I just smile the whole time Bruce and that adorable German girl dance. She's walking a tightrope half the time between fainting and dancing really well. Bruce helps her up on stage and then takes her hand afterwards to make sure she gets back. Such a cute scene. How can anyone not love it.
I have watched this video over and over, it's so amazing, the girl getting up on stage, I wonder what she is doing now, all these years after, how she looks like, I can imagine her old, sitting in a sofa telling the story of this historical moment in life. Bruce Springsteen, you are and will remain a king
He just does it with such sweetness and style...because he never gets creepy, the girls don't usually, either. I first saw him in my college gym in 1976...and I've always felt that a Springsteen concert was like having your older brother's best friend back in town...just a big get-together of old friends to have a good time. He weaves magic -- even now that he's playing to thousands and thousands at once. Not just the Boss, but the Master.
simply heartwarming how happy this stunning looking girl is dancing with the boss, looks she believes this only a dream. Reminds me of whitney houstons "one moment in time". Dear Heike, this was your personal moment in time, and it will always be, you have written history, nobody can take this away from you. Wish you all the best.
This concert was in East Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall. There was a lot of political tension surrounding the concert. Times were changing. It was a huge crowd with 1% of the entire country in the audience. It was broadcast all throughout East Germany and represented tearing down the walls with the west, reunification and peace. She represented the East German/Soviet people and Bruce represented America. It was a dance between two nations that had spent decades on the verge of war!
Very informative. Thank you. I visited Berlin in 1982 and went through Checkpoint Charlie into East Berlin. It was in a shabby state with the blackened Opera House having plants growing out of it. The East really had its nose rubbed into it by the Russians.
Always I will remember this concert of almost 4 hours. Not only joy, also it gave hope and courage to young people in the formerly soviet part of Germany. One and a half year later, we have got our freedom, the "Cold War" was over. Thanks a lot to you, Bruce, for coming to East Berlin in '88 and Happy 75th Birthday to you.

“Sometimes I feel just a little lonely that’s why i gotta reach out to somebody cos I need a little help.” Great performance. Thumbs up for this American musician, singer, songwriter and humanitarian --Bruce Springsteen
The documentary's directors Carsten Fiebeler and Daniel Remsperger tracked down the woman Springsteen helped on stage to groove to "Dancing in the Dark" with him, Heike Bernhard. Bernhard, now a management consultant, said she has never washed the t-shirt she was wearing that night.
Her name is Heike Bernhard. She's an event planner or something like that in Berlin. She still has the shirt, never been washed HAHA. This was the last encore
I wonder if they hooked up after the gig? That would have been a cool way to join East to West Berlin. Many experts of the era say Bruce's concert was a major force helping to break down the Berlin Wall. Those days are long gone...
Unfortunately not. We have to remember this was BEFORE the wall fell. East Germany was a very repressive society back then. Bruce would never have been allowed to just wonder about. The East Germans were considering turning off the power. There's some interesting history available on line on the concert and interviews with people years after. ( including her ) Bruce yelling "Wunderbar" at the end is "wonderful or terrific. Don't know if she ever got married or has kids.
I've seen recent pictures of her. She's still good looking. ( Hope that puts a smile on your face, Heike ) She's early fifties now, don't know if she has grandkids or even had kids of her own.
This was right before the fall of the Berlin Wall. The crowd could almost smell the reunification of their country. The dancing with the girl was so darn wholesome. She probably still talks about it to this day.
The reason he is so loved by millions of fans is because he relates to the average working class in America and all over the world. Love this song . my favorite besides Born in The USA.

He plays at least 3.5 hours FULL THROTTLE, takes sign requests, brings many people up on stage. HELL OF A NICE, humanitarian guy, fantastic father..compared to some that are out there...
No, he's not a common man, he's a rich man now, but he can still tell the stories with sincerity. He admits in his autobiography that, although he tells the stories of struggling people working gritty factory jobs or farming, that's not really his story. He became a musician very young, and "never worked an honest day in his life," as he puts it. But he's an artist, and an artist doesn't have to live the life of his subjects to portray them honestly.
This video makes me tear up a little. Such awesome memories of going to see Springsteen this tour when I was about that girl's age. (so now we are both late 40s). So much fun-one of the best nights of my life and the emotion of this girl and the crowd bring it all back. This girl seems sweet and i'm glad she has that memory. Being young was really something...

The girl is adorable. Natural beauty and obviously star struck but handled it well. thats where Courtney Cox got her start . at a Springsteen concert ! Bruce rules! He always picks the best looking girls from the crowd.
Heike Bernhard (name of the girl) - thanks for this dance :-) Ost-Berlin tried hard to fix the imploding society by inviting huge stars like the Boss, Joe Cocker and Depeche Mode - some years before 88, such a concert would not have been possible. Great that it was.
Having fun with the crowd is why he is still putting on a (minimum) of 3.5 hour shows with as much energy as he has here at 39. Almost 64 years old and is still all over the stage and in the crowd burning an estimated 2,000 calories a show. Hope that fun never ends...
Enjoying the magic of the moment - a shared joy for the audience and the artists. Nowadays the audience destroys this magic with their obsession to capture each moment and each emotion with their smartphones. But to be fair - we would have done the same in the 80s if we would have had smartphones. Glad to have experienced some great concerts in the 80s and 90s of Springsteen, Peter Gabriel and Sting without smartphones and pure concentration on the music and performance of these great artists who are still "up and running". Great memories.
Let's always hope for the best.... The best is in each of us, at the moment we love to make music and take pleasure with this art.... Magnifique Bruce tu nous as apporté beaucoup de ton talent et de ton energie !!§ Merci pour tout ça...

I love Bruce Springsteen but you people remember a different 80's than I do. I remember be imaging out of work lines of homeless people and commercials on television appealing for donations to the food bank. Bruce inspired and spoke out during this hard time. That was very cute. Enjoyed watching them dance together and her expressions of emotion. She also did very well under those circumstances, i.e. controlled but still swinging it.

that girl is Courtney Cox.
That's not Courtney. Courtney's in the "official" Brian de Plama directed video.
That's right, this girl is an unknown.

From one end to the other, it will always be BRUCEEE !!!
Wie oben beschrieben war ich auch dabei.
Man kann es kaum beschreiben. Als 18 jähriger mußte ich bei the river heulen.
Ich war 28 und habe auch geheult. Geil dabeigewesen zu sein.
Bruce rules! He always picks the best looking girls from the crowd.
She is about 1 arm swing away from flying out of that T-Shirt. God bless her.
Don't you understand that this dance with this specifik girl was planned in advance?
He never fails to deliver. Dancing in the dark with a hot audience gal.
Love the Music of Bruce Springsteen ♥️🌟♥️🌟♥️🌟♥️🌟♥️🌟♥️🌟♥️🌟♥️🌟♥️
I say him at Seneca college in Toronto one of the best shows I every witnessed. Close to a show I say when l went with one of Bob Seeger's background singer's in Tampa bay in 1974, a 24hrs of pure love. It will always be in a special place in my heart. No names out of respect.
That was very cute. Enjoyed watching them dance together and her expressions of emotion. She also did very well under those circumstances, i.e. controlled but still swinging it.

Bruce Rules! I was Lucky enough to grow up in Jersey. Graduated Union HS in 1981. When I was living at The Shore, partying hard; if I heard Bruce may show up at The Stone Pony, me and my friends would drive up the coast and try to get into the bar. The Boss Rules! He Loves The Jersey Shore just like me!
That was epic --- every time I watched the Boss do this song in concert -- he once brought his mother out on stage. I just love it.
Gosto muito da alegria e do talento de Bruce e também de sua simplicidade.
Wow. That girl is gorgeous.
