Great game! I still remember when my corner store had the arcade version. This game can drive you nuts though as you often run by the gems rather then pick them up... kind of like Alien on Atari 2600!

The arcade game had a level called "The End" (first board of Level 10, I think). Win that board, and you won the game … and it would cause a freakout of the system after you entered your initials.

This looks great. Cool looking bear for the 2600.

I played this game when I was a kid. Frustrating but fun! 🐻🍯💎👍👍

I felt it was frustrating but not fun. Reminds me of Marble Madness which was a little better, but also frustrating.

This looks surprisingly good for a 2600 game.

This is one of those games that everyone seems to like but I never cared for.

Yeah, I kinda like the game now, but I now some people just rave about it.

It's currently 148/261 so is in the bottom half. That doesn't mean everything in the bottom half is bad.

This is one of the few games I find myself revisiting again and again, trying to reach higher levels (which becomes increasingly harder). Was always impressed with the variety of mazes, characters and music. A great port, even when it does not resemble the arcade that much. Definitely one of my favorites.

Atari Trakball came out relatively late, so Missile Command for Atari 2600 wasn't programmed ahead of time for it (while the Atari computers were, since that's how they played it in their shop). I suppose Centipede isn't set for it either. But perhaps by 1984, both Millipede and Crystal Castles were for the 2600?
For those who don't know, a track ball is basically like a mouse: the faster you move it the faster your cursor goes, as opposed to a joystick which is one speed.
I wasn't impressed by the games they released in 1984, except for Star Gate, which I still haven't got. Apparently, you use the second controller for the other three buttons including hyperspace and smart bomb.

I played this a lot as a kid. As mentioned, some of the best music on the 2600. I remember playing this on one of the early Flashbacks and the music wasn't there, which was disappointing. Overall, a good title on the 2600 that I would rank in the top 50.

This looks terrific graphics-wise. Not my favorite arcade game-- and it seems like it would suffer from not having a trak-ball. But I would definitely like to give it a go on the 2600. Your score here was impressive. And I *love* Polaris-- so if this is better, then it's a must play.

Lol, well I can't guarantee you'll like it more than Polaris, since it sound like you like Polaris way more than me!

True, but shooters are probably my favorite genre overall. Anyway, taste always comes into play in these things. I appreciate your opinion and especially a chance to glimpse the gameplay. As always, NSG, I greatly appreciate your videos. You're maybe my favorite person whose face I've never seen. :)

Suprising , I have never played this game . Didn't Bentley Bear end up in an Atari Jaguar go-cart game later on ? Great review !!!!

Technically impressive, what they managed to squeeze out of the old VCS, but there are things one shouldn't try e.g. porting Crystal Castles to the VCS (or Ikari Warriors or Commando or Double Dragon or Zaxxon .... or Halo). It just can't work. Ar least nobody tried Marble Madness. instead they should have tried Frenzy or Robotron 2064 or Asteroids Deluxe or Pac-Man .. wait
