I added in/lb and ft/lb for your US viewers: Forward facing bottom nuts are 10NM (88 in/lb. 7.4 ft/lb) and bolts are 22NM (195 in/lb. 16 ft/lb). Main outside cups (50NM, 442.5 in/lb, 37 ft/lb) Reverse thread bolts are 8NM (71 in/lb. 6 ft/lb). Rear VANOS bolts 10NM (88 in/lb. 7.4 ft/lb)
Una cosa que no hice fue quitar ese cilindro hidraulico.en cuanto pueda tendre que cambiarlo.ese cilindro es para todo el circuito o es solo para la admision y el otro cilindro es para el escape?
I’ve certainly enjoyed the rebuild walk through. Thanks for sharing this. A question, however; shouldn’t you use petroleum jelly or light coating of motor oil during the Vanos rebuild? Oil and silicone spray don’t mix.
Thanks! About the silicone, there are a lot of oils which are containing silicones in them, a lot of OEM oils. So I highly doubt it will cause any issue. But yeah, if you use assembly lube or any type of engine oil, will still do the job done.

Hey. very cool technical video on engine rebuild . I am interested whats is your calculated static Compression ratio and dynamic compression ratio.? And what fuel are you planing to use ? and offcurese what power figer you are aiming to ?
The engine is going to run the stock CP 10,2:1 with stock cams, so the DCR is going to be pretty much stock. The only performance ( increasing HP ) part installed in this series, is the cylinder head, which is ported. This will lead probably something around of +20 hp region. After some time, the owner will decide if he going to install the G Power compressor kit, which he bought
hello there..i got e46 325i I'm having a problem : vanos exhaust side end position not reached. when i scan using bmw scanner 1.4 I thought because of the bad O ring vanos then I decided to buy a vanos O ring kit and do the vanos job. then i did a reset timing by a bmw specialist repair shop at my location. Previously I also found that my exhaust vanos oil gate was stuck and I cleaned it when I tested it can move freely again. the first time I disassembled the vanos there was no oil pressure in the exhaust vanos but after I cleaned the oilgate and I disassembled the vanos for the 2nd time there was oil pressure in the exhaust vanos. but now i'm still having this problem. Can this be caused by a labored ex cam sensor? I'm stuck with this problem thanks in advance
How important is replacing the o-rings on the plastic caps? I rebuilt my VANOS recently and couldn't get those caps all the way in with the new o-rings (like you at 38:15), so I just used the old caps (with old o-rings). Is it worth taking the valve cover off again and try to replace these plugs with new o-rings?

Здравей! На М54Б22 имам проблем със студения старт,с играещи обороти, педала на газта преди да загрее реагира бавно, в ниските обороти колата не набира като за 170коня. Смених свещи, бобини, картерна вентилация, ламбда сонди, горивен филтър, почистих дюзи, но проблема е на лице все още. Остана само реновиране на ваносите според мен, дали е това? Има ли вариант да се чуем да обясня по подробно, да ми дадеш някой съвет? Просто вече останах без нерви. Благодаря предварително!

You can lose some oil pressure in the vanos units, which can lead to bad operation, it is up to you to decide.
