  • Flint has a new lease on life after the EoP buff. Suddenly it has become a much better ship. See for yourself.

    EoP has morphed the USN Light Cruisers into beasts now. A great game. EoP on the Witchita is an eye opener too

      Hmmm, while I totally agree on the Light Cruisers being boosted by it (just like they are on PC original WOWS), it has a much more muted effect on the Heavy Cruisers, particularly the non-German ones (Germany Heavy Cruisers get the special HE Pen calculation adjustment of 1/4 x Gun Size in MM, as opposed to the 1/6 that most other nations / navies get). Wichita, for example gets 203-mm divided by 6 -- 33.83, which WG Rounds up to 34-mm. So "naturally" Wichita / Baltimore / New Orleans / Indy, etc - can all pen 34-mm of armoring with their HE shells. If you take EoP skill then, that gets boosted by 30%, which equates to a total pen of 44.2 , which rounds down to 44-mm. The reason that's of questionable use is that once you've passed the critical 32-mm Threshold, at Tier-7+, there's very few armor decks that you'd need 44-mm of punch to damage. Sinop only has a few small parts of its deck that are 38-mm and it's not till you get to an armored beast like Vladivostok that you see most of the deck being 40 or 50-mm. So.. in the rare instance you are bombing on a Vlad or Roma (43-mm Main Deck covering), then - YES - taking IFHE on the Heavy Cruisers would be handy. But, other than those rare instances, the basic 34-they get tends to be sufficient, so it's definitely Player's Choice to go that route, over the extra Heal, Radar, Hydro you give up when you don't take Fully Packed. But, choice is good !

    EoP has now made the Flint unquestionably better than the Atlanta. Before this it was a bit of a coin flip, as Atlanta wants to take Fully Packed for that third radar to make it the DD killer it is meant to be. 2 smokes, functional (if slow) torps, EoP. Good night, lights out. Flint is so good now. Stay salty!

    EOP never has quite worked well for me. As a general rule, I try not to use any commander/ship "perks" that add one thing; only to take something else away. Nice video anyhow. Keep it up. You have great content.

    • @Xarkun
      @Xarkun  3 года назад +1

      The American heavy cruisers shouldn’t need it for anything. For the 152mm guns on the Dallas - Cleveland, EoP allows them to pen 32mms of armor with HE. 203mm guns already can penetrate 32mm of HE without EoP, so EoP isn’t really going to benefit them.

    EOP has made USN CL's into consistent damage dealers, no more bad results because rng said no fires. But considering their ROF it might be a bit much. GG.

      If you COULD, it would boost 127-mm gun destroyers (like the US Benson, Fletcher, etc) - so that their HE shells could penetrate 27-mm too (like Flint and Atlanta) -- given the Legends 30% HE buff that it gives. If we were running under the PC current Reworked version (which I'm still not sure why we aren't) then it would only boost them to 26-mm able to be Penned. Still useful ! I actually hope they open up the skill to every single commander / BB / DD / Cruiser etc - if the Player wants to try it out , but just make it cost your Legendary Skill selection. Not many DD's would choose EOP over Unstoppable, and if they did -- well..they'd have to live with the Consequences, at times ;-)
      Here's the excellent page from the PC WOWS (same info generally applies in Legends0 I use for my own research on this sometimes: wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Armor_Penetration

    i feel like ifhe takes so much skill out of the game, you no longer have to target superstructure or lightly armored parts bc it will pen regardless. confirmed damage plus fire damage without really anyway to counter. I really hope wargaming nerf EoP again. Either by reducing the fire chance even more or by reducing the pen buff to something like 10 to 15 percent, so that you only upscale your penetration capabilities from f.e. 21mm to 24mm of armor.

    • @AlekTrev006
      @AlekTrev006 3 года назад

      They probably should just adopt the PC version completely -- I'm frankly not sure why they Didn't in the first place ! Since the "Great IFHE Rework" - over on PC, the skill now only boosts HE Penetration by 25% (not 30% like we have currently in EoP skill in Legends). Additionally, while it has no shell damage penalty, it cuts your Fire Chance completely in 1/2.. not just this piddly 2% reduction we are operating under. I have suggested on the Reddit forum, a few times, that they simply gives us the current PC version. That would change Flint and Atlanta so they can only penetrate 26-mm, and not the 27-mm that Xarkun correctly noted they can currently (with our 30% buff). 26-mm HE Pen would still allow them to do significant damage to the decks of most of the Tier-6 Battleships (exception Sinop has some very heavily armored parts that could shatter that a bit), and when up-tiered, they wouldn't have able to hurt most Heavy Cruisers quite as easily -- but they'd still be quite capable ships.
      I do like that they have it as a Legendary Skill choice - because it costs "4 Skill Points" in the PC Skill System (which I have grown to hope we adopt a hybrid version of, at some point, in Legends), and that's the most a skill can cost over there. Thus, WG themselves recognize that it's a very strong ability, so choosing to use it should be a sacrifice (in our case, giving up Fully Packed and that 3rd Smoke / Radar / Hydro -- or Heal in the case of Cleveland, Chapayev, and Kutuzov !).

      Cause it stands for "Inertia-Fuze High Explosive" - shells. It's an actual HE shell type that can be loaded and fired from cannons -- which has a smaller flammable charge (less Fire Chance), but improved ability to punch through armor before exploding (Increased HE Penetration). I'm not sure whey they just didn't call it IFHE (or spell out the acronym, as I did here), when they brought it in with the Russians. Legends Devs like to give our skills somewhat "Artsy" names for otherwise mundane skills. "Adrenaline Rush" on PC -- we get called "Stand or Fall" - here. I dunno why not just call it Adrenaline Rush, lol - -but they love their oddball names at times :-)

      @@flarendex9135 yes, see my above comment to Chr1zie 02, in which I note that -- for some bizarre reason, the Legends Devs gave us the OLD IFHE version, before they did their big "IFHE Rework" earlier this year (2020). It's as though we are always several months to years behind the PC game, even on things like basic Patch Updates -- like they are using an "old build" of the game for us, for some reason. Sigh.... console peasants ? :-(
