    Hi, CORVAIRWILD here. A little about me and what I do: First, I love my wife of many years, she is a wonderful lady. I call her Mrs CW. I can never go anywhere without her & my Dog Muggs! He's cool. You should have a dog like him too. Next, I am a landlord, NO, not a slumlord who does section 8 apartment rentals, but I keep my properties up like they were my own...they are my own! Like I live there. I have lots of apartment buildings, a farm out in the country and a house here and there. I am always doing something, driving rehabbing, you name it! I want to include you, so I bring my camera! EVERYWHERE! Haha.
    ENJOY.
    Did I mention I am a car enthusiast! I can't get enough Covairs and Vintage Chevy and GMC trucks. They have great reliability...all of em' the best vehicle on the road ever is a Corvair Spider Turbo. Back to the trucks, I love the diesel trucks and suburbans, Blazers too. That's what I plow snow with. A fisher snow plow. I'm a busy guy, but I make time for you. Thanks! CW

    Amerex, Ansul, Sentry, Badger and the pro level Kidde units are the top units. ABC powder is a PIA to deal with it attacks just about any surface. If you use one and put the fire out grab a hose and flush away all of the powder you can ASAP.
    A cheap way to practice with extinguishers is to buy a couple water can units. Those get filled with plain water (or water with a foam additive) and charged with compressed air. They allow you to practice without costing you a lot of money for recharges.
    Most fire departments will demonstrate how to use them for free. Mine invites the public in during open house and let's people practice with water and CO2 units. It's a lot of fun, but It keeps the training officer busy... (I'm one of the TOs and usually conduct the classes)

      Is there a less caustic alternative?

    • @Blazer02LS
      @Blazer02LS 10 лет назад

      Depends on what class you need. Potassium or Sodium Bicarbonate are the least reactive (with SB being the better of the two) BUT most companies will not rate those as ABC. Mainly because they don't work very well on class A fires (paper, wood and such), Of the two PB is more effective for fire suppression. Both work by decomposing into their primary chemicals and releasing water and CO2 as a result. (which is why they make baked good rise as well)
      But to get a decent A rating they use monoammonium phosphate, Which gets the A rating by melting in the heat and flowing to smother the fire.
      I don't know why they don't want a good water can as well as ABC, Water or water with a wetting agent is still the best extinguishing agent for class A that exists. And it's a LOT less damaging than most agents.

    What kind of fitting is he using to screw that air coupling into the nozzle? I can't find anything other than 1/4 couplings anywhere and it's driving me nuts!

      CORVAIRWILD oh I see! Well I have the same model, one from Lowe's. The thread on the nozzle is actually 1/8" NPT for those that are looking to modify or recharge their extinguisher. Thanks for replying appreciate it!

      @@therobotincharge9821 you can get them from Brooks equipment but I would recommend just bringing it in to a professional to have it recharged

    I have an extinguisher I removed the powder and want to put nitrogen or co2 in it to clear minor clogs in vanity sinks how do I go about filling them with just the gas

    • @aaronkaufenberg799
      @aaronkaufenberg799 5 лет назад

      Just empty the powder out and put the valve back on and fill it with 195 psi of air or nitrogen preferably nitrogen. But you need a special adapter is the only issue for you

    Dented shell, did it possibly need hydrotested or was the dent too deep and the extinguisher should have been condemned?

    1/4 through this video I now realize why licensing is required in so many states now. Ammonium phosphate is NOT corrosive otherwise it would eat through the extinguisher tank !! Duh! It only becomes corrosive if it comes in contact with moisture ( water, condensation, high humidity) You should learn your trade instead of being just a "tag salesman". You make the rest of professionals look bad.

      There are good extinguishers. They are not the best to work on at all but they work just fine for discharging. First alert is owned by Ansul and there are a solid company. The only thing that kinda sucks is that they outsource the chemical sometimes from China and its pink instead of yellow so you cant mix it

    • @ironmatic1
      @ironmatic1 5 лет назад

      +Aaron Kaufenberg First Alert is under Newell Brands. It was never under Tyco like Ansul is, even though First Alert used to use Ansul Foray in their extinguishers. If you look at a First Alert extinguisher now, the label says something along the lines of “CONTENTS MANUFACTURER: Something Something Synthetic Chemical Company, Somewhere Somewhere, China”.

    And let's charge a lot of renters shit tons of money and only allow people who make three times the income with no felony on their records so that way they get denied if they don't meet those standards that's what they're doing everywhere and that's so fucking pathetic what about us low-income people who are only given Federal benefits and don't make all those requirements then what we're all fucked
