your in the top ones and even that ends in end of March to maybe middle of April so that’s not long competing every weekend would be hard definitely but you also do have bye weeks I absolutely love gymnastics it’s my all time favorite and I know you work hard and I love watching you get a Olympic medal and finish your degree 😊
Happy birthday!!!🥰🥰🥰 Question...are you gonna still do your senior year at utah..gymnastics?
There has to be a sweet spot in the hours of training: for elite gymnastics: is there a place where training is more than 4-5 hours a day and less than 6-7 hours a day?
Is there a way to mix in a little more of a team culture into elite gymnastics so that the tension & stress levels are decreased for competitors?
Congrats 2021 Tokyo Olympian!!!
I’d like to know what you think of how Chellsie Memmel is doing, and how she’s training (3 days a week, 3 goes at each skill).
I think she trains 5 days..2 days are for conditioning and strength.
My hunch is weekends off.
@@jerryobstarczyk9605 I mean 2 out of 5 days ..the other 3 she works on skills. Weekends off..most likely.
Happy late birthday!!🥳
you guys should do vlogmas
Wait, that’s a rule that you can’t stand and collect yourself before your tumbling passes in elite? You have to tumble off one foot?
You’re not supposed to stand in the corner. The judges want you to dance into the corner and then immediately run into a tumble.
Yeah you can only stand in the corner with two feet in one of your tumbles, the rest have to go off one foot.
Interesting, I didn’t know that. Thanks for answering
