I've loved your playing for a long time. I avoid the usually word "perfect," but this seems perfect to me. As I understand it, Mendelssohn wanted these pieces to approximate the human voice on a basically percussive instrument. The legato, gentle touch, tone colors, phrasing--all of this--would have made him very happy, I think. I've tried, but it's really too beautiful for words.
Lovely, thank you, I think it takes real subtlety and sensitivity to bring out the quality of these pieces; it was Gillels' recording that first made me realize how good the best of them really are.
