True for me as well. I discovered them at a time where vampires and evil beings were being romanticized, and I was so happy that finally god’s warriors were the center of attention.
Hey Emma! you said in your video that it was okay to share our journey regarding this series, so here I go. I was never much of a reader. I come from a super religious family so they thought anything other than the Bible was wrong to read. Because of family issues, I was forced to go into a foster home and grew up there since I was eleven until I reached adulthood. In the room I slept in, there was a second closet and it was full of the stuff the last girl had left prior to leaving for college. She had four thick books stacked in a corner and they were the whole Twilight series as well as The Host. I had no idea what type of book it was or anything specific but I remember loving it so much. I went to the library after I was done and figured I'd ask the librarian for more books like that. She literally embarked me in such a journey I still am in today. She told me about a book series that had recently come out, she said it was called The Mortal Instruments. For christmas I begged my step-parents to please buy the whole series for me (I trusted her counsel) and I still recall sitting on the floor at one in the morning opening up City of Bones and feeling so excited. I was not allowed to have a phone or computer or any device really so books really kept me afloat. Cassandra Clare created a world for me that became my home. Even now as I'm older and live on my own, I still feel that love. I'm so happy you got to meet her so many times. it's truly a blessing. thank you for sharing your story and I hope you get to mine
I literally love Shadowhunters soooo much I can’t wait for Chain of Iron, also they are so underrated I swear I’m the only person in my year at school who has read them
I think that now it is underrated due to the show... Let's be honest: it's horrible 😅 I had ti stoo watching it because it would ruin my knowledge of the shadowhunters world
samee i started the mortal instruments in mid june finished the whole series & now im on the 2nd book, lord of darkness, for the dark artifices, i absolutely love these books
Ok ok, so I really really love these books and the Shadowhunter chronicles are some of my favorite book series ever. Also, can I just say that Raphael Santiago is one of my favorite characters and deserves so much love and affection and praise??
I came across city of bones in a book shop and picked it up. I started reading it to my grandad. He wasnt well at the time. The start of the week we began city of bones and the morning he passed away we had finished city of glass. Finished at 5am I dozed off and my alarm work me at 5.20am and he was gone. I to this day still havent forgive myself for falling asleep. I continued on the series but it was so hard and City of heavenly fire was due out that year. I wanted so badly to finish the series but also didnt want to as it felt like i was finishing the last thing we ever shared and end the link with him. So when city of heavely fire came out I ignored it for ages. I bought it the day it came out but I couldnt bring myself to read it. I spent most of the time i did read it in tears. 2021 is the year im going to reread the whole series and remember the fun we had with me reading to him.
I started reading them when I was in 8th grade too! I've already watched City of Bones by then, but I didn't know it was based on a book series. I saw Lady Midnight in National Bookstore, fell in love with the cover, and bought. I decided to bring it at school to read during break periods, before I even do, my classmate saw it, and we realized that her book, City of Bones and mine were from the same author and same Chronicles. She's read all of TMI already but wasn't aware there was a Lady Midnight. We decided to exchange for a while, so the first book that still got me to the Shadow world had been City of Bones. I won't forget her, she let me borrow her paperbacks, and it got me in my element so much, reading on them instead of online. Good old times.
You know, it's funny because City of Bones is actually the book that sparked my love of reading again and introduced me to the type of books I love to read.
I always feel so lost because I’m so entrapped in the shadow hunters saga but I don’t know a single other person that also enjoys it. I’ve been desperate to get my hands on the Waterstones editions as I just want to have the special ones cause they mean so much to me, it’s like my own special world to get lost in but they’re all soo expensive to buy 😂 This was such a nice video to watch, thank you!x
I just want to thank you for getting me into the Shadowhunters series, and having me find out more about the universe because I found you channel looking for reviews of the first three books, after I watched the movie, at the time I thought those were the only ones available, and now I am certifiably in love with all of Cassies books, I've read all her work and loved, and still love, it to pieces. Cassie is my all time favourite author and I found so many amazing books and authors because of you. Thank you for giving me the same type of comfort you had with TMI in TDA when I was in senior year. I will forever be grateful to you for that.
Also, we need to applaud CC for being so great to you BUT ALSO FOR HAVING SUCH DIVERSE CHARACTERS. AKA, Kieran, Magnus, Alec, Helen, Diana, Aline. ❤️❤️
I've literally just finished the Mortal Instruments! I'm reading the Dark Artifices now, and I just love listening to your videos about the series! I found your channel with your how-to guide on reading the series, and that was so accurate! Thanks again, Emma! -Maya
I started reading the books because of the City of Bones movie too!! Watched it on a trip to the mall with friends in high school, someone else had already picked the movie we were gonna watch but ended up loving it and decided I had to read the books😂
Hi I’m Elliot and I am 16 years old. Here is my shadowhunter journey: Back in 2017 I read City of Bones like three times and I didn’t have money to buy the other ones and my library only had the infernal devices. I didn’t pick up TID because my friend said “it’s my favorite series your not aloud to read it” Flash forward to maybe the end of 2018 I discover booktube and I watched a LOT of videos and made my own that I just never posted. Then I discovered yours and watched all your shadowhunter videos over and over and over. Then this year I watched for like the third time your “How to read the shadowhunter Chronicles” video. So I started City of Bones in March and have been reading them since. I’m now just waiting for Chain of Iron. And during 2020 I have watched more of your videos and purchased all of the shadowhunter books. I have also made a shadowhunter wishlist and made a book Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram. Because of you and not being friends with that girl and quarintine I fell in love with Cassies books. Finally I hope to someday collect more shadowhunter merch and books and meet you and Cassie. I also really hope to win giveaway number 1. I’ve been looking for those editions forever.
Shadowhunter fans really chose the best fandom to be obsessed with, because Cassie clare won't be done releasing books for a while Edit: my goal in life is to one day meet Cassie clare, the shadowhunter books literally mean so much to me.
Did you know that after Cassie finishes writing The Wicked Powers, there aren't gonna be any more Shadowhunter books. This will be after Magnus and Alec's adventures book series
We were introduced to the series in the exact same way!! I loved the film so much I went straight to the bookstore and got my first copy, 2013 was literally the best! The series means so much to me and i'm still obsessed to this day
the shadowhunter series mean so much to me. all the series are really really great and i especially love 'the infernal devices' 💖💖 it's really good to hear your story💖💖💖
So, theses books have never been my favorite, but just hearing how much you love them and what they did for you made me start to love them a good bit more 🥰
I adore chatty videos and I resonate so heavily with how much meaning these books (for me, it's especially TMI) have had in my life in such dark times! ive been a fan for 11 years now and tbh that's the longest ive ever been loyal to any sort of franchise / series. no other books have reached my heart as TMI does and by extension the whole Shadowhunter chronicles. watching this video made me so happy!!! seeing anyone be so passionate about TSC makes my heart very very very happy. Makes me want to reread TMI even tho I just finished them again like, last month lol!
Hi! I known this saga trought the movie in 2018, and I was so impressed that when I discovered that it was based on a series called Mortal instruments, I, that love to read, couldn't help to adventure in the shadowhunters' world! Since that, I have been completely invested and passionate by shadowhunters'books, also thanks to you and to your channel that helped me to orient myself and to know better this world! I'm glad to be a part of this community and that you have decided to share with us your passion
The pure love and joy of Emma just talking about the shadowhunter series just makes me enjoy each video even more. Your channel has been such a major support for me and I can't thankyou enough. :)
I actually came to know about Cassandra Clare's books The Shadowhunter Chronicles thanks to the Shadowhunters TV show on Netflix. I watched all of it beginning of last year, became obsessed with it, got a HUGE crush on the whole cast, and ultimately decided to read the books after binge-watching all your Shadowhunter related videos. I started reading them in August and finished reading the ENTIRE Chronicles in December. I'm quite proud tbh. I can't thank you enough for all the information you gave in your videos 🖤
You are the reason that I read the Shadowhunter books in the first place!!! You always said how much to loved them, so I gave it a try!! I know have read them all and Cassandra Clare is my favorite author! I will always be thankful to you that you showed me this whole world!! Thank you!❤️
I started the Netflix original because one of my favourite actors from Glee was playing Magnus Bane and I thought it looked cool. I started researching about the show and I found out that it was based on the book series. I actually looked up the reading order for these books because it was hella confusing. This is how I ended up discovering you as a Booktuber. I was already familiar with Jessethereader and polandbananasbooks but your video stating the many different orders is what helped me start. I then ordered the first and second books in the series. It turned out that I really liked the two first books. I ended up getting City of Glass for Christmas last year (2019) and I read through it in a few hours. I then ordered Clockwork Prince. I convinced my boyfriend to read the books and my best friend. I've only been a fan of this for a little more than a year but I truly love it. The series has really changed my view of things and I look forward to ordering City of Fallen Angels. I truly want to thank you, you are one of the people on booktube that has helped me grow into the reader I am today.
The hunger games was the book that got me into reading!! I remember reading city of bones in middle school 2012 after the hunger games trilogy, it was my escape. Still love them till this day. Can’t believe I’m turning 21 in 2 weeks! I wish I discovered book tube back then cause no one liked books, but I found it in 2020 and I’m in love!
It makes me so happy to see your love for The Shadowhunter Chronicles and even though I've been following you for a while, so I've witnessed a lot of this happening on your channel as it happened, it's so cool hearing you tell the story in one video. For me, I first read the books about 10 years ago now, I was about 15 and I'd just finished Twilight and The Hunger Games and was desperate to find another series to love. I think I'd seen TMI mentioned on Tumblr at some point but the movie wasn't being made yet, it hadn't even been cast, so I mostly found City of Bones by just seeing it in the book shop and seeing that Stephanie Meyer had blurbed it, so I picked it up. One night I asked my sister what I should read and gave her 2 options; she picked City of Bones and I was hooked right away, I ended up binging the first four books and became so obsessed. I went online and somehow found out about a Cassie Clare signing happening (I somehow wasn't savvy enough with the internet to discover that TID existed yet though, so hadn't read them haha) and was so pumped and got tickets to the signing. I ended up going with my dad (I was a bit of a loner) and it was my first signing. It was a bit overwhelming because I had no idea what to expect and I didn't expect so many people to be there, but it was such an amazing experience; Cassie was so lovely and chatted with me about my favourite characters, took a picture and drew a little vampire Simon in my book because I told her he was my favourite. I've since met her twice more, I wish I had been able to go to more of her events, but her London events are always so packed and my anxiety is just too bad that I don't end up going, but about a year ago, me and my mum won tickets to a special small event in London with her and Holly Black and it was so amazing. Once again, she was so nice and listened to me as I told her how much I loved Ty and how I could relate to him because even though I'm not autistic, a lot of his habits and actions are how my anxiety manifests. Since first picking up the books I've convinced my mum and sister to read them and I love being able to connect with them over something so special to me. I know this comment is getting super long at this point haha, but I just think the Shadowhunters books are so special; individually, they're so special to each person for specific reasons to them, but they have touched such a huge community of people who all connect through their personal love of the books. At the moment I'm rereading City of Lost Souls, which I've always considered my favourite, and 10 years on, I'm still in awe of these books (and will continue to read whatever Cassie puts out and I feel no shame about that). Every time I return to the world, it's like returning to old friends. All of the characters feel so real and they evoke so many emotions from me, it feels unreal sometimes that a book series can make someone feel so much. I haven't got a Shadowhunter tattoo yet despite having other bookish tattoos because I'm not totally sure what I want yet, but the books mean so much to me that I definitely want one in the near future. Anyway, if you've read up to here, thanks and sorry haha. Thank for being such a fun and amazing Shadowhunter fan 💕P.S. When I first read the books, I was totally neutral about Alec, but now I would die for that sweet cinnamon roll, I think he has the most AMAZING character arc and I just get so emotional thinking about how far he has come.
Hi, so my shadowhunter journey actually starts with you. I started reading again last year because i found your channel so that's pretty great. So my sister had the box sets of TMI and TID because she liked the TV show. She never ended up reading them but I was binging your videos during lockdown and I thought I would give it a go. I read all of TMI, then moved onto TID. I was unsure about TMI but fell in love with TID. I live in England and was supposed to go to a trip to london to see all the locations but that didnt happen, because we just had another lockdown. Anyways I then read TDA in July and then read all the anthologies and novellas. I love it so much its ridiculous. Especially Jem. Anyways since then I have re read TID twice, but lent my set to my friend so I cant re read them during lockdown oops. I had to get TDA and CoG on libby but have now got the physical copies so I re read CoG and am re reading TDA and am on QoAaD. Thank you bye :))
I was so happy back then because kind of in the same boat no one I knew read like me and you were the only person I found who shared my love for the movie and books and I would come home every day and see if you had posted on Instagram and RUclips . My whole RUclips journal started with you as I searched shadow hunter videos and yours came up and I was obsessed. You also have got me through a lot as I also have an eating disorder so I feel like you. We’re really the only person I could relate to at all. No one else in my life really got it what I was going through.... so thank you Emma for being an inspiration and a light to so many and being open about your mental health and just thank you,!!!
Girl i discovered your channel 3 months ago and all I can say is "thank god". You ARE the best booktuber. And I'm totally in love with your bookshelf!! It's amazing💖
Okay but all of this is fantastic. The outfit, the makeup, the background is all on point. Points for aestheticism. And I really loved this discussion of shadowhunters and what it means to you even though I personally am not into that particular franchise. And also, I do get the whole wanting it to be exactly like the book. I personally don't agree, or get that feeling, and I actually want change in an adaptation. I am of the very small group that wants this, and I think part of the reason is because I did experience an exact adaptation. I also really felt so uncomfortable. It was just weird seeing the exact text by text on screen and I think it was the fact that it was essentially the same thing but in a different medium. It was a good movie, but it honestly made me a little nausious. And for the record, this is something I also grew up with.
I think you inspired me to finally read Lady Midnight! I've had the entire Dark Artifices Trilogy sitting on my shelf for almost a year and never got round to it so thank you!
You have been the first Booktuber that I have watched and even anticipated videos coming out for! You sparked my passion for reading again and convinced me to actually read the Shadowhunters Chronicles; like yourself I started with watching the movie and as luck would have it I was able to pick up 10 of the books (TMI, TID and the Bane Chronicles) at a book sale for $20 total, hardcovers and all! Over the past year I have picked up most of the extras and even a couple special additions to start my own collection (even though I haven't read them all yet) Thank you so much for what you do!
I adore this video! I first read the Shadowhunter Chronicles in 7th grade and I still get excited over them to this day (I’m in grad school now). My best friend watched your videos a few years ago and told me you like the books and I didn’t have friends irl who’d talk to me about them so it’s actually the reason I subscribed to you! Always love seeing Shadowhunter content from you :)
The shadowhunter books literally got me into reading more (TMI first of all), got me into collecting books and booktube. They are forever untouchable and number one in my heart 😌 (and I can watch you talk about them every video lol)
The Shadowhunter Chronicles are some of my all time favorite books, and a big reason I started reading them was because of your channel. I can't thank you enough for introducing them to me, they have had a huge impact on my life. Also I'm planning on doing a reread of all of the books this year and preparation for Chain of Iron, and I can't wait to watch all of your booktalks again while the books are newly fresh in my mind!
I'm also a huge fan of the Shadowhunter books 🥰 I started watching your channel because you have such a love and respect for the series! I also love that your favorite series is TMI haha most people love TID. I love both, but I will always love TMI just a little bit more. It was one of the series that really formed my love of reading. A fun little note! I finished my Master of Arts in English in 2018, and I wrote one of my class papers on City of Bones and the importance of the different spaces in the book. After completing that class and finishing the paper, I got accepted to speak at a graduate conference at a different university where I got to talk about City of Bones in an academic setting ❤ I agree fully that Cassie's books are extremely impactful! I am so excited for Chain of Iron 😍
Dregs Readathon was AMAZING. Ain’t gonna lie, I only made it through month 8 and to this day I’m still stuck on Clockwork Prince. But I’m definitely interested in getting back into the Shadowhunter world. It’s incredibly captivating. But WOW 2018!!! I feel like I haven’t been a BookTube stan for that long but looking back... I think I’ve been an avid follower since 2016 which is just CRAZY to me. Much love and support Emma! 😭
I've been reading the shadow hunter books since 2015. I got one of my friends into them this year, so I decided to do a reread of all of them with her which got me out of a major reading slump. I'm is glad to see you talk about counterfeit, they're one of my favourite bands and I was so sad about the break up but I'm excited for Jamie's new solo music.
Gosh I loove your outfit and makeup here, absolutely stunning!! And thank you for sharing your entire Shadowhunter journey, Emma!😊 Over the years that I have been following you I have been hearing bits and pieces, but it's wonderful to hear the entire story!~ It is also thanks to you that I got and started reading The Mortal Instruments in the first place! Thank you! 😻 And overall, thank you for everything you do, for the fandom as well! You are a wonderful person and booktuber! Always a joy to watch you!! ❤️ P.S. never forgetting the seelie court dance! 😂 I live for that video haha, have rewatched it quite a few times! 🤣👍
I have the same problem, in bookstores the selection of english books is very slim so I usually ask the person who works there if I can order the english book. I could just order them online but I want to support our small independent bookstores.
@@thepoeta I totally understand, when I go in libraries it's only French and Arabic books because it's totally normal to have hundreds of dictionaries about all kind of languages even dead ones but you can't have one English book
@@soltanar3014 Yeah it's a real struggle, with libraries it's even worse because they don't keep up with new releases like the bookstores do (I think they do keep up with books in my native language, but I only like reading english because translations feel very dry)
I don’t comment much on RUclips videos but I wanted to tell you that you’re aura is so beautiful! I know this has nothing to do with the content of the video but you seem like such a genuine person and I really admire that! You look so comfortable in your own skin and comfortable with who you are and I can’t wait to feel like that too!
Your channel helped me get back into the Shadowhunter Chronicles! I started them when I in middle school but never finished because it was months after reading City of Fallen Angels that I got a copy of City of Lost Souls (not really sure what happened there, I loved the books but waited months to get the next one 😂). During Quarantine, I started watching a lot of RUclips and I started getting recommendations for your Shadowhunters videos and it led to me picking up Chain of Gold and dive back into the world and instantly fell back in love and proceeded to read them all.
Honestly I really needed this. I have a tendency to forget why I have accounts devoted to books and this reminded me it’s because I love them and want to talk about them thank you
Its crazy watching this and realizing that I have been subscribed to your channel for 3..4.. years now and remembering all of these things happening or you talking about them. Also how I discovered your channel, read Clockwork Princess because of you and was immediately pulled out of my reading slump. I participated in the readalong but sadly not all of the way through. I have almost all the Shadowhunters books now, some even multiple copies of the same book, I've met Cassie a few times, I have planned.. I plan to finish my reread of them all this year and catch up. It's mind-blowing how much of these books by Cassie have done for people.
I feel the same way. I remember being like 13 going into the library and picking up City of Bones. From that moment I was hooked! These series will forever stay with me and they are incredibly important to me! It was so nice to watch this and feel the exact same. Just a massive smile on my face!💖💖
I love the shadowhunters chronicles and Cassie sooooo much! They literally saved my life, they gave me something to connect too when I felt so alone and gave me the courage too keep going on. Because of this series I met my bestfriend, was introduced to more books and became part of this amazing community!! Cassies books have defiantly changed me for better and have been one of the main sources of love and happiness in my life!!
Either way, if I win one of the giveaways or not, I just want to thank you! For many years booktube to me was an escape as well, I wanted to discuss books, but never had anybody around, and seeing you flare up with this passion for a series I too enjoy dearly I can't hold myself and wish to read more, and more. I am relatively new here, though it's been a couple of years now, it means so much to me to see people enjoy the things they do with such passion that I before was so afraid to show. Thank you so much for that inspiring and Cassie's words about you are completely true, you inspire. I wish one day to have a booktube channel and discuss books, and perhaps even get to know you, right now it seems like a dream and I'm too frightened, but perhaps one day. And until then the best of luck to you
after a year long reading slump, I decided to try to get out of it by picking up City of Bones last month for the first time. in the past four weeks, I have now read 9 Shadowhunters books (my all-time reading record for 1 month). I have fallen absolutely in love with the world and I don't plan on slowing down any time soon. I have spent way too much money buying all of the books so that I can have a pretty Shadowhunters shelf but it was worth every penny!
This video was so nostalgic 😭 Remebering not only all these Shadowhunter moments but also remembering seeing the videos you made at that time!!! and sharing your Jamie Campbell Bower obsession 😂
I always loved hearing you talk about The Shadowhunters! I LOVED the City of Bones movie, I went to see it twice in fact, I was just so deeply touched by the story, it just consumed my mind. That soundtrack is one of my all-time favorites as well ... it was just so amazingly done and I'll truly never be over the fact that there won't be more movies. LOL! I really liked Lily and, well, Jamie needs no introduction on my love for him, lol. I started reading the series, and really loved the first 3 books but the rest, back then, I read but they didn't hit me the same way. I've basically been living my Shadowhunter love through you! LOL! I will give the series and the other series of her books another try at some point - I think now, with the way the world is, I'll enjoy the escape into the world of Shadowhunter much more!
I read TMI first in 2017 when I was in grade 8. I loved the series so much that I searched up a guy from our class and forced him to become my parabatai (although that lasted for a few days and I despise him but eh) I actually read TDA and TID during THIS Christmas and I absolutely LOVE them. Actually, I just recently got to know about booktube and got into your channel mainly because you like TSC. Thank you for sharing your experience with us, your passion seeped out of the screen and kickstarted the blood in my veins (-_- why am I like this) Anyways, I really wish I was there for your TSC reread and video chat with the participants, I would have loved joining in.
The Mortal Instruments was honestly the series that kept me reading. I had just started my reading journey in middle school and had picked up another series before the Mortal Instruments and I loved it, but I was worried about picking up other books and disliking them. Then I saw a trailer of Shadowhunters the show and I watched the movie, and saw it was an adaptation and pick up City of Bones right away. I remember reading the first three books in a week during lunch break and at home.
Cassandra Clare is my favorite author and her books are my all time favorites!!! Loved this video. My journey started in 2016 and I also watched the movie first, and when I went to see if it had a sequel, I found out about the books. I read them very quickly and fell in love immediately!
I just want to say thank you sm for this video and all the others you do❤ xxx Cassie's books were what got me back into reading (even though I was told I couldn't read those sort of books because I'm dyslexic, which is ironic because I love reading). They got me through a difficult patch in my mental health then and continue to now. It was because of these books I found your channel and im so greatful I did for you are the first person that made me realise reading isn't 'geeky' or 'antisocial'. I enjoy and resignate with the passion you display when talking about books and you have helped me get into books I probably wouldn't have picked up otherwise. I'm just starting Uni doing psychology and I wanted to say thank you because while the past year has been hard, your video's have kept me and others smiling😊
your like me. it was the film that got you intested first. that is do cool and great. i so so wish they had contuied with movies. i did enjoy the tv show but the movies. totally better.
Dear Emma, I just wanted to say: wow, what an amazing journey do you have. My Shadowhunter journey actually started with you! Your video about your Shadowhunter shelves you posted 4 years ago. I've been a fan of you and the books ever since! The way you talk about books, not just Shadowhunters, but about books in general, made me so passionate about reading and actually made me a reader. So in many ways you changed my life for the better! I've never loved anything more than reading and because of you I found that little spark that lights up my day! You inspire me and motivate me to read new books. So I've been a fan of the Shadowhunters books for 4 years, but I didn't know the Dark Artifices existed (just like you didn't know about the Infernal Devices😉). I only found out about the books after Lord of shadows came out! I was to late to buy those beautiful Waterstones copies of the Dark Artifices, so I hope I can win the giveaway. When Cassie announced the Last Hours Waterstones editions, I gave myself a second chance after buying Chain of Gold. I was to late to buy Chain of Iron and I cried for two days straight (seriously😣)! And to be completely honest I cried when I saw the prize for the giveaway as well, because you give me a third chance (and third time's a charme, right😉). I don't know if you'll read this, maybe you never will, but I just wanted to show you my love for you and your channel. How you changed my life and how I will be forever grateful❤ Love
I love this series and have loved it for years! I read it first when it was a couple books in and kept up with it fairly consistently! I'm so excited for the next books in The Eldest Curses and the Last Hours series! My very first tattoo was a set of 5 runes (Angelic Power, Truth, Knowledge, Manifest and Equilibrium) rising from old weathered pages and a few months later I got "Facilis Descensus Averno" under it on my upper arm, and I have plans to get all 3 of the Mortal Instruments on my forearm essentially making my arm a dedication for the show, lol.
I first found shadowhunters through the TV show, more specifically Malec (i know..i know) but this series has helped me and guided me through life, and really forced me to find myself. Just like you were, i was alone my entire high school life, so reading these books helped me feel not so alone. Reading through Alec’s journey with his sexuality, Helen and Aileen, pushed me to finally be comfortable with who I am as a person. Not only do I love the world, but the relationships between the characters genuinely changed my life forever.
i remember reading shadowhunters about 5 years ago, when i was 12/13, and i remember bonding so much with my best friend who had watched the tv show. i remember not liking the book at first, maybe because i didn't pay attention to it much, but i remember reading it once and then again, and again! i've read all of the 3 series so many times, and i found your channel after reading the books and i've been a fan ever since :)
I love the shadowhunter chronicles!! I'm so so so so so so so so excited for the wicked powers!! Whenever I feel down I just remind myself that the wicked powers are coming out in 2 years 😊
Happy 7 years on RUclips Emma! I’m so glad I found your channel in 2016 and you convinced me to read The Mortal Instruments when I was in 8th grade because you and the shadowhunter world have brought me so much joy over the past four+ years!!
Love this video soooooo much! I read all of TSC this year for the first time and I AM TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH THEM! That wouldn't have happened without you, thank youxxxx
It’s actually crazy how long I’ve been with these books! I think I was 12 or so and now I’m a sophomore in college :’) shadowhunters have been such a big part of my life
I just got into reading after 3 years and your videos helped a lot! I stopped bc my dad passed and I missed out on a lot, one thing that helped me was the shadow hunter series on Netflix! It is my absolute fav serie and I really want to try the books! I sadly cant afford them but it’s always fun to see your videos and your love for them! I hope I win something and even if I don’t I’ll always love your videos! I live in the Netherlands and a lot of times giveaways are only US based so I’m really happy everyone can participate!❤️❤️
Now, my Shadowhunter journey started this year as I was going through a hard time COVID and non-COVID related, and because you always said that the Shadowhunter Chronicles helped you through a hard time I decided to pick them up. It was one of the best decisions I made in 2020, all thanks to you, as it was like having a second family
I cried like four times watching this. Lol I’m just really happy for you. I love this for you. I’ve not been subscribed long but you’ve convinced me to start my first of her books. Thank you!
Not to be emo, but your experience meeting Cassie the second time was exactly my experience with you at both the Again but Better launch & Book Con 2019. I was also 18, and the attentive & caring way you treated me meant the world. I felt like a peer rather than a fan. Thank you again ❤️❤️❤️
I have an emotional attachment to the tv series because that's HOW i discovered shadowhunters and then straight after watching them i found you and thanks to you i found out that there are books and ordered the city of bones straight away and while i was waiting i watched all your videos you're amazing (and i can honestly say, the series in pretty bad after reading the books lol)
You are the person who really inspires me to start reading City of Bones (which I haven't done yet - but I will)! I have the hardcover version in English but my mother tongue is Finnish. And I was glad to notice that you have the paperback edition of Luukaupunki (= City of Bones) on your bookshelf. The Finnish hardback edition is prettier but it has the same cover than in the English hardback edition.
This video was just amaizing.. i love so much Cassandra Clare.. her books, her ideas, the way she writes.. I admire her so much.. I don't know i just watched now your video and i became so much emotional, i felt every word you said and every feeling you want to show us! Also i love your tattoos so much!
You're the reason I started reading the Shadowhunter chronicles and now it's my favourite series of all time. Thank you so much for introducing me to these books. Your channel means the world to me.
I discovered the Mortal Instrument series around 2011, when City of Fallen Angels got out. I loved the series, had to wait two years for City of Lost Souls and the movies and still loved it; and when City of Heavenly Fire got published in 2015 in my country... I couldn't remember a thing 😂 It took me four years to start a re-read, but here I am. Almost 10 years later, still loving the world, even though I "only" read TMI - I got TID and TDA for christmas, so I can continue with the books. One thing the shadowhunter books taught me: don't start a series unless you know that a) all books in it are published or b) the last book in the series is coming out soon. Otherwhise you will be always re-reading books.
You inspired me for the second time! Growing up I was never a reader. I never read anything other than poetry as a teen. About a year ago I came across one of your Shadow Hunter videos after watching the TV series and you completely inspired me to read. I read the first two books and got so overwhelmed with booktube suggestions that I ended up reading 90 books in 2020. Seeing this video inspired me to continue on with the series! I loved hearing you talk about your love for these books and how they helped form you as a person. Super excited to continue the series!
Can we just take a moment to appreciate her makeup LIKE GIRL YOU GOT SOME SKILLS
My thoughts exactly!!
Imagine if you'd watched We're The Millers instead 🤭
That movie is hilarious
I loved that movie
Maybe we’d be watching EmmmaMillers right now 😂
I'm getting my first ever tatto this month and it's a Fearless Rune that I've wanted for 6 years now and I CAN'T WAIT
Congratulations🥰🥰
Congrats! That's awesome!
Congratulations good luck I got my first one in September and was so nervous but literally didn’t feel a thing
You go!
I want that one so much too
The shadowhunters saga mean so much to me. They really impacted my life when I was at a really bad place. I don’t know where I’d be with out. 💕
Same the shadowhunter series is basically the first book that made me love reading
True for me as well. I discovered them at a time where vampires and evil beings were being romanticized, and I was so happy that finally god’s warriors were the center of attention.
Same
I just love how Cassie basically watched you grow up. It's so heart warming in a way
Hey Emma! you said in your video that it was okay to share our journey regarding this series, so here I go.
I literally love Shadowhunters soooo much I can’t wait for Chain of Iron, also they are so underrated I swear I’m the only person in my year at school who has read them
same! ahh chain of gold was so good.
@@bookishyandereweeb8176 honestly it was!! I used to sit in the middle of PE when we were meant to play netball and read it 😂

I think that now it is underrated due to the show... Let's be honest: it's horrible 😅 I had ti stoo watching it because it would ruin my knowledge of the shadowhunters world
I started City of Bones because of you March 2020! I read the whole series, tid, and tda during quarantine 🥰 soo excited for chain of iron

Me too!

Ok ok, so I really really love these books and the Shadowhunter chronicles are some of my favorite book series ever. Also, can I just say that Raphael Santiago is one of my favorite characters and deserves so much love and affection and praise??
That's so true. I love Raphael. He is my favorite character.

I’ve been reading Cassie’s books since 8th grade and they are the reason I subscribed to you! So excited for Chain of Iron
Same!! (I'm 17 now :) )
I started reading them when I was in 8th grade too!
GET THE BOOKMARK!!! 😂😂 I cannot believe it’s still there and from this entire video.. all I can think about is that bookmark.
I immediately went down into the comments to see if someone had suggested a magnet wand to get it out!
I KNOW! It's breaking my heart lmao
Tysm for this! So fun and exciting and always keeping it real! ♥♥♥

I hope you read and enjoy The Infernal Devices. It's just incredible! I could not read Clockwork Princess fast enough!!!
I started reading the books because of the City of Bones movie too!! Watched it on a trip to the mall with friends in high school, someone else had already picked the movie we were gonna watch but ended up loving it and decided I had to read the books😂
I watched the video and am still mulling over when you said, you'd get a 2 hour lunch period in high school
Hi I’m Elliot and I am 16 years old. Here is my shadowhunter journey:
Back in 2017 I read City of Bones like three times and I didn’t have money to buy the other ones and my library only had the infernal devices. I didn’t pick up TID because my friend said “it’s my favorite series your not aloud to read it”
Flash forward to maybe the end of 2018 I discover booktube and I watched a LOT of videos and made my own that I just never posted.
Why would your friend not allow you to read a book?
@@merlin5407 I have absolutely no idea. She also teased me. (She’s obviously not my friend anymore.)
Shadowhunter fans really chose the best fandom to be obsessed with, because Cassie clare won't be done releasing books for a while
Edit: my goal in life is to one day meet Cassie clare, the shadowhunter books literally mean so much to me.
Did you know that after Cassie finishes writing The Wicked Powers, there aren't gonna be any more Shadowhunter books. This will be after Magnus and Alec's adventures book series
@@JT-dw5yu yah I know, I'll be dieing of agony that day😭😭😭
Ikr, it'll be the same condition for all Shadowhunter fans
This is so nostalgic to watch because I think I found your channel during those city of heavenly fire videos. Love this video so much!!
We were introduced to the series in the exact same way!! I loved the film so much I went straight to the bookstore and got my first copy, 2013 was literally the best! The series means so much to me and i'm still obsessed to this day
the shadowhunter series mean so much to me. all the series are really really great and i especially love 'the infernal devices' 💖💖
it's really good to hear your story💖💖💖
I still love the movie so much.... I'm so mad there was never a sequel.
Am I only person who feels jealous of everything I watch all the shadowhunter books of emma.. Gosh I want all the books and goodies Emma has 😭😭😭
Nope, me too!!!
Seeing All those shadowhunter books get me so excited!!!
I’d never get bored of them. They’d be my most best kept thing I own.😁
So, theses books have never been my favorite, but just hearing how much you love them and what they did for you made me start to love them a good bit more 🥰
I adore chatty videos and I resonate so heavily with how much meaning these books (for me, it's especially TMI) have had in my life in such dark times! ive been a fan for 11 years now and tbh that's the longest ive ever been loyal to any sort of franchise / series. no other books have reached my heart as TMI does and by extension the whole Shadowhunter chronicles. watching this video made me so happy!!! seeing anyone be so passionate about TSC makes my heart very very very happy.
Shadowhunters is my favorite books ever! Mortal Instruments got me into reading!!! I am forever in love...
Shadowhunters is my absolute favorite show I was so devastated when it had to end
Same!
I just read City Of Bones for the first time all because of you and I LOVED it!!!!
I was so happy back then because kind of in the same boat no one I knew read like me and you were the only person I found who shared my love for the movie and books and I would come home every day and see if you had posted on Instagram and RUclips
Glad I found someone else who is completely obsessed with this series. I live and breathe these books 😍
And for the record, this is something I also grew up with.
it's crazy that we've been subscribed long enough to follow you on such an impactful journey omg
I grew up with this series too!😩 your collections made me start collecting too!
Your journey with this series makes me wanna cry cause I feel you 100% also Cassandra Clare is such a gem in person ✨✨

OMG! I loved this video so much. I loved the fact that you became friends with Cassandra and now I really want to read the books
So cool you have such a connection to TMI but I’m glad you appreciate the other books now too 😂😂😂 also your eyeshadow is genuinely giving me energy!
And until then the best of luck to you
this is literally destiny, i’ve been thinking about starting the series for the past few days!!
I promise you won’t regret it!!
after a year long reading slump, I decided to try to get out of it by picking up City of Bones last month for the first time. in the past four weeks, I have now read 9 Shadowhunters books (my all-time reading record for 1 month). I have fallen absolutely in love with the world and I don't plan on slowing down any time soon. I have spent way too much money buying all of the books so that I can have a pretty Shadowhunters shelf but it was worth every penny!
I'm not a fan of the series, but I really enjoy watching the fan express their emotions!
You're very sweet and I am happy for you♥
This video was so nostalgic 😭 Remebering not only all these Shadowhunter moments but also remembering seeing the videos you made at that time!!! and sharing your Jamie Campbell Bower obsession 😂
I loved the series so much that I searched up a guy from our class and forced him to become my parabatai (although that lasted for a few days and I despise him but eh)
I actually read TDA and TID during THIS Christmas and I absolutely LOVE them. Actually, I just recently got to know about booktube and got into your channel mainly because you like TSC. Thank you for sharing your experience with us, your passion seeped out of the screen and kickstarted the blood in my veins
(-_- why am I like this)
Anyways, I really wish I was there for your TSC reread and video chat with the participants, I would have loved joining in.
I haven't read the Shadowhunter chronicles yet ..I am kind of hesitant because some people don't enjoy it .. but i really want to read them now
Dear Emma,
I just wanted to say: wow, what an amazing journey do you have.
That replica Mortal Cup is so beautiful, amazing, and impressive!
Whenever I feel down I just remind myself that the wicked powers are coming out in 2 years 😊
I actually started reading the shadowhunters books because of you! Believe me when I say you’ve changed my life 💞
Happy 7 years on RUclips Emma! I’m so glad I found your channel in 2016 and you convinced me to read The Mortal Instruments when I was in 8th grade because you and the shadowhunter world have brought me so much joy over the past four+ years!!
You’re the reason I got into the Shadow Hunter chronicles.and I will be forever thankful to you for that.
These books mean the world to me now.
I love this book series with my entire heart and a big part of it involves you and your channel. Needless to say i absolutely loved this video
