What have you been watching recently?

Arcane
Titane
the humans, its really good
Dune and Arcane.
Absolutely loved The French Dispatch. Packed with so many great little performances, lots of chuckles, and oh the visuals and production design! Looking forward to to piecing through the details in the background with future watches.
What I think the Cowboy Bebop live action should have done is try to research more into the anime mech and Space Opera genres, especially before 1998, to get that unique feel the anime had. Watching a Gundam show made in the 90s would have went a long way since Cowboy Bebop anime and Gundam were produced by the same studios and it's not a stretch that a good portion of the animators and creative talent did work on Gundam, mech, and space operas shows.
For CP...they made Vicious from ex military, cold, ruthless and calculated into a whiny emotional tantrum teenager. For what? It was cheap money grab and it shows
5:52 "A minimalistc Miyazaki-esque time travel story" Mamoru Hosoda. You are thinking of the lesser but equally great Hosada-san. I found Petite Maman closer to works such as the Girl Who Leapt Thru Time and Summer Wars in terms of family and relationship strengths to say the least.
The Power of The Dog, my god amazing!
Hellbound is compared to leftovers and children of men, now I'm so interested
I was pleasantly surprised by Cowboy Bebop!
Completely agree with you about Cowboy Bebop. I loved the original anime and "Tank!" has been my ringtone for literal years; I didn't particularly *want* the adaptation but now that it's here, I thought it was fine. It looked good (neon colours always look cool), the actors did their best (John Cho was indeed too old for Spike, but his performance was good), it was mostly faithful to the original material, and less sexist/ more diverse than the original. Some choices were kinda baffling, like most of Vicious' storyline/ characterization, but it was still an "it's fine" show. Nothing mindblowing and not a new favourite, but I had fun watching it. Definitely not unwatchable trash, and definitely something I think people should judge for themselves.
It's funny that I watched this video today right when Netflix announced that Cowboy Bebop is cancelled, guess there's no point in watching it then
Wild Indian and Blue Bayou. Don't miss them.
French dispatch was really good. I think I would’ve loved the film more if I resonated more with the characters without sacrificing Anderson’s style. But it’s clearly a showcase of a master exercising his style to his maximum capacity
Coment for the algo! Spencer went under my radar - keen to check it out!
I just don't understand how Netflix thought a 50-year-old guy was perfect for the role of Spike. Stay away from Bebop. Anime is anime and it should NEVER be live-action.
I liked the story about the artist and the story about the chef a lot☺️
No take on Arcane yet..
Definitely watching Spencer
comment for the algorithm!
so, i kinda like netflixs death note as "so bad its good", theres just so many baffling and goofy decisions. however, netflixs cowboy bepop ended up just kinda... boring. watched it with 3 friends and after the second episode we went back and rewatched some of the anime haha. i still havent passed episode 3.
hellbound goated, but really made me think about what goes on in some of these directors’ heads…
Idk, it really lacked in terms of characters or villain development. It was solid, but nothing closed to goated.
@@RevJ7 i feel that the character development - or lack thereof - perfectly encapsulates both the existential and absurdist themes from the show (displaying how no matter what you try to do after being ‘sentenced’ to hell, it ultimately makes no difference)
Where the heck can I watch the French dispatch?! It never came out in any of the 10 theaters that are around me in Birmingham Alabama.
I'm going to have to disagree with you on 9 Days. It was like "What if After Life (1998) had a manic pixie dream girl who taught the main character to live laugh love?".
Give that first episode of the Netflix Cowboy Bebop a shot. They aren't tryna just replicate the anime, they take some of their own liberties that honestly make the adaptation extremely watchable. A bit cheesy here and there but watchable if you're not tryna compare to the anime every second.
I disagree with that "They arent trying to replicate the anime" when some scenes are lifted straight from the anime and its sequel movie.
@@CaseNumber00 Keyword in your sentence - "some". Inspiration and complete replication are two very different things.
make another doomed romance please!
Hellbound was OK, but a bit of a disappointment after Squid Game and Midnight Mass.
I watched the first ep and was bored. The creatures aren’t menacing at all, they just look like big gorillas. But if you enjoyed parts of it, thats great too!
@@ergoblaze The whole thing was pretty boring to tell 'ya the truth, but I hung in there hoping it would pick up. And yeah, those gorillas were pretty lame. lol
As someone who disliked the final halves of both Squid Game and Midnight Mass, that makes my expectations even lower for Hellbound..
Really didn’t love the French Dispatch. very underwhelming for a massive Wes Anderson fan, I’m happy if anyone reading this enjoyed this!
I really like your take on bebop. Its not good, but its got great stuff that makes it okay. I think some fans dont know how to process it and gravitate to extreme reactions. Its honestly okay, its own thing from the anime. But that last episode is strictly booty cheeks, skip that.
.
Spencer is really good if you watch it on mute
