    Cool to see another video!
    Just one thought I had:
    - I'm no legal expert, but I've heard that incorporating in the US means you have to follow certain laws, the most prominent example being that (I believe? I could be wrong here) you must hand over user data to the government if requested by authorities. Just food for thought.

    • @tomazzaman
      @tomazzaman  5 месяцев назад +4

      Honestly, I have no idea (yet), but I'm sure the lawyers will advise me well if it came to that.

    • @Daniel15au
      @Daniel15au 5 месяцев назад +8

      This would be the case in a lot of jurisdictions, not just the USA . If a company receives a subpoena from local law enforcement, you have to comply with it. You can't just ignore the police. The usual solution for user data is to store as little data as possible - just the essential data you absolutely need. You can't hand over data you don't physically have.

    1. At the end you said US based company. Why did you choose the USA?
    2. Did you consider the tax implications of the country of incorporation?

    Looking forward to the next video. Good luck!

      1. The biggest investor(s) come from the US, the main target market is also there, so it made sense, logistically. Well at least in the long run :)
      2. Yes, of course, to great lengths.
      3. Nope, not yet, but will ask the attorneys and accountants whether it makes sense to look around for that. I'm not too hopeful because the ownership is completely out of US. Will report back once I know more!

    Monolith Networks sounds good, good to remember. You can use 2001 soundtrack in advertising :) There might be some negative meaning to it in IT world, not sure if this is relevant here. Maybe you can play with the word a bit - ’Lith Networks. Ah don’t mind me.

  • @lis6502
    @lis6502 5 месяцев назад +1

    As for company's name i wouldn't limit myself to "X-networks" or "X-systems". While it's surely OK to produce windows and doors while your name suggest that you're producer of wires (we have this situation in Poland ;d) it works for known brands.
    I'd rather put my bet on some generic name but referred to my current line of products in company's slogan or key letters.
    For instance, if you're after "monolith-something" but currently being interested in network market, stick to just "Monolith SK" and use letters to form catchy slogan (imagine boxart of your product) like
    More
    Networking
    Lighter
    or
    eMpowering
    Nerdy
    Labs
    :P
    This way if you ever want to pivot on something different (keep in mind that youtube was ment to be dating service) you can use the same principle to be recognizable while not being held hostage in realms of decade old business idea. Furniture? Making New Livingspace. Food? Meats areN't Luxury :P. Automotive? Motosports Like Tuned.
    Other way is to include founder's initials into name but good luck with something catchy out of TZAT :P

    • @tomazzaman
      @tomazzaman  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hm, actually, that makes a lot of sense. In all honesty, I'm not too worried or focused on the name itself, because it's fairly easy and straightforward to either rename the company or simply make up brands and brand names that belong to that company and share nothing when it comes to names.
      I'll keep this in mind! Thanks!

    Monolith je priklical asociacijo na razvijalce računalniških iger, igranih zdaj že nekaj desetletij nazaj. Čeprav temu nisem posvečal neke podrobnosti, verjetno zato, ker je dobro ime. À propos, izdelek ne bo zgolj high-end tehnika, ampak tudi, jasno, kos izbranega dizajna, a bo tudi ta tehnika enkrat npr. zastarela. Sklepam (laično seveda, sem softveraš, ne hardveraš), da bo izdelek tako ali drugače upošteval ali predvidel pravico do popravila (right to repair, podjetje v ZDA). Recimo, da lahko zamenjamo pokvarjeno elektroniko. Če bo na neki točki, ko bo ta elektronika postala zastarela oz. bo na voljo zmogljivejša, mogoče elektroniko zamenjati z novejšo in ohraniti ohišje ... mnogi so že poskušali (čeprav ni analogen primer, npr. Googlova Ara, kakopak prinaša dodatne komplikacije, probleme in stroške), a imeti (subjektivno) lep, zmogljiv izdelek, ki je hkrati še popravljiv in nadgradljiv (future-proof), potem je to filozofija, ki diferencira ta izdelek v morju drugih. Tipkovnica je bila dokaz, da je mogoče marsikaj. Vso srečo.

      @tomazzaman  5 месяцев назад

      Hvala! In ja, sem precej velik zagovornik righ to repair, ceprav obenem tudi "izdajalec", saj si lastim kar nekaj Apple naprav :) Skratka, kot lahko vidite, bom kar se tice samega dizajna, tako PBCja kot tudi ohisja precej transparenten in si celo zelim navdihnit cimvec "hackerjev", da se bo z napravo ukvarjalo na hardverskem nivoju in porocali nazaj, da jo bomo lahko se izboljsali.

      As far as I can tell, it mostly has to do with the predictability and familiarity of their corporate laws and courts. A lot of investors *require* incorporation in Delaware for this reason.

Delaware, don't sue me) be careful not to encounter and especially touch Elon Musk because that is 77 years of bad luck. Unless you have some hidden emerald mine in Bled. AFAIK, you need to be an "accredited investor" under US law. This is to protect the public from risky investments. See www.sec.gov/education/capitalraising/building-blocks/accredited-investor for the requirements.

    Came for nerdy content few weeks ago. Will stay for investments and shareholding details with nerdy background;d
    Whole idea of explaining to us mortals what's in between idea and new device on the market is fascinating as you often hear that one had great idea, some magic dust was sprinkled and *poof* appreciate my kickass-o-tron 4000!!!!1
    Here it doesn't sound very straightforward but what's of actual value of this blurb is that founding fathers can solely focus on their idea while "outsourcing" so to speak legal stuff with minimal effort of decision making to lawyers and at the end of the day all the concepts of shares, making agreements with participants CAN be actually grasped by regular Johnny (or Jozef i should say 😅).

      What I'm a big fan of, is either delegating or outsourcing. And I learned this the hard way. After you burn out a couple of times for trying to do everything yourself, you realize not every battle is worth fighting as it's easy to lose the sight of the bigger picture.
      And since I'm not 25 anymore, that becomes even more important. Healthy body -> healthy mind -> healthy relationships -> healthy business. In this order.

    Damn, Monolith something would of been cool but there is already a company in the US that might contest having a similar name 😅: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monolith_Inc
    Kryolith?

      US trademarks are usually industry-specific. A USPTO search will tell you what category of goods and/or services a federally-registered trademark covers.
