That's terrifying in a way. All kinds of shit is going on all over the Pokemon World and through it all two kids and their Pokemon are having a never ending battle. The world has almost ended four fucking times and neither have budged!
We played as Red, but we do not face ourselves on Mount Silver, we face the true Red on Mount Silver, while we were playing as Gold, we are Gold in that situation, but the true Gold does not act like us. The true Red and the true Gold aren't the player, we are the player.
If Arceus were to go on a rampage again then this would surely play as Red would be the only trainer that could ever hope to truly take down the God of the Pokemon universe.

I'll never forget how blown away i was by traveling to Kanto after beating the 8 gyms in Silver and I thought "There's no way this could get better.", then I saw the main character sprite from the first gen. As a little kid with no internet spoilers, nothing could of ever prepared me for the excitement and rush of this battle. I loved it.
I just love how sinister this sounds. Its as if Red really has gone insane with power, awaiting a worthy challenger to beat him. You know, in Pokémon Sun and Moon they should bring back ALL the Champions to help you out during the main storyline. Make it so damn cataclysmic and destructive that you'd need the help of the very best. Hell, maybe bring in some Legendaries to help out as well, like Lugia and Ho-Oh, as opposed to just putting them in the games as encounters. Have them do stuff that they are known for!

We've got gen 7. Next gen, well have gen 8. That means, 8 different protagonists, that are in the story-line beating the champions. Just as much as there are badges. In my headcanon for the future, the after-episode of that game will show us who is the very best, like no one else will ever be.

i think it's because, in 1sr place, we played as red. so.....we know his strenght and his pokémon. in 2nd place it's because the whole game finish in the battle with him, the music....everything can intimidate us in that moment, including the nostalgia factor, red is badass
Probably because he is the strongest trainer you face till nowadays. Literaly. The 88 lvl pikachu is the highest leveled trainer's pokemon you face in all pokemon games
If ash ever beat a Pokémon league his next opponent should be red to put him back into place and ash therefore won't be a master and the series keeps going for ash to get stronger like red
