- Here's another extension I made but never uploaded due to Nintendo being copyright monsters. There's already an "extension" of this, but it's just the part where the Red Star power up is gonna run out repeated... so I decided to make a "No Speed Up" version.
This power up was so underutilized. It deserve more of a purpose albeit it was fun to fly around the observatory.

Imagine galaxy 3 being an open world universe. Flying around the universe going super sonic fast, discovering galaxies, no hub world.

Probably one of the strongest forms mario took. No wing cap, no launch star, no bullshit, just fueled by the power of the red star alone.
Despite playing this game when I was younger, I can't seem to feel the same heartwarming nostalgia that people describe for Gusty Garden Galaxy or Good Egg Galaxy's theme. This game is near and dear to my heart, and it's a shame that even it can't manage to evoke some profound childhood memories in me.
But this, ironically is what does it. I remember using the Red Star on the Comet Observatory and just flying around as much as I could before it ran out. And I always remember how I'd get frantic as this song climaxed, since it signaled the end of the powerup's duration. So listening it to it again years later, I can finally remember that same feeling of panicking and desperately trying to find a platform before the Red Star wore out xD
It’s funnier if you try to glitch out the game and fall away from the comet observatory.

For me it's this, gateway galaxy and all 3 comet observatories. I hear gusty garden galaxy too much In other media for it to really fade into nostalgia imo

This sounds similar to the music when the comet observatory has full power and when you're ready to save Peach.

Gotta admit this is definitely one of the best power up themes in the entire series as it feels so good to fly around and have loads of fun
Man, Super Mario Galaxy's soundtrack is so good that even the game doesn't do it justice at times, like how Buoy Base Galaxy has its very own theme but only 2 stars or how you wouldn't be able to listen to Star Ball 2 at consistent speed. This powerup is also utilized once in the game and then only for the hub world.
Still the most hype moment in the game to me.

If nintendo ever makes another 3d open-ish world game, i want this to return, it was so much fun to fly around and just get scenic views, and the colors used are pretty nice too

Flying around the ship with this powerup, going towards the sun or to the deepest dephts of the universe. Super Mario Galaxy made me feel things no other game could.
Now it is coming back to the switch I will hear this theme again

This powerup should be obtainable in every single galaxy at the start and last indefinitely upon 100%ing the game, as well as all death barriers being removed. Why not? There's nothing else to do except mess around, and nothing would be more fun than flying around, say, Good Egg Galaxy, freely. The planets would have to be moved closer for that to work though.

Fun fact: This variant without the speed up also plays when you’re about to consider visiting the center of the universe!
Another fun fact: You can fly towards the special bonus galaxies that came from hungry lumas using this powerup!
