Must have been a really good used car to get enough to cover the cost of a wedding.

Isn't the bride's family supposed to pay for the wedding?

Not anymore. Nowadays both families or just the couple might pay for it.

Harsh lesson, crap parents, but if it is in someone else's name it's not yours. Goes for houses too.

So what happened to the sister? When did the OP move out, and when did they get a replacement car?

I would've just not gone. Save them some money for a seat of catering.

Same you’ve always been strong trope. Makes it ring untrue with that one phrase.

Did the artistic middle sister drop off the face of the earth? Or did she just become inconvenient to the narrative?

So 2:44 in and I have to ask, why is the groom's family paying for the wedding?

More money? Or Different culture? The old rules aren’t the same anymore, and sometimes the families don’t help at all. The couple pays themselves.

@@quix66hiya22 I get there are different cultural traditions concerning weddings but in KANSAS, were the story is set, unless told otherwise I think it save to assume a form of Christian ceremony. No mention of the bride's family being involved in the wedding planning at all, the bride does not even get named in the story.

Wow! Your parents suck! They bought you a gift then sold it for your brother? That’s cruel! If your brother couldn’t afford a wedding he should wait until he can! Your parents only care about your brother! Now they want more money from you? Oh, hell no
