I didn't get into my dream school the first time around. So I went to a different college did well enough to get a couple of awards. Then apply for the spring semester of the following year and got in. I called after my rejection letter to see what things I could do to better my chances. They told me I just needed to pull up my GPA because everything else was perfect.
What did you do for them to tell you everything else is perfect?
Question coming from a highschool student who's trying his best to get into his dream school
@@Dani-1239it really varies from school to school. You can take a look at each school’s Common Data Sets (or CDS) and find out what the average student that got in looks like. Under section C, you can often find their average GPA, how much they prioritize standardized testing, GPA, rec letters, etc. Ultimately, though, college admission is a lot of luck as well, so do not fret if you don’t get in. Best of luck and I hope you get in to your dream school. (:
This right here is the best strategy. Not some random emails lol
@@Dani-1239look at the common data set of your dream school, mission statements, and maybe talk to some admissions officers and whatnot. But when talking to admissions ask out of inquiry, don’t state it’s your dream school…talk to them as if you’re just looking to learn more

Hey! Thanks for bringing it up. It was a paid ad and definitely a mistake on my end for uploading😓 I’ve never used any tool to write my essays - my professors would know as I meet face-to-face with them to discuss my essay ideas and go over my drafts. Also, I always start my essays (weeks) early!

Hmmm, the kids need to know: I went to a university that cost a quarter of the tuition of hardvard, got a job (making 6 figures, naturally), went back to complete grad school with a perfect gpa. I have about 15k worth of student loan debt, and I make as much as a medical doctor.... I'm going into medical technology design soon hoping to remove doctors from the field to help make medical care cheaper... go where you can get your education with as little loans as possible. It doesn't matter I think. Some of my friends went ivy and I'm doing better than them...

What does it mean to ED?
Appreciate the advice! But wouldn’t this bother them a bit - never made any top school myself, so I’m not qualified to say anything here lol. I just feel like they might get annoyed.
1 year: Why we getting thousands of these now? Time to ignore.
How do you afford those schools?
Scholarships, financial aid, grants
Isn't this basically the SAME THING as sending a LOCI?
Like how is this method better?
What is an ed if you don’t mind me asking, also my dream school is brown and I’ve been doing good for most of high school year but this year I received an 89 in one of my classes so now I can’t get on the honor roll anymore will I still have a chance? And if so how can I increase it? I’m already doing some sports and stem like extracurriculars
An ED refers to the application type Early Decision. There are often different types of applications for a school. The main difference between Early Decision and Early Action is that ED is a binding choice- you are applying to the school, and if you get in, you are making the commitment to attend this school. If you are honest and fully interested in attending Brown, try researching about their ED requirements. Early Action is a different type of application where the decision is non binding- you apply to the school early to be reviewed earlier than most applicants to demonstrate the school of your interest in attending.
Overall, the single 89 will not ruin your chances of applying if you have a strong academic record. In your application, I would suggest mentioning why you got the grade (personal circumstances for example) and explain how you were able to overcome this difficult time and emphasize your good grades.
Hope this helped, good luck!
I got deferred after EA should I still send three emails if the college says only to send a letter of continued interest?
When I got deferred to my dream school, I sent only one email about continued interest and highlighted new leader positions I acquired. If you deferred to ED II, I would suggest waiting for your mid-year grades before sending the one letter, but other than that, remember that you are just being pushed back to a regular decision. Highlighting your senior year accomplishments is key in helping you stand out from the new pool of applicants you're in.
