Here is some advice from someone from a 100+ year ranching family, unofficially have some of your people who are religious point out God put them here for a reason and God does not make mistakes, we do. It is hard for people like me to argue against God. Other tactic is money, Ranchers are always walking a fine survival tightrope, they cannot afford losses, guarantee top dollar reimbursement for loss and quick, no promises but have it in writing and be flexible, such as no set maximum, a guy who loses a baldy crossbreed calf is not the same as losing a Waygu seed stock calf. Treat people with respect, right now people in rural areas despise Portland and Seattle because of all the damaging laws shoved down our throats without any regard of its effect on rural areas, remember we are the ones that live with most of the consequences of those political decisions not you in the city. Good luck, I want to see Grizzlies, wolverines, wolves and wild horses etc all back in healthy numbers as the Good Lord intended.
