    Never thought of splitting the black poly to act as a clamp. I keep all the scrap pieces of black poly as well. Comes in handy when you need to make a quick repair.

    Slick setup! They say every layer of poly lowers it 1 zone. I like that it’s vented as well.

    That’s a great set up and hybrid fruit to grow! I only grow determinate tomatoes in central Tx . I get a spring crop and plant seeds again in July. Lizzano x heatmaster hybrids.

    You mentioned using a layer of chicken litter. Will you comment more on that? Is it aged at all? Does it contain straw or shavings, and if shavings what size? (I use the larger size from Tractor Supply) And for further clarification for us backyard gardeners, are you sifting the manure out?

    • @LickBranchFarms
      @LickBranchFarms  3 месяца назад

      Sure, the chicken litter I use comes straight from the chicken house, it is aged about 60 days, we grind it through our chipper then spread it onto the beds before we mulch.No straw or shavings, just 100% chicken poo.

    New subscriber. Looking forward to the tomato update next week. Ace hardware in our area has the garden tone on sale for $6.99 a bag that is regularly $12.99

    Great video! How wide is your bed for the tomatoes? I was thinking 30" wide for mine, with double spacing of plants like you did. Keep'em coming!

    I like what your doing. We got our high tunnel last year so we are on a learning curve. I may give this a try. Thanks for sharing

      It’s a learning curve for sure but everything grows better in a tunnel in my opinion, good luck!

    Will you use additional fertilizer besides the Gardentone later in the season?

    • @LickBranchFarms
      @LickBranchFarms  3 месяца назад +1

      Yes once they start to bloom I will use almost zero nitrogen and more potassium and phosphorus

      This gentleman is dialed in on his ferts/ soil conditions,etc. Generally the soil has everything added months before growing

    Interesting. Can you share where you got your high tunnel from? I am in the market for something similar right now.

      We purchased it used from a market customer. It was not used for many years and in bad shape. We took it down and relocated it to our farm, lots of videos of the assembly last year, check them out.

    What black mulch do you use?

    • @LickBranchFarms
      @LickBranchFarms  3 месяца назад

      It’s actually compost, it’s heavy on the mulch side so I refer to it as mulch

  • @Daddyo_farms
    @Daddyo_farms 4 месяца назад +1

    Is that just dyed black mulch from like lowes

    • @LickBranchFarms
      @LickBranchFarms  4 месяца назад +2

      No, it is composted wood chips and leave litter.
