I love this game and the 2600 version may look very different from the arcade, but it keeps most of the arcade elements and even sound effects, etc. This was among the last games I bought for my 2600 back in the day but I remember hunting it down once I knew it had been released. I wish this could be hacked for a true Trak-Ball mode but, apparently, it would need a complete rewrite to accomplish that.
I recently found your channel and I am enjoying the content. Crystal Castles has always been one of my favorites. The original arcade cabinet was extremely well designed. And just like you stated, the programmers did a heck of a job replicating the arcade version.
I really love the graphics, the sound, and the general way the game plays but I never felt like I ever had good control of Bentley in the arcade or Atari. Maybe Im just really bad at it!
I might as well offer my full opinion on this game: there is more than a 100 Atari VCS games I would say are wonderful go-to games very playable, great fun, and very addictive to keep replaying, this game isn't one of those type, imo. Great review thanks. Like the box, and cartridge label art.
I bought this version as a kid and only saw the arcade version some fifteen years later. I was disappointed with the color scheme of the arcade version. I like the mysterious atmosphere of the 2600 version a lot better.
One of my favorite games
The last game for the Atari 2600 I bought EVER back when I was 12… I’m 46 now

I have this for my home console and played it many times but does get to be challenging passing on to more levels once the gems are collected

The nutcracker music when you read the story.....🤣❤️
Now this is a game for teddy bear mode 🐻.
The arcade version is going to be on the Atari arcade cart for the Evercade if they ever are able to ship.

Wow, that cartridge looks brand new.
Excellent considering the lack of power in the 2600.
"That's a witch? It looks like Ireland" hahahaha, I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything.
Awesome game!
