I think the park set was a bit better, but only because literally everything in that set was super useful for any normal city scene, while not everything is going to have beachfront or be set in a tropical environment. As an actual set itself, both are great. This still has plenty of goodies in it.
how about "fun at the museum" set? with a teacher and some kids, having a tour. And a janitor, because why not. And a scientist, because..... well, everything needs science!
Splendid review. Personally my main issue with the set is the amount of figures with bathing suits. Lego has not made enough of them in my opinion, especially in the case of a set specifically set on the beach. I do love the new pieces in the set, especially the kayak.
If you look the new dolphin has much more "system" styling to it. They try to use less rounded shapes in the big fig and animal models in the main lego line this helps the figures blend with the simple shapes of the mini figures. The friends line and mini dolls however are nothing but complex curves! So it makes sense to me that they would make a new dolphin. We will likely see more of both dolphins in the future. (Compair friends horses to minifig horses to see how different the same subjects are rendered in the two styles.)
Awesome lego set!!!!! Great for increasing the population of a lego city. I dont like that minifigs wearing life jackets has their head "floating" on top of the jacket though.
Just bought this yesterday for 18 bucks at my city ( 374 pesos here in méxico ), and it just has so many small details that make me amazingly happy to have it
I think, The lobster should be Black/Dark Blue, to be more realistic.The red Version worked for The Batman minifig, only because that lobster was cooked and therefore turned red. But an Alive one should be in a more blackish/blueish Color.
If Lego are doing triple molded legs for the shorter legs, why don't they make the shoes a different colour? That's what I'd like to see in the future.
I hate the new life jackets they use now, I wish they would have kept the old ones from the late 90s-early 2000s. The head looks awkward on them because theres a giant space on their neck

My favorite part about this set is definitely that lime green hoodie torso, I probably won't be buying this set because I won't use most of the parts, but I will be trying to get my hands on that torso in particular. Great review, can't wait for next year's fun in the whatever set! :D
Fun at the camp would make more sense because Lego won't build a museum when the set is based on minifigs, not a structure. Same with the carnival and the mall, though now that I think about it, the fair could work...
fun at the camp could have a tent build ,a campfire build, a picnic table build,lawn chair build,possibly the skunk from the mini figure series,maybe a snake,oh! you can have a fisher with a generic fish,and of course your generic minifigs a and possibly a park ranger
fun at the fair could have a small snack booth build , an arcade machine build,a claw machine build , an umbrella and table build,a game booth,a rat,and of course your minifigs oh and maybe someone wearing a mascot suit you know like the animal costume or you could do a clown.
The new dolphin definately looks better to me. But i don't understand why of all the animals they could choose from they chose to remove the minipeg hole on the head of the DOLPHIN. aka the only lego animal that actually SHOULD have a hole on his head. How else am i supposed to fit the earphones piece on him to communicate with Keanu Reeves?
few months ago I made my own voly ball new using the net thing and sign posts I'm glad this is a thing it can allow me to have my beach more populated as I don't have much "beach" people so some was just there having a picnic
The old guy with metal detector is really cool! Love the face with glasses. This set is nice (even if actual buildable sets are more interesting in my opinion) but "Fun at the Park" was more innovative with the baby and wheelchair. In 2018; Fun at the Mountain?
from the looks of it the new dolphin piece has the same connection point as a minifig torso so techncially you can put on minfig legs :D or other minifig lower torsoes like mermaid fins naga tails and even octopus tenticles and ghost vapors:D
I think this Lego set might go down in price between fall and winter since its a set based in the summer. Im guessing since its 40$ it might go down to 30$ or 25$ but this is what I think
4:30 and 8:21 I got this set for Christmas, and the torsos dont look as bad as on camera. Or maybe I got a better copy? I dont know, but it looks worse on camera than in real life
Biggest disappointment for me about this set is that only 6 of the 15 minifigs are wearing shorts rather than full trousers. The 3 wetsuit figs I can understand but the others just don't say "beach" to me!

This is actually brilliant; these sets are a way for people to get large numbers of generic minifigs, just minifigs, easily and effectively. Furthermore, its a whole set of different minifigs as apposed to a limited selection like you get with the collectible series. I can see these being very popular sets. Smart move by lego.

Magic Bricks Because the parrot ( bird ) piece was made in 1989 and they have to change it for some reason. Maybe because of the too long use of it. 🐦

A mistake by Lego to use red plastic for the torso of the rescue lady. It would have been way easier to use yellow plastic with red printing.
