The Douglas team packed up some of our favorite rods (see below) and headed to the last frontier for a next-level adventure with our friends at All Alaska Outdoors.
A short drive from Anchorage and a stones throw above Longmere Lake on the Kenai Peninsula. The All Alaska Outdoors lodge is easy to get to and positioned perfectly to offer the most diverse experiences Alaska has to offer. It was our second time visiting this lodge and the trip did not disappoint.
The Fly-outs provided spectacular views while passing over the Alaska Range taking us to a variety of Alpine lakes filled with eager fish. From trophy Pike to Giant Grayling and Enormous Lake trout. We floated the lower Kenai river and found an abundance of sockeye salmon. The Upper Kenai river drift with Douglas pro guide Zach Walters, Alaska Clear Water, provided the opportunity to shake hands with some incredible rainbow trout and beautiful Dolly Varden.
We drove a quick two hours to Seward for a chance at some salt species. While weather prevented our planned deep-sea halibut excursion, we quickly switched gears and set our sights on blitzing rock fish on the fly! We thoroughly enjoyed putting our rods to the test in some challenging conditions using a variety of techniques. Dr. Bob and his crew are truly the best and we look forward to when our paths cross again. We highly recommend a stay here. A trip every angler would enjoy and well worth taking.
