Thank you I just learned something new today from you. How to freeze broccoli. I’m not a cooker so I’m learning slowly. I’m dyslexia I instructions specially on the video. Yay for the Internet. 👍❤️ 5:22
I did an experiment when I froze my broccoli last year. I did some blanched and some unblanched to see if I would notice a difference....boy oh boy did I ever. Blanched were delicious and unblanched were horribly bitter. I will have to try your steamed method this year, thanks for an informative video.
There is a better option for zip bag freezing.. Lower the bottom into cold water as low as possible without letting water into the bag, it pushes the air out, seal the bag while still in the water. As close to vacuum sealing as you can get without a vacuum sealer.
I don’t like that method- your bag gets all wet. And if you don’t completely dry it, you introduce unnecessary moisture to your freezer which makes more frost. 😬
Hi Chrystal, thank you for sharing this video. For some reason I didn't know you had a RUclips video. I just saw it on your last Instagram post. Hopefully my broccoli grows and I will be freezing. I just ordered your book, looking forward to going through it.

One of my garden goals this year is to grow enough broccoli to freeze. I've grown it before but we ways eat it too fast! Do you have any recommendations on variety?
Wow, really? Broccoli can be frozen for a year in the freezer? I have another, important, question: doe steh Broccoli lose some of it's vitalims, minerals, calogen and antioxidants once you pick it from the garden and puit it in the freezer? Because, logically speaking, onc eyou pick it it can no longher extract nutrients form the soil.
I am in the process of harvesting my broccoli from my plants I started from seed and they have produced a large broccoli crown but they are also producing another set of smaller crowns all over the plant. I don’t think they will get big like the mother crown. Should I be harvesting these smaller ones do you think?
The best process! Thank you!

This is the same method I use. Very informative!
Steam method works the best
I did try to freeze broccoli when they're fresh. They end up mushy with a horrible taste. Having the broccoli part boiled before freezing is the way.
Great video. Thank you. Love your pans. I have your book and I love it. Happy Freezing.
Thank you so much!
I like it

Thank you!
how do you reheat it from the freezer?

How did you suck out the air with the stray and describe what you're doing clearly spoken??🤔😁
That was a voiceover 😊

My favorite is called “Gypsy” 👍🏻
Thanks for your great information..can you tell me how long will it stay fresh in freezer..
At least a year 👍🏻
If you blanch green pepper and use it on a salad, is the pepper soggy?
Yes, frozen peppers are soft/not like fresh.

Definitely!
When you take it out of the freezer, is it mushy? Also do you need to cook it more or just warm it up? I have never had frozen broccoli before.
Not mushy even a little. Yes, it needs just a touch more cooking to be perfectly tender.
What about a salad spinner to get the majority of water off of the broccoli.
You could, yes, but I don’t think it’s necessary.
So some day when you take it out to eat it, you have to steam it again to eat, right?
Yes, just briefly
Why does it have to be a plastic straw?
Because you need to bite down on it firmly to yank it out of the bag.
How come you don’t vac seal?
Its a fine and good method, just not necessary in my opinion.
