I work in the civil service now. It’s all about diversity is our strength. Nothing about the job these days only social justice. We need to sack 50% of the current lot in the civil service.

Tories/John Major and then it went into overdrive with Blair/Labour. We were actually given sheets of words and phrases we could no longer use, it was nothing short of insanity!

I work for a huge multinational financial institution and the Mrs the NHS. The amount of CRT messaging/seminars/networking events we receive through work would shock people.

I can guarantee you that the woke language is getting to a point where our own language is being constorted into a language we don’t understand. We speak a common language not a posh plum language, we speak as we find and now we’re told we can’t say this or that. The amount of depression in the workplace is bad, you can’t have any banter or anything. We live and work in a very depressed and sick country.
I took early retirement from courts because I got fed up of people getting bosses jobs because they ticked a box yet had no clue had to do the job, I am told the office now chaotic and 100 days backlog

I'm still railing against pronouns on email signatures and mandatory courses as "allies". Also, giving data asking if you are the same gender you were born and if you have any disabilities. I'm there to work, not be lectured at. Black History Month, "correcting the narrative". Every bloody day and I've been working there for over 40 years now.

It's all so contrived and artificial. A few years ago I had to have a procedure where I was attended to by a young black nurse. What a nice person she was! We chatted quite naturally and I asked her about her background and she was happy to reply. It was a thoroughly interesting conversation and we both were quite natural. I was delighted to meet her, and I hope she saw in me an appreciative patient. The term "micro-aggression" has no place in such an encounter.

I worked in the CS for over 39 years, the last 17 years of which got increasingly hard to deal with. The culture changed from 100% focused on the work and accuracy to mainly focused on behaviours, self development & corporatism.. I found it impossible to stomach towards the end.. I worked with some wonderful and highly skilled people but that couldn't make up for the toxic insane culture that destroyed the CS I joined in the 70s. I blame the huge tier of HR that was given free range and total power over the workforce..
Why specifically 17 years ago? What happened at that time that you remember that as a changing point?

I have to say, you have no idea how bad it really is in the Civil Service (I've been in since 1992, and it's got worse each year). Objectivity is gone, integrity and honesty has gone - but these people think they do meet those values because their ideologies indicate they are "right". As I am close to retirement, I do occasionally challenge and I know many others want to challenge but daren't, especially using the Equality Act 2010 relating to sex and race equality, but the feelings police and victims-by-choice Civil Servants have full control. Just look at the Gender Pay Gap reports and - if you know anything about statistics, you know it is a calculation that will always indicate men are in power, when most Civil Service Departments are 55%+ women and women represent 60%+ of the career starting roles. Their solution is to have 90% of the top roles held by women while only bringing in women throughout the other grades. Equality is not what the CS is attempting to deliver - against the Equality Act requirements that positive discrimination is only used to achieve a specific goal. But they have never defined what the KPIs are that would indicate the goals have been met.
Being asked to apologise in a training course for being white and male caused me to walk out and go to the pub, 50% laughing, 50% livid.
