Hi Nick I have one album by Eloy "Ocean" so this is going to be interesting. At the moment my favourite German Prog Rock Band is "Girls Under Glass" You should hear a track called "New World Order" .. You'd love the guitar rock riff . Ok I have another coffee ready, so ... here we go ... Byee Jim X
Always loved Castle In The Air and Madhouse . Such cool songs! There's also a monster 14+ minute track on Floating. Just an absolute killer album.

Hi Nick the best Eloy album I my opinion is “Ocean” . The first track is particularly good.
I saw Eloy live in 1977, my second ever concert. It was the Dawn tour and they played several songs of the album incl the Midnight Flight / Mental Force. I don't remember single songs, but I remember they played in some kind of sports hall and we all sat on the ground . The follow up album Ocean is my favourite and thanks to Narvik you already reacted to Poseidons Creation 🤘
I suggest you listen to the full album, Eloy songs are connected by lyrics, and they follow a story, especially older albums.

are for me their very best Albums!
I love Eloy, but only until 1983, from then on I don't like them any more.
A Band you should also listen to is "Flaming Bess", but only the Albums "Tanz der Götter (1979)" and "Verlorene Welt" (1980)!
Jane - "Live at Home" (1976) or "Between Heaven and Hell" (1977) is also very recommended!
Other early Albums by Jane too.
The vocals will improve in the 80s and 90s. His heavy German accent will get less as well.
The 80s and 90s material are also something Lex would love.
They hired a true pianist and female backing vocalists 1980 which improved their sound.
At that time in the 70s , I was 14 , I was addicted to Eloy. Now after many years it still sounds amazing with high musical and sound engineering quality! Thank you for reminding!
On Inside 1973 and Floating 1974 they were like a jam band, but over time they developed soundwise. The late 70s and the 80s are my favorite era of Eloy. They never left progressive rock like other prog bands did. You won't hear them playing pop music.

Nice! Floating is a superb album, especially Castle In the Sky. You'd love their later 70s/early 80s albums as well.
This was just amazing! O hear a lot of Eloy in metal bands from the 80's. I am sure iron maiden got influenced by Eloy.

The intro of Floating sounds like the beginning of Run To The Hills. Parts of the song reminded my of the intro Rush's La Villa Strangiato.
I can recognize parts of Rush's 2112 Overture.
The Midnight Fight and Iron Maiden's Killers (song) are similar, too. If you listen to the backing track (without guitars).

Recently stumbled on their Ocean album. Really digging it. Atlantis' Agony in particular is a groove.

Perhaps way more famous than Eloy during the 70's is Thin Lizzy.
I like them both, but Eloy's music is closer to my heart.

Andrew Lloyd Webber published Phantom of the Opera in 1986.
This was unarmed metal. Sometimes, I listen to Iron Maiden backing tracks without the guitars.

Hi again, this was a good marathon. I really liked Madhouse, but the standout track for me was definitely The Midnight Fight. As rock groups go I was reminded more of Uriah Heep, I would be interested how they are now. Thankyou byee Jim X

I never expected John Martyn to appear, as well as a few others, like Alex Harvey, so there is plenty of time, even if it means me getting a track in the requests. I do have a list written down. My "unfulfilled" marathon had Hole in the sky and Sleep, both off the The Gentle Art Of Music Sampler, where they rearranged Hole ... a bit and turned Sleep into a complete different song .. I like the vibe. 3rd would have been Silenced, maybe my Nr 1, not only because of the music, but also the lyrics ... simply great. Home again and 3 Lights complete my personal Top 5. Maybe you check Victim of Desire of the new album. Happy Easter with delicious chocolate and ... beer ? 🤣 cheers my friend
