He just amazes me - I always expected he'd be a big man - like, at least 6-ft tall. But that huge, huge incredible voice comes out of smaller guy. I just shake my head in amazement. I could listen to that voice forever.

I saw Jesus Christ Superstar in 1993 in Cleveland. Dennis DeYoung played Pilot that year. It was the start of a stronger conversion journey to my faith and God.

Have loved this version of the song since he recorded it. This is one of those times when a mere “thumbs up” on a video is nowhere near enough!
Ted is one of my favorite performers ever. And one of the most amazingly wonderful and kind men I’ve ever met.

when I was a kid and that was a long time ago. my mother had me sit and watch Jesus Christ super star. I remember her having to hold me when Pilot began to flog Ted( At that time I had forgot it was just a show. I forgot that it was Ted and Not Jesus that was being hurt.) I was screaming and crying as if my heart had shattered to pieces. All I wanted to do was get into that tv and kill pilot. How dare he touch Jesus, my Jesus??? At this time I knew a little about Jesus but not much and my mother wanted to find some thing that would help me understand who our savior was and why he was so precious. This show..this wonderful perfect show that had Ted Neeley portraying Jesus did it for me. As they yeas went by and I grew up and had my own children, I gathered them all in front of the tv and we watched this show. Now??? I go out of my way to watch the show at least 10 times a month and I adore Ted's voice. I have never heard anyone with such power and so such beauty .
I thank God that he brought this man to all of us. I for one love you

I've seen Ted many, many times since his first tour through Pittsburgh about 1975. I was hooked and he's still the best!
His name was Pilate, although he may have also had a pilot’s license, I’m not sure. He could have flown mission in the Roman Air Force when younger, since many military personnel go into politics, so it’s possible. I can’t see one thing wrong with that theory.
Pilot, Judas, Caiaphas, Anaius, and judge judy were a puppet's of god ....that's why you cant blame them. They were doing his bidding....they just didn't know it....I like In JCSS, Pilot had a conscience about it...between Pilots dream and in the flogging he gave him a chance to say something...he would not.

I've loved this man ever since I first saw him in Jesus Christ Superstar way back in '75. He's still great even in his 70s...I remember the first time I saw that Rock Opera; but I also got to see him in person at the Vets Memorial in Columbus, Ohio a couple of times. I still have one of the programs that he personally signed for me and I'll treasure it until I take my dying breath! The man who plays Judas now is good but I do miss Carl Richardson; his dynamics in his singing was wonderful! He was one of a kind, just as Ted Neeley is one of a kind as well. Love you, Ted!!
Oh gosh I just found this. How special is this guy!!!! I am in Australia and remember him from the JCS movie. Ted Neeley you were fabulous then and still fabulous now. Loved Yvonne Elliman too . What a treat seeing this. Thankyou for sharing.
She was Mary Magdalene in the Jesus Christ Superstar motion picture . Ted Neeley played the role of Jesus Christ and is still doing it so wonderfully well today. They had a reunion recently in a European country That I just found also. Just beautiful sound they all make
Maggie M in Oz too bad the late Carl Anderson could not be with them anymore. Leukemia took him way, way too soon. Ted’s tours weren’t quite as good without Anderson’s magnificent voice. The bar that Anderson set for the role of Judas in the 1973 movie has still never been matched to this day, much less topped. Neely and Anderson together created the best shows ever. I was lucky enough to catch Ted’s JCSS tour on three occasions back in the 1990s, twice with him and Anderson, which was mind-blowing. Ted has had many great singers play the part of Judas since, but no one can sing those parts like Carl could. RIP Carl, we miss you.

Good heavens. I'm in tears. I love this man, and I've been a huge fan since I first saw Jesus Christ Superstar in the theater when I was just a kid. What a voice, at 79 years old. Just amazing. As much as a love Ian Gillan's performance, I think I prefer his.

Thank you Ted and Frank for making such a wonderful video - the message comes across loud and clear - we are one under God and we should love one another as he does us. This is absolutely amazing!!!!!!!! It gave me chills and goose bumps and the church is stunning! Way to go!
I have always loved this song. My favourite of all the Christmas carols/songs. Didn't think I could love it anymore...until I heard Ted's version. I don't believe any version now can surpass Ted's.

Amazing! This is the first song I've heard Ted sing after SuperStar. I love Super Star and have the album and video and listen to it frequently! SuperStar came out when I was in High School and i was blown away when I saw it in the big screen and still i am blown away by Ted's voice to this day! I was lucky enough to see Super Star Live with the great Ted Neeley! He is so amazing and hit every note perfectly- Which is amazing because a lot of singers can't continue singing the high notes and melodies like they could in their youth.. perfect example is Elton John cant sing crocodile rock anymore. Ted is just amazing! Even at his age going strong still singing superstar and hitting every note perfectly- But Wow! I hear a song like this and it blows me away as well as Super Star! I can't wait to do more searching on more songs Ted Neely has sang and have them as part of my listening collection. May God bless your Ted Neeley- may you continue to glorify Him and may you have every good and perfect gift that comes from the father of lights. You are much loved by this fan!

This is absolutely awe-inspiring. I love it. The best version of any I have ever heard! That high note makes me go all goosebumps!

I didn't realise I had it. I'd been up a couple of hours, tidying up and stuff. Then the phone rang. When I went to answer it, I couldn't speak!! I think I caught it from a friend who visited me last weekend. She was a little unwell. Anyway, I keep struggling on. How are you coping, my friend? And how is Irene coping with it all?
