Agnes Obel is an amazing singer, pianist. Got all albums. You should hear all in your own. Sublime melancholic music.

Agnes Obel has been one of my favourite artists for around a decade now.
Saw her in concert many years ago. She is brilliant
"The Curse " live Berlin version is my favourite ever track by her.

This is so much Nordic and Scandinavian tunes, especially the first three songs - picture youself by a campfire in the vast woods, surrounded by troll, älvor (fairies) in the mist, and a moose, a wolf or even a bear strolling by, while you hear these songs. Mystic, magic, beautiful.

The music and singing is so ear catching! Love it! The first song has "little" bit of the bands "London Grammer" and "Cellar Darling" feel to it.

Thanks, Dave...Tremendous marathon...Oslo has become one of my favorite cities in the world since I started going there once a year on business, so now I've got to see if next time I'm going, I can catch one of these acts (or Aurora!)...And Nick, I can't believe it---no sooner was I was going to joke that with all these breathtaking Scandanavian female artists you'd get over your Rachel Weisz crush, and you come out on the video and say "She looks like Rachel Weisz!"...Spooky...

I absolutely love both Aurora and Kalandra (including Katrine), so I don't mind a bit if you like one over the other. But if you think Aurora is too intense, you need to listen to more of her, because she has many, many different styles. Perhaps something like "All is Soft Inside" live at KEXP Iceland 2018 or "Cure for Me" official music video might show you a different side of her.

kalandra, excellent band and excellent musicians.
from all anna von hausswolff-songs this was the least expected, what a strange request. but you cannot do her justice with only one song anyways.
agnes obel always stunns with her her precise compositions and live performances.
for both anna and agnes i don't understand why you havn't picked some live videos. there are plenty of good videos to find.
both agnes and anna are also doing movie scores.
ane is pronounced with a long a at the beginning. the signature of her voice is absolut unique. regarding th cover of "halo". it has nothing to do with "hallo", it means heiligenschein in german. in my opinion the version by hjaltalín is even better. anes version of big in japan is phenomenal.
    linnéa plays cello heavenly.
it's always funny that people who have a bit of nordic ancestry say they can understand nordic languages, which i highly doubt, to be honest. the similarities to german are too small. but it's good to try. i guess you are german, right? so my reccomendation is to start with norwegian. it's quiet easy to learn and gives you the opportunity to get into nordic languages in general. (there are two branchens of norwegian) if you have a common understanding of norwegian, it's easier to get into swedish as well. swedish has some quirks, though. if you are at this point, the written danish is also no longer a riddle, the spoken danish will still be.
i think icelandic and faroese are the biggest challenge. the grammar is complicated.

@@Dave-hb7lx don`t get me wrong, the song you've picked is good, just a very unusual choice. i can reccomend the songs she did with mikael karlsson. anna is seldomly featured on reaction channels. don't ask me why, she is in my opinion criminally underrated.
agnes' music was also featured in cate blanchetts movie tár..
you might also like elsiane with vaporous live at studio.

@@Dave-hb7lx elsianes drummer plays excellent drum patterns, imo.
anything eivor does is pure gold. do you know her album at the heart of a selkie? that's a journey, i can highly reccomend to sit down with good headphones, a glass of wine and to fall into it.
      florence is also cool.
if you are up for classical music, too, i can reccomend helen sjöholm with du maste finnas with english subtitles. her performance is superb, intense and just wow. it's from a musical by benny and björn from abba. you can see them also sitting in the audience and following her vocals mesmerized. take a close look onto the woman standing right sided next to helen. she looks nearly terrified!
ionnalee, dunes of sand live in fivelstad is also very good.
