Lyrics: Oh you only live twice or so they say One life for yourself one for the rest Oh you drift through the years and life seems strange And one dream appears and love is its name And love is a stranger who'll beckon you on Don't think of the danger or the stranger is gone Oh you only live twice or so it seems One life for yourself one for your dreams And love is a stranger who'll beckon you on Don't think of the danger or the stranger is gone, gone, gone
Don't slag off chris martin singing this Nancy sinatra version is orchestrated with classical instruments this is is how he plays and sings ...just brilliant boys

Not a bad cover, but Nancy Sinatra owns this one... FYI, "You Only Live Twice" is part of a quote from Ian Fleming's original Novel. The full quote from the preface is "You only live twice...once when you're born, and twice...when you look death in the face"
I think this version works for me. I think the bored, droning vocals in the first half, with the more energetic second half was an intentional way to bring out that feeling of rejuvenation from the "second" life that the song is about. Its neat and I think just dismissing it because its not the original would be a shame.
@2metersessions #2metersessions can you guys release an ep of this on iTunes? I know we have trouble, but do the whole thing? Coldplay live on 2 meter sessions
Shocking Cover , honestly , my expectations were not great , but i listened to this just after i playing the Nancy Sinatra version , and its embarassing !
Love that they revived this vastly underrated classic, but their powering over it destroys it at the same time. Taken from "Mountains and Sunsets" by John Barry, it's a contemplative song, about loss and acceptance fading into a healthy but somewhat sad or at least grittily knowing maturity. The jamming guitar is ridiculously inappropriate and out of spirit with the song' main emotional impetus. Any idiot can provide a guitar jam. This is not a shredding or an exhibition take. Respect/No Respect Understanding/No Understanding.
That's a load of pretentious swill. It's a cover with its own interpretation of the song and rather than think about what this interpretation means (which can be good or bad, there are a lot of bad covers out there), you go on about what the original's meaning is without trying to understand this one. I'm not the biggest fan of Johnny Cash's version of Hurt, but its a classic example of a song recontextualizing the original's lyrics and tone and I think there is a lot to be said about how this version recontextualizes the original song. But you don't even try to think about what that is, you just explains "old song means this, old song good, new song bad." The one with a lack of understanding is you.
It’s a real shame this exciting new act only got to release two albums and a handful of EPs before being replaced by extrasolar impostor lizards poorly disguised as humans…
@@lebigfin5251 Let´say that i have other standarts. Dean Martin, Elvis Presley, Sammy Davis Jr, Frank Sinatra, Tonny Bennety, Aretha Frankin. True talented singers. Not this garbage.
@@diogocatalano9557 yes and? There’s many singers that are better than him but that doesn’t make him bad! What’s that logic? He puts in all his got and that puts emotion in to his music he has a great voice for emotion and because he’s not a great technical singer he does have a great emotion based voice
@@diogocatalano9557 This is just a different kind of music, mate. I love all the singers you mentioned, a big fan actually, but I also enjoy Coldplay and all kinds of other bands and genres. Of course, there is music that I don't GET, or don't like and that's okay. Not sure, why you are making a fuss out of other people liking something that's not your cup of tea. It's pretty stupid.

The guitar on the melody is breathtaking. Brilliant rendition.
The melody on the guitar?
@@Romans8-9 John Barry? I think the original word was freedom instead of love in the Castaneda though. Says everything.
The real Coldplay
R.I.P The Original / Real / Old COLDPLAY
The old colplay was Amazing
True
Glad to hear that I am not the only one
when i liked #RIPCOLDPLAY
Following Coldplay before they became super famous and a pop band was a magical time.
Best Coldplay era in my opinion, truly acoustic instruments.
Well. One. Unless you count the drum.
One instrument is acoustic ya clown
Love this cover, they made it more of a rock-n-roll banger and though it was a bit sloppy at times, it genuinely worked for me.
Fully agree Kath. Good summary!
The Bond flourish at the end. Chef's kiss!
So amazing. I’m shocked the guitar didn’t burst into flames.
If only they stayed true to their themselves and their sound.
Imagine what music we could have had 😢
They make so much money off their pop sound that women love. I prefer a more raw rock sound like this
These 2metersessions have a knack of capturing up & comers at their natural best in such a unique way
Magnificent the guitar line gives it a whole new dimension.

Great rock transcription of the original soundtrack. Guitars work out great. Thanks!
A very good cover of a great Bond theme
The first 2 Coldplay albums are almost as good as Definitely Maybe and What's the Story. Their B-sides and cover songs are incredible as welll.
Mooi! Bedankt 2MS 👍👍 Pier 🇧🇪🇧🇪
