I'll give just one fundamental difference. Classical liberalism didn't include democracy as we know it. All mean are born equal is a liberal term, unfortunately, this has become a globalist ideology, meaning, they do what they can to combat authoritarianism etc.
Liberals are more of central-right (social liberalism) to right (classical/economic/neo liberalism). Left side of the spectrum is different forms of socialism: social democracy (center-left), democratic/liberal socialism (left), and various interpretations of Marxism, like communism, stalinism, maoism etc. (far left).
@ulfr-gunnarsson Social Liberalism is usually considered Centre to Centre Left. The US Democratic Party was primarily a Social Liberal party until recently, as are the UK Liberal Democrats. Classical Liberalism is generally Centre Right, such as in the case of the German Free Democratic Party.
