Nice to see how serious you are at this im 15 and ive started doing repairs since I was 11 and at first i did small repairs on things with my first being fixing unresponsive buttons on a nes controller then i did other things like replacing the shattered screen on my old kindle tablet and well now ive made money off doing this as well but i pretty much do it in a small area in my room but hopefully when i turn 18 im gonna rent a garage out or some sort of studio apartment so i can have more space to do this
I love your main channel amazing job you’ve done with it. I’m just so amazed with your story, how you got to where you are. I would love to be where you are soon I’m starting my own eBay sales and electronic repairing
Honestly, I'm not sure...it seemed like they basically just started sending them. I think partially because no one was doing the repairs I was offering
I really love the tour video! It is quite the setup and looks really cool in the video shown. I have watched quite a few of your videos and have really enjoyed being able to see the scope of your business going from startup to where it is now. Out of curiosity, do you know how much time it took for you to progress from being just a solo businessman doing repairs to feeling like it was too much to do that and shipping, and hiring out your mother-in-law to help out with shipping? Thanks!
I consider myself a fast learner and the era we live in now things like RUclips allows people to learn so much without going to school. Should I have some kind of formal training or is it possible to just grab some broken consoles and learn by doing?
Started with selling old consoles as well. I need to learn how to use eBay I mainly use offer up and fb, should I get one of these $300 certificates for console repair? I’m trying to love the dream!
Cool! If OfferUp and FB work for you then just keep doing that. eBay has a huge market but they also have a lot of fees and there are a lot of scammers who know how to game the system to rip you of on eBay. It can be worth it to sell on eBay but if you don't have to then I wouldn't. Hmm...which certificates would those be?
I’m unfortunately in Arizona now. But my wife and I are looking at hopefully getting a house in Eugene. I lived mostly in Portland and cottage grove growing up.
Steve I have also had this natural knack for fixing electronics since I was 4 years old. But I’ve never done anything with it. But watching you and your videos have heavily inspired me to start my own business fixing electronics. Mainly smartphones/tablets and game consoles. So I wanted to thank you for showing me some things I didn’t know before and helping me understand how things actually work.
@@StevePorter I also wanted to say you've really inspired me to start doing the same thing. I've always been good at fixing electronics for people and so as of a few days ago I decided to start my own business fixing electronics. I've always done it for people for free but now I'm just trying to come up with the money to get started. Do thank you Steve for being such an awesome inspiration. You're the best buddy!
I am very interested in doing a very similar business to yours and I am wondering where to get broken electronics? I look on eBay all of the time but the deals don’t work out for me very often. What other websites/ apps do you use or do you mainly get stuff from people who send it in? Any tips?
It's very hard to find good deals on broken stuff right now. Prices on everything are really high. There are quite a few websites you can use eBay, select course, various liquidation websites like liquidation.com, b stock, etc. Patience is key as sometimes it takes a while to find the right deal.
Hi Steve! I've been really looking at your videos lately and thinking about fixing and flipping ps4's and nintendo switches... But the weird thing is that I'm from Europe, Romania to be specific and I'm not so sure it would catch on the public so good cause the market isn't that developed on switches and playstations... On the other hand I don't think it would be worth for me to buy broken on ebay and sell back on ebay fixed, maybe just sell in the country free shipping... Also a problem would be that I'm graduating highschool this year and we all have to take an exam so we can go to college. I have some experience with electronics but only with through-hole soldering. Recently fixed and sold a sound system I had lying around and it actually felt great... That's why I thought about getting into this. Any suggestions?
I can't give you good advice that applies to your country since it's so different. Maybe there are other devices in your country that would be better for fixing. Whatever it is if you can find something and spend some money buying them broken then practicing until you get really good at fixing them you should do well. It does need to be an in-demand item that is worth fixing though. Hope it goes well for you.
You can try local sources like Facebook marketplace and once you get a little more capital you can buy from liquidation websites. Those are just two ideas though. There are quite a few ways to source product.
Thank you so much! Just got a job with a repair company so I can learn how to repair electronics. You were the inspiration behind that decision man! Once I get the knowledge down, I hope to open my own repair business one day. Thanks for what you do and keep up the good/hard work. I know I can't be the only one you've inspired.

Great video/inspiration. When you got started how were you able to build trust with customers shipping devices?

One day you will make it big.
I'll probably make it bigger but I'm loving where I've already made it to.

I learned by doing, if you ever encounter a issue with a repair just go to a site like ifixit
@@nerdyhd1808 Thanks for the reply
I learned by doing. I just started buying broken stuff and trying to fix it. Eventually I started to get good at fixing the stuff I was buying.
@@StevePorter what do you do if you can't repair, just return to customer wit hrefund?

Somehow I had the feeling from the time i started watching your main channel, that you were a fellow Oregonian

Hello,
Do you happen to do retro console repairs? I have 2 Neo-Geo AES consoles that are in need of service.
No, sorry
@@StevePorter Gotcha. Thank you for the reply back.

Can you please make a video of all the tools/supplies you need to start repairing?
I'll try to do a studio/repair tool tour soon.
