Thank you for watching this video. Hope you liked it. We would like to apologize for not being consistent with our uploads but now we will be uploading a video every alternate Sunday. We are also planning to change the name of the channel from Downtown Success to Philosophies of life since this channel is now all about giving philosophical wisdom for modern day success. Do let us know your thoughts.
Good video. Agree with most of what is said here. I feel like having a good self esteem is just what I need to propel my life to that extra level. I'm doing OK, succeeding in MOST areas of my life, but I DO tend to get down on myself for the "little things" that I seem to not do so well. ANd I do tend to focus on these. I especially like the last part, the GRATITUDE JOURNAL and DAILY SUCCESS JOURNAL. Will try to implement that ASAP. Any more tips on developing self effifacy to a greater level would be appreciated. AT the moment my biggest vice is my weight, a constant struggle to lose weight, but after watching some of these "tips", I feel just a bit more confident to do so. Great video, again, hope to watch more in the future. Cheers....
This is so interesting. I just wish you had another title. I want to share this with folks who could do with the philosophy and attitude and habits and thoughts ... Oh the wisdom taught in this short powerful video. Only, they'll see the title and not even open it. Oh, woe! Will be following with action these pearls of wisdom. Thank you for posting!
The way I built *_self-confidence_* was through exposing myself to the experience. What do you not feel confident about? Is it socializing? Then continually expose yourself in social situations and through the experience self-confidence will emerge
1. Build your character. 2. Self love. 3. Focus on your quality of thoughts. 4. Make a plan and stop thinking. 5. Be true to your words. 6. Own your actions. 7. Don't talk too much about yourself. 8. Remind yourself of death. memento mori 9. Ignore the naysayers. 10. Have an evening confidence ritual.
What I've been doing lately is to think about myself in a factual way, and to not consider anything that's not factual. My insecurities are not based on fact, rather my own negative self-image that comes as a result of self-loathing thoughts and feelings. Facts enables me to see myself with humility, not the embellished version that only I can see. As an example, I don't have a lot of confidence with women. When approaching someone, I would always defeat myself saying "Why would a girl like that want to go out with a two-time loser like me?" So instead, I focus on the facts. I tell myself that from her point of view, I'm somewhat good looking, smart enough to hold a conversation and funny. That's more than what most guys have, so that gives me the confidence to talk to attractive females. Even if the facts do point a negative conclusion, I will see that I'm not nearly as bad as I think, because I always tend to exaggerate thoughts about myself. The more scientific I am while decision making, usually the better off I am.
With women, less is more. Never act like it's your job to entertain them when talking to them. You're worth it and you need not give off the heir that they are doing you à fàvor by allowing you to talk to them. A , healthy conversation is a "two-way street" with two active participants. Finàlly, it's easy to get intimidated by good looks yet keep in mind women are not nearly as self-assured as they let on. They face a lot of social pressures when it comes to appearance and it can cause even the beautiful ones a lot of grief. Some are quite sick of appearance always at such a forefront and would love for a man to dwell upon another good quality they possess. If you find it and remark about it she will see great depth in you and that will make you very original and interesting - that's a great start, don't you think?? All the best to you,; good times are ahead - you're going to do better and better with time and experience!! And speaking of experience, I have some. So please consider my counsel aforementioned above.
Life and people are gonna do their utmost to devalue you and see you at the bottom of the pit. People love watching others fail. If you don't love yourself and accept their perceptions you're letting others dictate your existence and reality. Ignore all, respect yourself, love yourself, and do your thing. The reason others attack you and devalue you is due to their own insecurities. The only reason others blatantly bring you down in various ways is because deep inside those same people are way below you and are trying to drag you down with them. Ignore them and don't say anything. This is the reason 99.9 fail in life. They let corpses around them drag them down. Key in life is to detach yourself from everyone. Even family. Because opinions of the family have the biggest weight on our existence, and one non supportive comment from them can annihilate your entire world.
OMG.Just discovered your channel. Im in LUV! Thank you,Thank you. I know this will have a huge impact on my life. From morning to night I've listened to your channel. I am so happy and grateful that I do a gratitude list every evening! I've developed this skill some years ago and I still do it. It's amazing! I also found myself years ago the fact about "stop thinking, start doing". :) Still, I seem not to apply it all the time. As a child I was good at ignoring the naysayers and people who insult/offend. But recently, I seem to be affected by such people. Something to work on. I also need to work on the quality of my thoughts... some improvement this year, but still a long way to go... I don't understand the first point about the character. I take it as having values and sticking to them, but for me "character" means something else. I believe I am true to my words, own my actions, practise self love, and don't talk too much about myself (although, in front of some people I do - it is just their energy that makes me feel I am safe to do it). I also remind myself about death occassionally, but in the bad way. I need to turn it into motivation and inspiration to live life at its fullest. :)

"If you are overweight and someone calls you fat, you think less of yourself." - How can I not think that when even my parents keep telling me how bad my legs look or how I don't fit certain jeans well. When the people who made you talk you like this, trust me, you will feel very, very miserable.
"how can I not think that"... The answer is: just don't... this is easier said hard to do, but that's how it is (and for some reason generally women have harder time doing this). Detach yourself from what they say, if you must detach yourself from them. That's the only way. Don't believe what they say about you, make the decision to not believe. Then if and when you feel like losing weight (IF you actually need and want to), do so for yourself. If you do it because what others say or think about you, you may look better or be healthier, but you'll be as miserable as before, because people will say other shitty things about you. People like putting others down. So first change your attitude towards what others think about you. Don't base your self worth on it. Only you can make the decision not to. Decide so and stick to it. It may take some time to implement the decision, but be patient and stick to the decision.

Hi Steve, you may also want to check our video on How To Build More Confidence In Yourself at ruclips.net/video/6Ft-ssIcDd4/видео.html In this episode we cover what confidence really is, two reasons that prevent us from accessing it, 3 ways how to build confidence within, and what to do in the interim whilst your cultivating confidence!
Kindness is not necessarily a virtue nor a sign of a strong character. Better to be temperate than kind, for the temperate are respected, whereas the kind are frequently seen as having a character that is nice, compromising and weak.
Philosophies for Life: stop procrastinating and just start doing! Me: must watch another Philosophies for Life video to learn how to be more productive.
I don’t know....I think planning is an action. Surely you’ve heard the saying ‘failing to plan is planning to fail.’ Having a well researched plan can definitely build confidence.
Interesting (and weird) promotion of the ketogenic diet amidst some "advice from" Marcus Aurelius (spotted amidst some very vague advice. Yet, I think these are a great start. People will need at least a little more than this, it's a great START.
Very difficult to have a philosophy, without that type of society around you. Obviously, an emperor is never concerned with other people's opinion, unless it threatened his reign. An emperor could resort to wars to increase his confidence and status. He could also gather around him the best minds of the entire empire.
All is nice and well but the main implication remains - the great outside is your judge and your master you try to please/contribute via stocism and all that good virtuous stuff. If you feel a loser who does not live up to the external expectations stoicism is here to help to numb yourself but keep trying.
The point of stoicism is that no matter what happens outside, only your own thoughts and judgements define your experience. You always have the choice of how to deal with something. If the 'great outside' judges you, that is still only something you yourself choose to appraise as something to take into account or not. Even if your entire environment says it's wrong, that doesn't necessarily make it so! And if you truly agree with it, then that is something you choose to work with.

7. Talking much about oneself is a basis for PR.
I watch it daily.
I believe the stoicism works.
Moreover its hard to quench your appetite .
I feel more focused
This is what I mean by me getting better advice on here then from actual people
I mean he is a person telling Us by just someone telling Me things...this is far more clear then any of the advice I've gotten
His observation that; there is no person so important as oneself,
yet, one's own opinion seems far
less important than other's.

@@thewellnesstheory thank you, I’m super confident. I just see threw everything & find being a singer songwriter extremely challenging in these times.
Awesome videos! Make a video about stoicism on war please. Thanks 👍
Kindness is not necessarily a virtue nor a sign of a strong character. Better to be temperate than kind, for the temperate are respected, whereas the kind are frequently seen as having a character that is nice, compromising and weak.
Thank you for this, Great video :)
Super Video - thanks!!
Ignore all how people value or say about you. They don’t have power over your life. Only you who nurture all about yourself
Who is the voice over to these videos - he sounds just fab and really a perfect fit!
Philosophies for Life: stop procrastinating and just start doing!
Me: must watch another Philosophies for Life video to learn how to be more productive.
Thank you. Very succinct presentation!
Thank you very much 😑🙏🏼
this is so stephen covey. i love the strength and simplicity of stoicism. it makes such sense that all their likenesses are carved out of marble
This is one of the best of the best!
Great stuff. Many thanks for sharing
I don’t know....I think planning is an action. Surely you’ve heard the saying ‘failing to plan is planning to fail.’ Having a well researched plan can definitely build confidence.
i think he means plan, but dont dwell too much on the planning and research that u never actually start whatever it is you are going to do
Speak for yourself.
Is hate not the opposite of love? If we react to good with love? With what do we react with to evil?
Thanks so much
Thank you for the awesome body of work. I feel fortunate to have stumbled on your channel.
Interesting (and weird) promotion of the ketogenic diet amidst some "advice from" Marcus Aurelius (spotted amidst some very vague advice. Yet, I think these are a great start. People will need at least a little more than this, it's a great START.
I really love your work and it would be wonderful if the voice in the video could speak not so fast😅!Thank you very much!
The opening quote was Epictetus:)
How many journals do you need? There is an other one from Seneca on Anger.
Go back in time and change that moment that certain people proactively tried to hurt you in.
Thank You.
Very difficult to have a philosophy, without that type of society around you. Obviously, an emperor is never concerned with other people's opinion, unless it threatened his reign. An emperor could resort to wars to increase his confidence and status. He could also gather around him the best minds of the entire empire.
Thank you for the video. Excellent work!
Made me cry.
i love myself four times a week!
Great video and content as always.
6:46 I need this on a 10 hour loop. lol
