Tata’s concerns should be more on quality than volume. Its true that they are trying to make space for future products but if the present issues with the electronic and software glitches continues, the word to mouth experience of the existing customers will hamper the minds of new customers and thus will make it difficult for tata to convince people to buy their new products.
I think this moment of “vocal for local” is a great opportunity for local players to create an impression that their products is no less than any product of international standard and can outgrow the foreign players in respect to product quality. In this regard Mahindra has really been utilising this opportunity. Even the Australian market is appreciating their product against big players but tata is only stepping up with its EV’s and it needs to transfer this same experience in their ICE products.
