While irrational anger is deserved to be controlled there are situations and times when one needs to be angry instead of becoming passive spectators of some ills being carried out. Anger can motivate also to something creative work and many a great creative works has on its back an angry past of the creators out of victim of deprivation and exploitations.
Even God gets angry or act upon his anger from time to time. Us mortals just need to know when and where to unleashed it and who it will fall to. Good video though.
Anger is damaging I'm recovering from anger issues. I tend to bottle things up a lot, so when I burst I burst and make sure I completely hurt whoever my anger is directed towards. I thought that was power but I realized calmness is true power. And people hate it when you're calm because they don't know what is what. These days I try to use negative emotions as a fuel to do positive things. e.g when I remember something that makes me angry and can't get it out of my mind, I clean my room or do any physical activity that is productive to instill order in my mind and emotional system. Edit: Thank You guys all for the for the support. It's crazy because we are so apart but so close. My heart has been touched. For those who are still battling with this very intense emotion(energy) you can overcome it. I am not perfect but my anger has simmered a lot. I wish I could reply to each comment.
It’s probably rare because a lot of people nowadays lack the emotional intelligence to use it. Which is probably why mental illnesses has increased in the last decade(atleast according to articles that I had read).
It's rare because it is common sense. Something we humans aren't always very good at. So simple yet so difficult. It has changed me too. Even if I only soak up 1% it still changes something in me😊
I only care how people behave when they're directly attackingme, then I just move on and say until you learn how to behave properly and understand the word self-respect self-esteem and self-worth of another human we really don't have much to talk about

Yeah I'd never get over the fact that if my future was in the hands of total fools, there's no way in hell I'd ever not be pissed at that fact that we cannot control the outside world. In my opinion I'd think to not lash out is to allow bullshit the perpetuate. Better to be pissed off than to be complicit in the face of unacceptable behavior. Anger can be used as an energy source, to push one through any obstacle. So in my case I've found it to be the opposite of Marcus's quote. Because I come off strong, I less frequently have to deal with situations that would otherwise anger me anyway, as people can see you arnt here to play, and theyll get out of your way. A rather constructive way other than punching and kicking and screaming, unless that is required.
Represing anger is not the solution. Allowing anger to be, without acting on it, is the best way i have found so far. You can feel your emotions as advicers, but only you take the final decision.
yes very true. its also understanding yourself and recognizing what triggers you. I always think when we allow other people or things to trigger us, we are handing power over to them. So its important to learn how to manage yourself and liberate yourself from stress and being triggered every now and then. :)
Yes! I love this. I have been practicing so much with allowing my emotions to MOVE through me, not settle. It becomes a problem when it settles. Allowing my emotions to move through me while still acknowledging it allows me to then analyze after and think more logically about why I was feeling that way and how to either prevent or guide myself through it if it happens again!

I hate getting angry. I've found that the moment I give in to expressing my anger it's like a wild animal escaped from its cage. I have control so long as I keep the cage door closed but if I open it just a little, to let off a little steam, it will often bust loose and escape and it's very hard, at that point, to contain. It's better for me to simply smile and walk away.
I totally feel the same I ended up hurting myself by running into the street and getting scabs on my legs and arms just because I couldn’t ignore my sister getting mad and having her tantrum

Ok this sounds more reasonable, because some other comments suggested that you shouldn't expect people to be nice but when someone's physical security is at risk I guess that something should be done. Like people with domestic violence maybe should deffends escape and not accept such behavior.
Being ancient, and thus the last generation in my country to be routinely taught Latin and ancient Greek, I read Seneca at school. His wisdom is amazing, as was his early insights into the human mind, despite not knowing a thing about how the brain has evolved. Marcus Aurelius had a similar insight into our strengths and animalistic weaknesses. Thanks for a well presented summation.

If a person doesn't express their anger and rage continually and compromises then that can effect and damage a person's health. It can cause depression as it remains suppressed. Catharsis can be a good therapyfor your all round well being.
@mena seven I wonder if God would agree. Many Bible passages give Clues to how man and his actions angers God. Do you think man is controlling God? Although I agree that men should not keep their anger bottled up, they should use their anger to motivate them to purchase military style weapons, train how to use them and join a militia. The reason why so many people in the Army commit suicide, is the army lies to our soldiers telling them about al-Qaeda in Iraq, babies being killed in incubators, 911 lies and weapons of mass destruction to get our soldiers angry enough to fight and drop bombs on villages of women and children. There is no free speech in the military so our soldiers can't learn how they were lied to and manipulated. When they get out of the service they learn the truth about the lies and commit suicide. This is why it's important to reach these soldiers and let them know that even though they fought for Satan's War, they can repent and fight as a soldier for Christ. The Bible says to helped Christ carry his cross. The devil tried to change the meaning of cross, into two sticks Crossing each other. But the word "cross" actually means anger. I just tell myself, wait for a while and just let it pass, If you act on it you will regret it. Almost 100% of the time I appreciate that I wanted . It really confirms the believe that waiting is best . So the more you practice waiting the easier it becomes to convince your brain to wait.
I get angry at people who are interfering with my tranquility in life. And my anger helps them realize they need to be more aware of their surroundings. My anger is justified because I only get angry at things that cause problems. I get angry at people who break and hurt people for fun. And that will never change.

There’s a difference between anger and assertiveness. Anger involves a loss of control, or bullying as a way to assert dominance. Assertiveness is controlled and measured. It understands the position of the other person.

"Anything that begins in anger ends in shame" I have just recently discovered this. It doesn't matter if the anger is "justified" (whatever that means); actions that manifest from it end in a distancing from that for which we strive.
This is why I've been gravitating toward Stoicism. It's so very practical for everyday life. It's one of the philosophies that has actually helped me change.
The worst thing that can accompany anger is pride about being angry. I decided to never ever be angry again, it hurts me primarily. I serve people, as long as I see fit and necessary, but when they cross the line I just say no. And I say it calmly with a lot of confidence. This has helped me a lot with anger management, because people tend to get comfortable when you're trying to help them out and that used to set me on fire, the audacity, the injustice, cruelty and selfishness that people show when you help them... But now I just say no. Sometimes I justify it shortly sometimes I just say , I don't want to, it depends. But no is no. I used to think that saying no is cruel, it turns out that cruelty is when you "spoil" people with serving each one of their desires.You hurt them, and you hurt yourself too. Also one needs to remember, that choosing peace in tough situations is like being your own best friend. You know you will never ever add up to it... And the more vile people are the more stoic and forgiving and also firm and assistive you need to become.

I appreciate the stoic philosophy.. one trick I learned from Paramahansa Yogananda is to train your mind to hear the sound of a peaceful river stream before you react or speak upon provocation..it changes everything!
I am in general a kind and caring soul, but have always had problems with a quick temper. I find the strategies that are suggested here to be effective. At least for myself ....especially preparing your mind whenever possible before the potential event that may cause anger and catching it quickly, and secondly and I emphasize this part...keep your damn mouth shut until you have calmed down. Just don't talk while angry and you won't say something you will regret.
Righteous anger is an important distinction to understand when you feel anger. You cannot rid yourself of a basic emotion and therefore the only solution is to harness its potential for good.

Anger is fuel needed to arrive at a better place. Rage is what happens when that fuel is lit on fire and explodes burning everything around it and turning it into ashes and toxic fumes that suffocate the possibility of reaching that better place.
Wrong. Anger is a curse, not a gift, and what you speak of is "negative drive". Negative drive is always inferior to positive drive, because negative and positive driving motivations will both lead to the desired outcome, except negative drive brings with it frustration, misery, an inability to enjoy the moment, and a likeliness to bring down others. No emotion has brought more pain and suffering into this world than anger and all of its minions, and it is not even very good at what it is intended for (prompting action). It is one of the few emotions which is genuinely a bug, not a feature. I agree with Seneca.
I’ve come such a long way.. but when I’m mad, I’m MAD and I hate that characteristic about me because me emotions at that moment arent ME. It’s me in that moment, but when I’m good.. I’m good. What I’ve learned about anger is that it is only the top of the iceberg…there are other underlying emotions like for example: humiliation,fear,frustration etc. Next time you get angry pay attention to other underlying emotions. Anger allowed me to identify those hidden emotions that need healing and are usually connected to childhood trauma. In other words anger is trying to tell you that there’s something wrong. Also pay attention to the thoughts you have while you’re angry.
Among the handful of my regretful actions I look back on, anger is often at the core of those. That said, I can't quite seem to let go of it for the fact that (for me, personally) it can also be useful. Gotta say that a touch of anger channelled at the right time just gets things done for me. Problem is, it can't be moderately or predictably tapped into. It has a life of it's own, no different than an electrical current, tornado, or any other force of nature
One correction: more in depth psychological study has proven that acting out angry feelings ( like punching a pillow) magnifies angry feelings like throwing gas on a fire. Thanks for sharing what you have learned.
A lot of things are natural in us, when it comes to anger the idea is to destroy it (e.i. 10 steps) before it gets out of hand and harm yourself and others.
I found as I’ve gotten older anger drives from an accumulation of bothersome situations that weren’t properly addressed or dealt with.. then the boil over affect happens. I personally do not believe anger is a spontaneous emotion, but a inadequate ability to address personal conflict without being able to express it properly. “I’m mad because you peed on my shoes, but I’m angry because I don’t know how to deal with this situation…” resulting in me reverting to primal emotional instincts.
I do truly believe that to master your mental health you should keep your teaching about it simple. Because the mind is simple, to comprehend something complex I all always break it down into it's small little ideas. Like a concept on anything, in order to understand it you need to master all the little ideas that make it. This is why I apply stoicism to everything I do. Thanks for reading people.

the most powerful realization i ever had was that when i got triggered i was basically saying i allow other people to control me. Once i realized that i decided i wasn't going to allow that. I am the boss of me and hence my happiness is my responsibility. :)
I found Number 10 quite helpful for me, the reflections told me much about myself and much about the mental-weight I was unconsciously carrying. After consideration of what I control in this world vs. what I don't, much of my triggers dicipated. The anger in my mind has not abated entirely, however it is far more tame and a shadow of its former self
Anger is a feeling one gets from a perceived wrong. The feeling is unpleasant however I understand that I cannot control the feeling but I can control how I choose to manage my feelings of anger. I use belly breathing, express my thoughts and feelings with someone I trust, go exercise etc…. I use tools that will help me cool down. I acknowledge my feelings I no longer Bottle up my emotions. Anger is not a bad thing it’s how you deal with it.
Two thing I have learnt is when you feel annoyed you will get anger easier and so much anger come from annoyance and some are come form disdain How to deal with anger,annoyance and disdain are " always know that the world will not go along with your will" ; "always know anger is fire ; annoyance is fire ; disdain is heat and you are fuel or the man who use the fire"

The supposition to banish angry thoughts seems like being angry at angry thoughts. Perhaps compassion and contemplation are more productive and practical? Anger At racism, inequalities, physical threats etc seems an important emotion. And then how it is used. Or not.
Entertaining vid. It seems to me that our reaction to the chemical process in our body we call anger is the real problem. Anger isn't evil in itself. It just is. Sometimes anger drives people to great art and music while seeking to manage it. Anger acted upon rashly and immediately is evil.
Most of the time, the root of the anger is a void in the person that someone triggered ( All going back to Childhood). The more sense of self and whole one becomes, the less anger one experiences, internally and externally.

Anger in itself is not necessarily a bad thing. It's just one emotion among many we as humans experience, and is often warranted. Anger can be a great motivator when channeled towards positive outcomes. The problem lies in the way so many people process their anger, where that anger gets directed and how it is expressed.

Seneca came up with all this before social media started eroding our body, mind and souls. We need to put down our phones. Start channeling our anger into moving, exercise, creating arts, playing instruments singing.... LIVING.
There’s nothing wrong with anger, emotions are messages and sometimes your anger is telling that a boundary is being overstepped. It’s a message telling you to protect yourself, given it’s healthy and not misplaced anger.

Its perfectly normal to be angry yes but I think the point here is not to hang onto anger to long "like a hot coal" also you choose how you respond to the anger
I see what you are saying and I would say it’s ok to experience the emotion. But I disagree that there is nothing wrong with the emotion. I just feel like that’s a way to justify a negative emotion that might not be able to be controlled by someone. I’m up for a debate. P.s. @@Intelligent_Ministry I don’t think there’s anything bad or wrong about any emotion including anger. As long as it’s processed and expressed in a healthy way and not used as an excuse to hurt others. Emotions are feedback, they show us our internal reality. Sometimes the anger may seem unnecessary but it’s an opportunity to dig and inquire about why it’s there.. sometimes it’s a false story we are telling ourselves that’s causing the anger. Or maybe someone crossed a boundary, so communication is necessary. Either way by identifying why it’s there resolution can be found. I think it’s important to use emotions as information rather then suppress or deny them :)

The only reason I say that the emotion is bad is because if not controlled or taken care of it can cause a lot of harm to either yourself or to others around you . That sort of energy (or any energy on that level) can cause a ripple effect as well. What is a good way that anger could be used?
I have always struggled with anger , resentments, and unforgiveness. I have been working on it with a therapist and 12 step sponsor, and it is getting better. I was told that resentments only hurt you, not the wrongdoers. I had to write down my resentments and how they affected me to see the damage to motivate me to let go. I also had to write down my part in the resentments so I could see where i was in the wrong, make amends, change behaviors, build my character and reconcile relationships if appropriate. Obviously there are some situations you don't play a part like if you were abused. I really get into psychology and human behavior so I like to understand why people act how they do for example mental illness. It helps to have compassion on them and to wish them well. This is NOT justifying or condoning it just helps to understand, have compassion, and wish them well. Its also not good to get revenge, not only because of consequence but they will get their karma and there will be justice. If it motivates them to change and make amends be happy for them.

When confronted with “danger” the choice is simple , perish or fight. Fight could be fight or flight. All this happens Instantly. However under normal circumstances one could try to control his / her anger. Most of the time the problem is that one can not control someone else’s anger. So not always you can be Seneca, you cannot just listen to the music. When you meet Hitler You might have to fight.
First Last you can only control your own reaction in life . And with me I find the only reason to fight is if your cornered and have to, then let that kill or be killed mentality kick in and you’ll never lose. Anybody can throw a punch , but it takes a real strong person to walk away.
Anger is practical in life threatening situations. The aggression part of it at least. I’m referring to situations our ancestors commonly found themselves in. Being eaten by wild animals and the like. The problem is that people use the same time-tested reactions in the modern age, where most problems are not literally and directly life threatening. People walk around angry over perceived slights. Something in the subconscious of the average person today senses the equivalent of imminent physical danger in something as simple as a dirty look.
These are all great BUT much easier said than done. It’s a life long process to improve my control over anger . One of my triggers is people not doing their job when I’ve done my part ! I have no control and a 3rd party suffers. And when I feel disrespected
There are times, for various reasons, that I can become very angry. Sometimes it's frustration with my own limitations, sometimes it's just because I need to eat. Either way, as a kid, I put WAY too many holes in walls and destroyed lots of material possessions. One way I've found to release the anger in a less-than-destructive way is to grab my favorite claw hammer and head out to the wood shed. If I just wail away on a round of firewood for about 30 seconds, I can let the anger out without hurting anyone and most times, I get a fresh bundle of kindling for my fireplace. It's an extreme level of violence in a controlled setting. It's therapy.✌️😎
Anger is essential part off every person. I learned how to not run from your anger but express it in intelligent and patient way. There is no chance off living and not getting bullied etcetera if you wont use your anger in intelligent out of the box way and target those who deserve it and not hose who you love.

That could be because your body is flooding with adrenaline. It’s an ancient, natural reaction, so don’t worry about it. It’s a fight or flight reaction. Adrenaline in the body, if not used to run away from a sabre toothed tiger or fight the tribe trespassing on your territory, will make your muscles feel weak and heavy, bring you out in a cold sweat, gives you the shakes and many other things, even make you feel ill.
I think there's another perspective to look at here. Many a times, the anger inside when channeled at improving yourself at a particular thing, in a positive way takes you to a new height. Anger helps you get through that difficult session, which otherwise, you'd probably give up on.
i feel anger every day but I let it out a little at a time thru sarcasm or working out at the gym. I don't usually let it build up enough to blow. I also laugh every single day. I think that helps balance everything out.

This is all very good advice! I often follow these rules in everyday life. For example whenever somebody tries to insult me or shout at me I use to react in a calm and polite way and I ask him whether he needs help or whether he is not feeling well. This is the best way I can beat him and not get angry myself.

While irrational anger is deserved to be controlled there are situations and times when one needs to be angry instead of becoming passive spectators of some ills being carried out.
Anger can motivate also to something creative work and many a great creative works has on its back an angry past of the creators out of victim of deprivation and exploitations.

Anger is damaging I'm recovering from anger issues. I tend to bottle things up a lot, so when I burst I burst and make sure I completely hurt whoever my anger is directed towards. I thought that was power but I realized calmness is true power. And people hate it when you're calm because they don't know what is what. These days I try to use negative emotions as a fuel to do positive things. e.g when I remember something that makes me angry and can't get it out of my mind, I clean my room or do any physical activity that is productive to instill order in my mind and emotional system.

Yeah I'd never get over the fact that if my future was in the hands of total fools, there's no way in hell I'd ever not be pissed at that fact that we cannot control the outside world. In my opinion I'd think to not lash out is to allow bullshit the perpetuate. Better to be pissed off than to be complicit in the face of unacceptable behavior. Anger can be used as an energy source, to push one through any obstacle. So in my case I've found it to be the opposite of Marcus's quote. Because I come off strong, I less frequently have to deal with situations that would otherwise anger me anyway, as people can see you arnt here to play, and theyll get out of your way. A rather constructive way other than punching and kicking and screaming, unless that is required.

Yes! I love this. I have been practicing so much with allowing my emotions to MOVE through me, not settle. It becomes a problem when it settles. Allowing my emotions to move through me while still acknowledging it allows me to then analyze after and think more logically about why I was feeling that way and how to either prevent or guide myself through it if it happens again!

I hate getting angry. I've found that the moment I give in to expressing my anger it's like a wild animal escaped from its cage. I have control so long as I keep the cage door closed but if I open it just a little, to let off a little steam, it will often bust loose and escape and it's very hard, at that point, to contain. It's better for me to simply smile and walk away.

I could remember several years ago I suffered from severe depression and mental disorder. This is why I've been gravitating toward Stoicism. It's so very practical for everyday life. It's one of the philosophies that has actually helped me change.
The worst thing that can accompany anger is pride about being angry. I decided to never ever be angry again, it hurts me primarily. I serve people, as long as I see fit and necessary, but when they cross the line I just say no. And I say it calmly with a lot of confidence. This has helped me a lot with anger management, because people tend to get comfortable when you're trying to help them out and that used to set me on fire, the audacity, the injustice, cruelty and selfishness that people show when you help them... But now I just say no. Sometimes I justify it shortly sometimes I just say , I don't want to, it depends. But no is no. I used to think that saying no is cruel, it turns out that cruelty is when you "spoil" people with serving each one of their desires.You hurt them, and you hurt yourself too. Also one needs to remember, that choosing peace in tough situations is like being your own best friend. You know you will never ever add up to it... And the more vile people are the more stoic and forgiving and also firm and assistive you need to become.
So remain quiet, patient and be strategically vengeful.

I appreciate the stoic philosophy.. one trick I learned from Paramahansa Yogananda is to train your mind to hear the sound of a peaceful river stream before you react or speak upon provocation..it changes everything!
I am in general a kind and caring soul, but have always had problems with a quick temper. I find the strategies that are suggested here to be effective. At least for myself ....especially preparing your mind whenever possible before the potential event that may cause anger and catching it quickly, and secondly and I emphasize this part...keep your damn mouth shut until you have calmed down. Just don't talk while angry and you won't say something you will regret.
Righteous anger is an important distinction to understand when you feel anger. You cannot rid yourself of a basic emotion and therefore the only solution is to harness its potential for good.

Negative drive is always inferior to positive drive, because negative and positive driving motivations will both lead to the desired outcome, except negative drive brings with it frustration, misery, an inability to enjoy the moment, and a likeliness to bring down others. No emotion has brought more pain and suffering into this world than anger and all of its minions, and it is not even very good at what it is intended for (prompting action). It is one of the few emotions which is genuinely a bug, not a feature. I agree with Seneca.

I’ve come such a long way.. but when I’m mad, I’m MAD and I hate that characteristic about me because me emotions at that moment arent ME.
It’s me in that moment, but when I’m good.. I’m good. Nobody ever chooses to see the good though. Or stop and think why or what made me this way, we all got a story. People just don’t be born mad at the universe lol.

What I’ve learned about anger is that it is only the top of the iceberg…there are other underlying emotions like for example: humiliation,fear,frustration etc. Next time you get angry pay attention to other underlying emotions. Anger allowed me to identify those hidden emotions that need healing and are usually connected to childhood trauma. In other words anger is trying to tell you that there’s something wrong. Also pay attention to the thoughts you have while you’re angry.

Among the handful of my regretful actions I look back on, anger is often at the core of those. That said, I can't quite seem to let go of it for the fact that (for me, personally) it can also be useful. Gotta say that a touch of anger channelled at the right time just gets things done for me. Problem is, it can't be moderately or predictably tapped into. It has a life of it's own, no different than an electrical current, tornado, or any other force of nature
One correction: more in depth psychological study has proven that acting out angry feelings ( like punching a pillow) magnifies angry feelings like throwing gas on a fire.

I found as I’ve gotten older anger drives from an accumulation of bothersome situations that weren’t properly addressed or dealt with.. then the boil over affect happens. I personally do not believe anger is a spontaneous emotion, but a inadequate ability to address personal conflict without being able to express it properly. “I’m mad because you peed on my shoes, but I’m angry because I don’t know how to deal with this situation…” resulting in me reverting to primal emotional instincts.
I do truly believe that to master your mental health you should keep your teaching about it simple. Because the mind is simple, to comprehend something complex I all always break it down into it's small little ideas. Like a concept on anything, in order to understand it you need to master all the little ideas that make it. This is why I apply stoicism to everything I do.

I’d argue that anger, when properly controlled and funneled, is one of the most powerful and useful drives to action available. It is wrath and hatred that should be eliminated.

I found Number 10 quite helpful for me, the reflections told me much about myself and much about the mental-weight I was unconsciously carrying. After consideration of what I control in this world vs. what I don't, much of my triggers dicipated. Anger is a feeling one gets from a perceived wrong. The feeling is unpleasant however I understand that I cannot control the feeling but I can control how I choose to manage my feelings of anger. I use belly breathing, express my thoughts and feelings with someone I trust, go exercise etc…. I use tools that will help me cool down. I acknowledge my feelings I no longer Bottle up my emotions. Most of the time, the root of the anger is a void in the person that someone triggered ( All going back to Childhood). The more sense of self and whole one becomes, the less anger one experiences, internally and externally.
I am watching at 4:27 in the morning... I will listen to this. I hope it will have a great impact on me. I to have anger issues diagnosed with ASPD. I hope I can find ways to control my tantrums with this knowledge.

Anger in itself is not necessarily a bad thing. It's just one emotion among many we as humans experience, and is often warranted. Anger can be a great motivator when channeled towards positive outcomes. The problem lies in the way so many people process their anger, where that anger gets directed and how it is expressed.

Seneca came up with all this before social media started eroding our body, mind and souls. We need to put down our phones. Start channeling our anger into moving, exercise, creating arts, playing instruments singing.... LIVING.
There’s nothing wrong with anger, emotions are messages and sometimes your anger is telling that a boundary is being overstepped. It’s a message telling you to protect yourself, given it’s healthy and not misplaced anger.
@Melisa Osm Hi from Melbourne, Australia! I totally agree with you, we have lots of emotions and we need to express them all. When triggered, in a healthy and balanced manner. Otherwise, if kept bottled up and left to go stale, they can be used incorrectly. If you are angry, then speak. Happy, then laugh, emotional then cry etc. etc. Take care in these uncertain times, catch ya later. (slang for see ya in Australia)
Its perfectly normal to be angry yes but I think the point here is not to hang onto anger to long "like a hot coal" also you choose how you respond to the anger
I see what you are saying and I would say it’s ok to experience the emotion. But I disagree that there is nothing wrong with the emotion. I just feel like that’s a way to justify a negative emotion that might not be able to be controlled by someone. I’m up for a debate.
P.s. I grew up with anger problems , so just know and note that I’m not attacking you 🙂
@@Intelligent_Ministry I don’t think there’s anything bad or wrong about any emotion including anger. As long as it’s processed and expressed in a healthy way and not used as an excuse to hurt others. Emotions are feedback, they show us our internal reality. Sometimes the anger may seem unnecessary but it’s an opportunity to dig and inquire about why it’s there.. sometimes it’s a false story we are telling ourselves that’s causing the anger. Or maybe someone crossed a boundary, so communication is necessary. Either way by identifying why it’s there resolution can be found. I think it’s important to use emotions as information rather then suppress or deny them :)
@@Melisaosm You know... That’s a very great way to put it . I can’t really say too much on that besides I can agree with that standpoint. The only reason I say that the emotion is bad is because if not controlled or taken care of it can cause a lot of harm to either yourself or to others around you . That sort of energy (or any energy on that level) can cause a ripple effect as well. What is a good way that anger could be used?
I have always struggled with anger , resentments, and unforgiveness. I have been working on it with a therapist and 12 step sponsor, and it is getting better. I was told that resentments only hurt you, not the wrongdoers. I had to write down my resentments and how they affected me to see the damage to motivate me to let go. I also had to write down my part in the resentments so I could see where i was in the wrong, make amends, change behaviors, build my character and reconcile relationships if appropriate. Obviously there are some situations you don't play a part like if you were abused. I really get into psychology and human behavior so I like to understand why people act how they do for example mental illness. It helps to have compassion on them and to wish them well. This is NOT justifying or condoning it just helps to understand, have compassion, and wish them well. Its also not good to get revenge, not only because of consequence but they will get their karma and there will be justice. If it motivates them to change and make amends be happy for them.

@@carlorizzo827 It was a video about Epitectus, I think (100 ADor CE) where he claimed the only part of me I can control is what I believe. Ithink thAT's useful. Another pert of me tries to keep on the lookout (as far aspossible) to notice "about myself" my ability to think clearly without emotions pushing aside.
Thank you, yep I dig stoics, does help. "Notice" definittely was a buzzword in early therapy. A later therapist called it "observer self"
When confronted with “danger” the choice is simple , perish or fight. Fight could be fight or flight. All this happens Instantly.
However under normal circumstances one could try to control his / her anger. Most of the time the problem is that one can not control someone else’s anger. So not always you can be Seneca, you cannot just listen to the music. When you meet Hitler You might have to fight.
also I think making body reactions cerebral is also damaging.
First Last you can only control your own reaction in life . And with me I find the only reason to fight is if your cornered and have to, then let that kill or be killed mentality kick in and you’ll never lose. Anybody can throw a punch , but it takes a real strong person to walk away.
Anger is practical in life threatening situations. The aggression part of it at least. I’m referring to situations our ancestors commonly found themselves in. Being eaten by wild animals and the like.
The problem is that people use the same time-tested reactions in the modern age, where most problems are not literally and directly life threatening. People walk around angry over perceived slights. Something in the subconscious of the average person today senses the equivalent of imminent physical danger in something as simple as a dirty look.
These are all great BUT much easier said than done. It’s a life long process to improve my control over anger . One of my triggers is people not doing their job when I’ve done my part ! I have no control and a 3rd party suffers. And when I feel disrespected

There are times, for various reasons, that I can become very angry. Sometimes it's frustration with my own limitations, sometimes it's just because I need to eat. Either way, as a kid, I put WAY too many holes in walls and destroyed lots of material possessions.
One way I've found to release the anger in a less-than-destructive way is to grab my favorite claw hammer and head out to the wood shed. If I just wail away on a round of firewood for about 30 seconds, I can let the anger out without hurting anyone and most times, I get a fresh bundle of kindling for my fireplace. It's an extreme level of violence in a controlled setting. It's therapy.✌️😎

Anger is essential part off every person. I learned how to not run from your anger but express it in intelligent and patient way. There is no chance off living and not getting bullied etcetera if you wont use your anger in intelligent out of the box way and target those who deserve it and not hose who you love.

That could be because your body is flooding with adrenaline. It’s an ancient, natural reaction, so don’t worry about it. It’s a fight or flight reaction. Adrenaline in the body, if not used to run away from a sabre toothed tiger or fight the tribe trespassing on your territory, will make your muscles feel weak and heavy, bring you out in a cold sweat, gives you the shakes and many other things, even make you feel ill.

I think there's another perspective to look at here. Many a times, the anger inside when channeled at improving yourself at a particular thing, in a positive way takes you to a new height. Anger helps you get through that difficult session, which otherwise, you'd probably give up on.

i feel anger every day but I let it out a little at a time thru sarcasm or working out at the gym. I don't usually let it build up enough to blow. I also laugh every single day. I think that helps balance everything out.

This is all very good advice! I often follow these rules in everyday life. For example whenever somebody tries to insult me or shout at me I use to react in a calm and polite way and I ask him whether he needs help or whether he is not feeling well. This is the best way I can beat him and not get angry myself.
