Or at least increase the spawn rates for them. I barely remember the last time I saw a Kraken, it was around the Hungering One Megalodon event years ago. I'm not sure they're even still in the game, it's been so long.
@@Holmesy87 yeah for real… during that event we had most of the lobby together… it became a nightmare as we had a skeleton fleet, the meg, all the players and a kraken pop up at once
I dissagree with the idea of being able to dive straight to world events, as it means deffenders won't be able to see players coming and it'll feel rather unfair whenever you get jumped at one.
Now you will see ships disappearing all the time. Do you want to chase that ship that has an emissary flag? forget it, already disappeared under the waters.
I'm not sure how I feel about this update. The manual teamwork and exploration aspect is what made the game special to me and now everything is too instant
It's not a required feature. You can still sail to quests if you'd like. I do see where you're coming from though. If a new player embarks onto SoT and uses the teleport feature exclusively, then that's what they'll know and use and lose that exploration us Old Salts fell in love with. That period of meandering to your first voyage of the night where, without loot to lose, you'd be more open to interacting with other ships.
From what we see in the trailer it looks like world events and single destination Voyages will be optimized and take out all the charm of sailing BUT multi island Voyages will still have that charm of sailing but who would do long sailing sessions when you can just do optimal grinding by diving to a world event, selling and repeating.
I mean the teleporting to islands for quest and all is really good no matter what as quest that send you halfway across the map arnt a real problem anymore
not crazy about the dive feature at all. one of my favourite things in the game is seeing ships on the horizon and wondering where they are going knowing that everyone is in a journey. honestly feels like that kind of teleportation should be for Safer Seas only.
Great idea, because it makes it accessible for those who just want to play tall tales and such but keeps other players who want the pirate simulation aspects to still be center
Then, don't use the dive feature. I know a few people who play this game and hate having to sail all the way across the map just to get to what they want to do. Let the people who like it use and the people who don't don't have too.
But if it’s in both, safer seas should have no cooldown and you don’t lose your loot, but in higher seas, there is a cooldown, you lose your loot and you can’t use it in pvp. If this happens, thank you sea of thieves.
actual clown take. they're just giving us the option to start a voyage faster. this means ships on the seas are more likely to have loot to steal, win win for everyone. and since there are 925 more level for each company its nice to save the first 10 minutes of uneventful sailing to start your playsession. not every player wants or can play for multiple hours.
@@thequickraven5876 so what? someone who doesn't want to fight, won't do it either way. If you want to fight someone willing to take part in pvp, use the hourglass. its not that complicated to find a good pvp fight.
I was a bit concerned about the teleportation system. But making it so you lose any treasure or crates on board is a great way to keep from cheesing it!
i was concerned about it as well, before they annonced the fact that you lose your stuff while diving, i was affraid people would just dive away if you try to hunt them down.
I'm a bit more concerned about the fact that while you're doing a world event yourself, another ship can just surface without warning. Not complaining or anything, it just kinda scares me.
@@zeeboss7553While that is true, the human brain has a tendency to, quoting Game Maker’s Toolkit, “optimize the fun out of a game”. We like being productive, so it’s hard to not use a system that saves a ton of time like that, at the cost of immersion. And if you choose not to, the mere fact that it exists will nag at you “hey, you could have already been there and saved a ton of time.”
From what I can tell, it only cuts out the journey at the point you don't have any loot. You don't keep loot. So you can't just dive, finish, dive, finish. Means that the ships you do see are much more likely to have loot on them. Which isn't a bad thing.
Honestly the fast travel isn’t as broken or bad as everyone thinks it is imo, it’s there just to get a session going and can’t be used all the time since it probably has a cool down and drops all of your loot. You’ll still be sailing across the seas since it’s just used at the beginning of a session and you’ll still have to sail to the other islands you need to go to.
“The best that sea of thieves had to offer” was spending time with friends and sailing this seas together with conversation and memories. Once again, you are making things just easier and faster. It is becoming less and less of a pirate game and more and more of what can I do super fast for a lot of gold to grind for a cosmetic. You continue to remove the true sense of accomplishment and are catering to people joining the game for maybe a month, buy a cosmetic and move on. I get it, maybe this is generating the revenue you need, but ultimately it is creating a shortsighted fan base that is getting smaller and smaller.
I feel like losing treasure will balance the game just fine. I understand your concern, but I think this could be a huge W for the community as a whole. Sometimes it really sucks to start a quest that is half a map away because of RNG, and now I get just start at that island, and sail from there. I think it is really smart, but maybe im off here
@@AccelSternritter no crying. Not a single drop. Just pointing out the fact they are continuing to move toward a short term model. Mike is lying, in the last podcast they accidentally entered this subject and everyone looked at each other to know if they could say anything and then mike said that to set us off.
@@loanraymond9654 They looked at each other like that (nervously) because they were trying to figure out which one of them should be the bearer of bad news. They know people want it, and talked about that, but said they had to weigh things like that out with what they have coming down the pipeline update-wise, and that due to all of the other stuff that's coming, we likely won't see an update to Hunter's Call this year
I do not think the teleportation is a very good addition and even though sometimes it might get a bit irritating to travel very far to some places, but I still see travelling there as a crucial experience to sea of thieves. It adds an extra variable of planning out your route, encountering unexpected things, and messing around with friends while you wait to arrive. And now it's just going to be even more stressful to go return your loot, especially if you want to stack up more of it. I also think it will just be regular ambushes from crews that have nothing to lose while you are trying to leave with your loot.
@orbit1894 Of course, of course, the game will become "Just thieves" sooner or later if they keep trying to please people without attention span. I've always thought the game was about the journey, and now it's slowly getting taken away. Unless they implement it really well, then I will eat my words.
It would suck if it was like ppl are thinking it will, you won't be able to go wherever you want just to the voyage objective event etc, there is a CD and devs said you can't go where other players are so no ambush and whoever reaches the event first will be the only ones there others will still have to approach normally if ppl could just dive anywhere it would literally make this unplayable, how tf would you ever take your loot to any outpost, even if you won a pvp they would just respawn and dive to you again You can't dive to attack you can't dive to escape you can't continually dive to events you can't dive to places with other ships you can't use it to quick sell... It's just a quick skip to your destination when you first start I see no problem in that
might as well have a dive to guild hideout since the game is now about diving off a server as often as possible instead of staying in one long session playing with alliances
This diving/teleportation system feels a little bit like cheating. It takes away the feeling of traveling on the map, and encountering risks while doing so, etc. etc. The fact, that if you dive with your ship, all loot will be lost, is great, but I don’t think that will be enough. Other than this, I think this update is going to be quite good.
I mean, if a ship dives on you then they didn't have loot to begin with or they just abandoned it. I reckon the dive will work like they do in HG you can't dive if a ship is in visible and close distant
It really isn't. All it does is offer a quick way to kickstart your session. Unless you're doing really basic voyages and cashing everything in each time, it really doesn't change that much.

@@DualityofLife I mean you loose all the loot if you do that, so how is it any different from just scuttling to tp to a different island, which was already here for years?
Here's a genuine question I have for the players of the game: Are there actually people excited about these lousy company skins? Like, seriously, who thought 'WOW, THIS SKIN IS AMAZING, I WANT IT' when they saw them? For me, they're completely uninteresting. One of the only skins that was done really well is the skeleton and ghost hourglass one, as it required a long grind. It was practically Pirate Legend v2, unlocking new areas and a somewhat private zone accessible only to those who played a lot... I'm not sure, but the game seems too easy now with gold piling up too easily. The sheer number of existing skins in the game makes them feel less collectible, in my opinion. Sea of Thieves, inspire us! Create challenges where we unlock new areas based on our level, like when we reach level 100 Servant of the Flame / Guardian Athena. Imagine a secret zone on an island, some kind of ritual, something exciting. Even make it so we can use gold for practical upgrades, like making our boat 10% faster to raise the anchor but 10% slower at sea. Gold feels like a worthless and pointless currency right now. Normally, I'd be fine, but it's literally been a year with no new content, events, not to mention new areas or islands on the map... In short, I feel that the upcoming updates should focus on these aspects. Now, I'm managing fine with the game as it is, but for how long? Do you really see the future of the game as just adding skins as rewards? It seems like a limited approach. Sure, for the moment it's okay, but I can't help wondering how long this will be satisfying. Are there any plans for more substantial content or gameplay changes? Just adding skins might not be enough to keep the game engaging in the long term.
you have very fair points. To answer your question, yes. I main Merchant Alliance, ive always pursued completing that guild 100% so anything content related I want and im excited to get. The money does feel a bit pointless, but theres really no good answer. If you do what you suggested you will have balance issues. If you make things like getting a boat after being sunk cost to much, you punish casual players. All they can do is make clothing and sets more expensive to make them distinguishable.

I wanted an update that brought a way to remove treasures from the island faster. For example, players with higher levels can buy a wheelbarrow to move around and sell faster, be able to carry smaller treasures in each hand (you can't do anything if you're holding one chalice, why not carry two).
Yes, but you need a chest to do that, which you aren't always able to get your hands on. One thing that would be really nice is the ability to sprint with small loot. Why am I not able to sprint with a chalice, or a skull, they can fit inside my palm!
dude it's called a backpack. You can just add backpacks to the game. this is not some kind of nanotechnology that could not exist in the past or that will break the balance of the game
Since you have to still sail back to an outpost to sell, the risk is still there as well. You'll just waste less time if you sink, which is healthy for the game as a whole.
@cptgrimm My initial thoughts exactly... for PVP it makes sense to have hourglass dives, but for voyages... the whole experience is the open horizon with chance encounters.
maybe it could help with encounters, when you spawn on an outpost, you tend to check the horizon. with this update when the horizon is empty, just warp to another area!
It shortens the time it takes to do voyages, AND it means that those who are feeling extra piratey, will come across more players who are normal sailing because they have loot. Less chances of chasing someone down, sinking them, and they had nothing. (really if you see that they have nothing, idk why you would sink them unless they either started the fight, or are toxic or something.)

the "teleport" option to world events seems too much. For tall tails and "private" missions are okay. But not for world events. If im doing a Fort Im always looking in the horizon for other ships. Now they will just spawn. And I guess you wont have much time to react. We´ll see how it works when It comes out but it does sound a bit of a no no. The rest sounds really good btw.
You will dive into uncontested world event, and after that other ppl can't dive into it, only ppl from that server can contest it by sailing their ship to it, Mike said it himself on twitter.
Insider player here i can say this because they have revealed it now (huge relief) you will only dive to a fort that has no one there. (Fof and fotd is not ones you can dive to.) And yes this was heavily tested.
I’m not sure what to think about the diving. Part of the game is sailing around with your friends and having emergent encounters and stuff. You lose a lot by teleporting.
Since you can't keep the loot when diving, diving will only gives a quick start by gold hoarders and order of souls (merchants are all about deliveries and tracking, diving is a no go) the rest of the voyage is ALL sailing.
Luckily, you can only dive to the starting location of a voyage and an uncontested world event. This means it’s essentially server hopping on steroids. And since you lose your loot if you dive, the sailing aspect is still here. I think people will feel better about this update once it launches, as the new loot and prestige system allows veteran players to continue progressing.
EDIT: If a crew is already at a world event, another crew cannot dive to it. Thanks for pugernoufer in the replies for letting me know. I feel like that should've been mentioned in the video lol. Nice changes, but one thing that concerns me though... what if you're doing an active world event and another crew surfaces at it with no warning? Before the diving, you could see crews coming in from the distance and be able to prepare. I feel like the diving should place you not too close, but far enough from the island so crews who are already there have time to react. And maybe there can be an audio or visual cue when another crew surfaces at a world event you're currently at.
This should DEFINITELY be part of an explanation video as it was for me a breaking point with the game. As a solo player from day 1, the only thing that gives me a chance against larger crews is the time it takes them to get to the event. Well that being said, they can always put other events on the table just to get closer instantaneously I suppose ? If so that’s also bad. It needs to be a proper topic Rare.
Honestly I feel like the problem is that Rare is spread too thin, they’re trying to solve technical problems and bugs while also trying to give new content for the seasons and new adventures and new tall tales so they seem to be trying too hard to be everything at once so instead of having something really good for an update we’re getting a bunch if tiny little things that don’t make much of a difference in the grand scheme of the game. I hate to see people really upset that Rare isn’t adding that much good content since it feels like Rare releases something that is good but isn’t favored by the whole community and then when the hype for it has passed everyone is all like “now add new content again” but also I can’t really blame them for being upset, honestly they should probably take a look at places that could use more content and add just that for a season, I think it would be nice to have a number of seasons dedicated to each faction that adds new voyages, loot, and content to said faction, that or they could take a look at some of the first seasons they did and try doing stuff like that but if they haven’t already then they’ll get to a point where they’ll run out of new places to explore, and Sea of Thieves has gotten to a point where no matter what some part of the community isn’t going to be happy with the content coming in a future season. And even though the community isn’t really excited for the content coming this season, it’s clear that Rare still cares about the game and their community and they likely have something cooking, after all, you have to admit that season 10 was really big so it only makes sense that we have a smaller season. Of course I also want a lot more content in each season than what we’re getting but I have faith that it’ll get better.
Stop bullying my favourite game ever!!! Maybe not every shot registers, maybe we cant doublegun now, maybe you get an error with missing or corrupted files but this game is only 8 years old, give it some time, developers trying their best. Dont tell me you didnt like the update when they removed Chest of Fortune from Fort of Fortune.... Im still paying 70$ for it and downloading 120GB.
They keep doing nothing but add more menus. No actual content, no new enemies, treasures, npc's, tools, items, nothing. Not even basic new clothes. This game is over. They've been doing this pathetic menu updating for the last two years. Literally NOTHING new is added.
Idk what to think about it. All of these changes seem somewhat good, but the fast travel for example seems at first glance problematic. Like imagine doing a fort, you dont look for like a minute and suddenly theres a gally couple meters away. Hope that they thought it out well...
I don’t think active forts are included in the fast travel. More than likely (if they’re smart) you will only be able to travel to forts that haven’t been triggered (and thus the treasure hasn’t loaded in)
@@PonderingsOfPete still people could look where the fort roughly is and fast travel to a nearby island.. its good for people with little time but it still concerns me

The ship teleports has a 100% of killing a large number of the player base off. You could be asking yourself, there's no way this guy is just being overdramatic but RARE is just taking out another bit of the world feeling alive. I would say the fun part of this game is traveling meeting other players, seeing how active the world the is. I am really glad with the fast travel addition. The diving isn’t as bad as I expected tbh. Having to sail to sell between each voyage means it can’t be used for running. Plus it should mean more ships with loot on the seas for plundering.
Exactly it's meant mostly to get the voyage/Tall Tale started like skipping sailing to the right location because the game spawned you across the map from where you need to be to begin the journey, not a means to skip the adventure entirely.
Hello Rare, I am thinking i speak for all hourglass players, that this update is a disappointment. There is a lot for the players that enjoy tall tales and voyages. But what about the dedicaded pvpers? We had a long wish-list this season. - Arena - hourglass with a timer - hourglass without 3rd party - more pvp mechanics, weapons or utilities on ships But we do not need that. What we need is a strong anti cheat. I am reporting cheaters daily and that is frustrating. Just like this update. At least we can buy more stuff in the emporium and have more loot in tall tales, which we'll never start anyways. In hopes that the diving mechanic isn't destroying open world PVP sincerely yours - the PVP community.

We have seen downsides of updates before, but I think this one went too far, just diving anywhere you want? Really? It removes the whole point of having a ship, not talking about the huge unbalancing for the people that are doing world events and get studently attacked by a ship out of nowhere. I am more of a PVP person and I think this is terrible for emissary ships as I could just pick up a quest that points to an island next to them (if not the one they are at), then just dive into them.
Really not a fan of the fast travel, part of the joy of playing is sailing the seas. Also i think this is going to take away the player on player combat as i can see a lot of people just diving and leaving whatever behind. This is not going to end well. At this point you may aswell just make the safer seas 100% progression, as High Seas is just gona have less and less player interaction When are you going to add more sea stuff like maybe another random creature encounter etc. The sea is pretty lacking. Still no actual anchor animation, just a magical invisible force that stops a ship
I like sailing the seas too, but let's be real, if you spawn in to an empty server with an unfavorable world event or a spawn that's 10 minutes away from anything, you're probably scuttle hopping out or restarting the game. Now, you can go start your voyage faster, get your rewards, and try to get it back before someone kills you and takes your loot. People said there would be less interaction in season 9 when they rebalanced world events to be easier to complete, but it increased interaction a metric ton.
They said in the video players will unlock the option to dive for world events, so I don't think It will be available for brand-new players. They will have to learn some basics before start using the feature.

Enough games have teleporting mechanics this just feel like a multiplayer fast travel ship simulator. Just call it sea simulator now. It truly has nothing to do with pirates anymore
I have mixed feelings too. But of course, if you're doing a voyage with a string of quests, it will only dive you to the first I imagine, and you have to get back to an outpost the old fashioned way to sell anyways. With the new focus on emergent loot having increased value as well, there will be plenty of incentive to offshoot from your voyage, or go straight to an emergent encounter from the start of the session anyways. There is a certain charm lost with the diving for certain, but I have to remind myself that this is a game of fantasy pirates in an entirely magic realm. I'm always down to suspend a little disbelief.

You know, this new diving mechanic isn’t really doing it for me. Part of the fun was sailing where you have to go, and hoping you won’t get attacked on the way. Now, you just fast travel. The only period you can get attacked in is when you are on the island, often a very short time, and when you are sailing to an outpost, which are all over the place. You can also just go and attack people, and if you are failing, just fast travel away. If you are attacking someone, they can just fast travel away, only leaving you their loot, but not their embassy flag or supplies. I don’t know, maybe just leave this feature for safer seas. Also, as I forgot to add but then was reminded by another comment 😆, world events aren’t just randomly generated now, you can just do them on demand. Chest of Fortunes now loose their value, and you can just teleport to them, and away if anything goes wrong. I don’t know, I might not play this update.
if you fast dive you lose your loot i think its a decent impact. but i mean im more so concerned about ambushes because if you sink an enemy cant they just return immediately? its odd. also it kinda takes away the significance and meaning of starting somewhere random, but theres adaptations, and still consequences where they need them- another thing, world events becoming less unique is genuinely very upsetting to be honest.

Now, i'm not saying pvp is wrong, the threat of pvp is what makes getting loot exciting for sure BUT over emphasis on it is what drives people away. Not every person who plays video games has 8+ hours a day to sit on a single game to practice day after day till they're one of the best players the game has to offer. People have families, jobs, school, etc. and can only spend 2 or so hours a day on a game and when you mix the former and the latter together it becomes unhealthy for the game
@@simpletora7313really disagree that they are emphasising pvp in recent updates anyway. Safer seas just came out, and much of this update is dedicated to improving the experience for pve players wanting to do standard voyages.
I've got mixed feelings about the diving teleportation. On the surface it seems like it's cutting out one of the main draws of the game: the exploration. But It seems to only incentivize diving when your ship is completely empty since you lose all loot and crates. What I think this means for gameplay is that the only ships on the High Seas that are getting attacked are ones that are returning from a voyage/world event/other-loot-gathering-adventure. So the exploration aspect is still there, but only when you're returning from one of the mentioned adventures. Alternatively players could just do the exploration part on their own without diving at the start I guess, but it's clearly pretty heavily incentivized to do so at the start of your adventure. Think I'll do a little pros/cons thing Pros: -Reapers (primarily. of course any pirate can attack another pirate for any reason) now have a much higher chance of actually finding loot on ships they encounter -Players who are on a time limit now have a real shot at turning in loot within their limits -Long-time players who've seen every corner of the sea a million times already now don't have to waste time gathering gold (waste being a subjective thing here, this ones mostly for gold grinders) Cons: -Newer players who haven't already become familiar with the sea are now incentivized to cut half of their total exploration off -Players who've spent plenty of time in a session already (enough to rank up their emissary flag) now have almost-instant access to world events, which means that newer players (especially those who haven't tried any PvP yet) are going to get obliterated by seasoned players who've had time to warm up in that session ~technically this was already true, and in the update if the seasoned ship actually loses the fight they'll lose their ability to dive to the world event, but that scenario isn't going to be common enough. what I'm thinking is that a Grade 5 emissary will TP in, wreck whatever people manually sailed there, and then have basically free reign to finish the event while everyone they beat has to manually sail back ~this is much more mild of a Con if the TPing ship isnt placed directly next to the World Event, and is instead placed somewhere on the horizon. maybe an island or two away I think overall it's a good change for the game, as it's a massive boon to time-limited players, and it'll make High Seas PvP more lucrative across the board. I'm also pretty happy with the rest of the update, and I really dig the new voyage system and menu!
have you ever experienced exploration that was more profitable than the unlocked pirate Legend Quest you were on. how often do you experience a chest of Rage just standing on the beach side where you sailing by not unlocked from an event or questline. exploration is only really for new players. it doesn't take long to learn every location. and that's when you find out that any loot of real value is only given through quests or events
yea and I highly doubt ill ever be able to interact with another crew with all this teleporting around and switching servers welp there goes my favorite part of the game
The questtable is amazing! I've been playing since the beta on and off with different crews and it was always a pain to explain and learn new players where they can find the voyages and what's possible. Well done rare!
I know! So many people are getting mad about it saying how people will just use it to run. But it basically just ensures that every ship you encounter will have loot on it. Making pvp almost guaranteed to be worth it.
@@rendycoya that would suck though if people still used it to run even if they lose their loot. I mean it’s a pirate game your signing up for pvp by playing.
Guys, whoever thought that the fast travel system should be in Sea of Thieves does not enjoy playing the game, just saying. This feature does not suit the game at all, please don't add it and let us just manually go to each islands. This feature removes the feeling of being a "captain" of the ship. Now you will just fast forward and your navigating skills will be ignored. And don't tell me "oh but you can still go there manually" No, no one will do that if there is a fast travel, so, please reconsider. Thanks.
@Grev.. for 0 sekunder siden You only dive as at the start of your voyage to get to the first island or event fast, watch the video. Only way to dive constantly is to sell constantly which some already do and no point in hunting them. This only makes the start of the game faster

Pace22 had complained when going toward a ship at an outpost and them vanishing due to diving for pvp. Imagine the time pvpers are going to waste sailing towards ships on servers never knowing if its a fresh spawn or if that player intends to dive out. This is going to have a lot more people diving off servers. Then we still have the forced server merge system. How intensive is all this merging on the servers? constantly having to load people in and out can be good for a game that already struggles to run
they have to be kidding about diving to world events....ill be working on a FOF and without being able to see approaching ships have a ship spawn on me???? additionally if it won't spawn you on a FOF already in progress then these wait time for world events are going to be huge....
No they gave u the OPTION to skip sailing. U can still sail to any location and you r forced to sail in order to sell loot. If anything it show those who want to hunt for peoples loot, which ship has it and who don’t. Also if they r going to dive in order to avoid pvp and leave their loot behind they r probably the same people who will sail around the map for 30 minute to an hr trying to escape

Finally, after years and years we get jewelry. We'll get rings, it's a first step. Then I hope they add earrings, bracelets and necklaces. I mean, one of the main themes in this game is "create your own pirate" with a lot of cosmetics, but we never got jewelry
My first love was Sid Meier's Pirates! back in 1987. All the way back in the day when gaming wasn't considered even remotely cool. And as an original Legendary and Triumphant Sea Dog with over 4k hours on these seas. I can honestly say Sea of Thieves gave me some of the greatest gaming moments and memories I've had in over 35 years. Sadly, what used to truly be a gamer's game and the best I've ever been blessed enough to enjoy. Has now turned into the opposite. I understand that it's the nature of the beast when it comes to monetization and attracting casual players who want rewards without the risk. That doesn't change the fact that I mourn the loss of what this game used to be and instead have begun to loathe what it has become. That's ok though, things change, it's life. And often we have little to no control over it. But I do miss you SoT and the best part of me always will. GG
You know what made the first Jaws film a blockbuster success? You felt like you were on the journey hunting a shark with them… I don’t know how this is going to feel, but it reminds me of all the films today and why they don’t hold up, instant gratification.
I think what a lot of people are failing to realize reading these comments is: This update is tailored for new players, the biggest gripe new players have is getting absolutely pub stomped by the everyday pirates that only play this game. Then they uninstall. In 11 seasons they haven’t added anything pay to win, yes they went “corporate” but in comparison to most games that do this, SoT has barely done anything to fully go “Corporate Sellout” I understand this update is disappointing people, but if you really are that upset because this is the only game you play, maybe take a break or something and go touch some grass 😅
A quality of life update I would love to "sea" is an item unlock description for achievements. As a collector, going from vendor to menu (finding the achievement) then back to vendor to keep track of which achievements unlock which cosmetic is a pain. If I could look at achievements and see what items it unlocks, that would be huge. Or vice versa, where viewing the item shows which achievement I need AND what that achievement requires.

I love every change shown right here and how you balanced them out, at first I thought that stacking vaults would become easier than ever now, but if you drop all of your loot if you dive, that balances it out perfectly
The instant teleport to world events I don’t get. But the rest in ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! If you only have a small amount of time you can get straight to business, while still having the option for the longer journey part. You finally got one right rare!

From what we see in the trailer it looks like world events and single destination Voyages will be optimized and take out all the charm of sailing BUT multi island Voyages will still have that charm of sailing but who would do long sailing sessions when you can just do optimal grinding by diving to a world event, selling and repeating.

not crazy about the dive feature at all. one of my favourite things in the game is seeing ships on the horizon and wondering where they are going knowing that everyone is in a journey. honestly feels like that kind of teleportation should be for Safer Seas only.

@cptgrimm Let them run away. They have no treasure, anyways, so why even bother?
but at that point you get what they have anboard, so it dosent matter @cptgrimm
@cptgrimmdoes the teleportation system work similar to HG in which you can’t dive if there is a rival ship near by?
I dont like how it cuts out the journey, the adventure, the encounters with other players or PvE encounters.
no one is forcing you to use it. Just makes it so people who have less time to play can access all the game has to offer.
It is balanced out though to where if you do it you probably lose all your loot
@@zeeboss7553While that is true, the human brain has a tendency to, quoting Game Maker’s Toolkit, “optimize the fun out of a game”. We like being productive, so it’s hard to not use a system that saves a ton of time like that, at the cost of immersion.
And if you choose not to, the mere fact that it exists will nag at you “hey, you could have already been there and saved a ton of time.”
bro can't understand that some people don't want to play sea of thieves for 14 hours a day
From what I can tell, it only cuts out the journey at the point you don't have any loot.
I get it, maybe this is generating the revenue you need, but ultimately it is creating a shortsighted fan base that is getting smaller and smaller.
boo
You can choose not to dive
I feel like losing treasure will balance the game just fine. I understand your concern, but I think this could be a huge W for the community as a whole. Sometimes it really sucks to start a quest that is half a map away because of RNG, and now I get just start at that island, and sail from there. I think it is really smart, but maybe im off here

I also think it will just be regular ambushes from crews that have nothing to lose while you are trying to leave with your loot.
ecactly only nice thing to have for the teleportaion is the tall tales. If they just caped it at that i think it was just fine

I've always thought the game was about the journey, and now it's slowly getting taken away. Unless they implement it really well, then I will eat my words.
It would suck if it was like ppl are thinking it will, you won't be able to go wherever you want just to the voyage objective event etc, there is a CD and devs said you can't go where other players are so no ambush and whoever reaches the event first will be the only ones there others will still have to approach normally if ppl could just dive anywhere it would literally make this unplayable, how tf would you ever take your loot to any outpost, even if you won a pvp they would just respawn and dive to you again
You can't dive to attack you can't dive to escape you can't continually dive to events you can't dive to places with other ships you can't use it to quick sell...

You both could be right, we will see
I think it will take players straight to the risk. Like the pvpve event in season 2.
You still can choose. And what's better for you to sink, an empty ship on its way to start a quest, or a full one on its way to an outpost to sell?

I fully cosplay as a company member when I do a company specific session!
Just fyi the next update is going to be mainly content focused. The developers said this is the last update focusing on mechanics
you need to go play somethings else, lemme guess, 10,000 hours and leaving a bad review?
you have very fair points.

@cptgrimm My initial thoughts exactly... for PVP it makes sense to have hourglass dives, but for voyages... the whole experience is the open horizon with chance encounters.
maybe it could help with encounters, when you spawn on an outpost, you tend to check the horizon. with this update when the horizon is empty, just warp to another area!

the "teleport" option to world events seems too much.
@renegademaster1773 that seems fair... that is if rare keeps it that way

@@SolarDolphin You just breached your NDA, then.
I’m not sure what to think about the diving. Part of the game is sailing around with your friends and having emergent encounters and stuff. You lose a lot by teleporting.
And you still can go to voyages without diving
@@ZombishTurkey Yeah but other people can and that's the problem
it's only the first trip. after that, if you dont wanna lose your loot, you won't dive anymore. so yeah, i think it's balanced.
Since you can't keep the loot when diving, diving will only gives a quick start by gold hoarders and order of souls (merchants are all about deliveries and tracking, diving is a no go) the rest of the voyage is ALL sailing.
It’s just to get you started faster. Once you start and add something on board, no more diving.
The fast travel update? What were you guys thinking?!?!
If you're at a world event, no other ships can dive to that same event. You'll only have to worry about ships organically on the server.
Idk, but I think the game checks for events with no crews nearby before surfacing you, otherwise you’ll just have hourglass 2.0.
The visual cue is when there is a ship appearing from the water then that means someone is attacking
As an Insider, I can say that Rare has thought of this and it is not an issue.

Hello Rare,
I am thinking i speak for all hourglass players, that this update is a disappointment. There is a lot for the players that enjoy tall tales and voyages. But what about the dedicaded pvpers?
We had a long wish-list this season.
- Arena
- hourglass with a timer
- hourglass without 3rd party
- more pvp mechanics, weapons or utilities on ships
But we do not need that. What we need is a strong anti cheat.
I am reporting cheaters daily and that is frustrating. Just like this update.
At least we can buy more stuff in the emporium and have more loot in tall tales, which we'll never start anyways.
In hopes that the diving mechanic isn't destroying open world PVP

At this point you may aswell just make the safer seas 100% progression, as High Seas is just gona have less and less player interaction
When are you going to add more sea stuff like maybe another random creature encounter etc. The sea is pretty lacking. Still no actual anchor animation, just a magical invisible force that stops a ship
You can’t dive with a ship near
Just like with hourglass
I like sailing the seas too, but let's be real, if you spawn in to an empty server with an unfavorable world event or a spawn that's 10 minutes away from anything, you're probably scuttle hopping out or restarting the game. Now, you can go start your voyage faster, get your rewards, and try to get it back before someone kills you and takes your loot. People said there would be less interaction in season 9 when they rebalanced world events to be easier to complete, but it increased interaction a metric ton.
@@Sinix946 oh really? I must've missed that part

This game truly has gone down hill. Enough games have teleporting mechanics this just feel like a multiplayer fast travel ship simulator. Just call it sea simulator now.

true plus real
I have mixed feelings too. But of course, if you're doing a voyage with a string of quests, it will only dive you to the first I imagine, and you have to get back to an outpost the old fashioned way to sell anyways.
With the new focus on emergent loot having increased value as well, there will be plenty of incentive to offshoot from your voyage, or go straight to an emergent encounter from the start of the session anyways.
There is a certain charm lost with the diving for certain, but I have to remind myself that this is a game of fantasy pirates in an entirely magic realm. I'm always down to suspend a little disbelief.
I mean you loose loot if you dive so their is a lot of chasing and the teleporting is only so you don’t have to sail for like 15 minutes.
It's still has pirates, if you are complaining about people being able to set sail for shorter amounts of time because they have a life you're the problem
the only difference is that now you dont have to waste 20 minutes to start your first voyage. you still have to sail to outposts etc.

People who live PvP are ultimately the long term playerbase of this game.
@@gilbertboot572 Yes, and it's a very small percentage of said playerbase which is why the numbers go DOWN and the seas are empty when the casual players leave due to the pvp fanatics. Think I'll do a little pros/cons thing
Pros:
-Reapers (primarily. of course any pirate can attack another pirate for any reason) now have a much higher chance of actually finding loot on ships they encounter
-Players who are on a time limit now have a real shot at turning in loot within their limits
-Long-time players who've seen every corner of the sea a million times already now don't have to waste time gathering gold (waste being a subjective thing here, this ones mostly for gold grinders)
Cons:
-Newer players who haven't already become familiar with the sea are now incentivized to cut half of their total exploration off
-Players who've spent plenty of time in a session already (enough to rank up their emissary flag) now have almost-instant access to world events, which means that newer players (especially those who haven't tried any PvP yet) are going to get obliterated by seasoned players who've had time to warm up in that session
~technically this was already true, and in the update if the seasoned ship actually loses the fight they'll lose their ability to dive to the world event, but that scenario isn't going to be common enough. what I'm thinking is that a Grade 5 emissary will TP in, wreck whatever people manually sailed there, and then have basically free reign to finish the event while everyone they beat has to manually sail back
~this is much more mild of a Con if the TPing ship isnt placed directly next to the World Event, and is instead placed somewhere on the horizon. maybe an island or two away
I think overall it's a good change for the game, as it's a massive boon to time-limited players, and it'll make High Seas PvP more lucrative across the board.

@@darknightmc5637 I've been playing since day1. I burned out on the grind.😆 They lost the story and added the grind.
So season 10 on steroids. Thanks rare Im gonna use the fast travel 200 times to have fun. Who needs new things to do when u can travel faster.
gg it was a great adventure but this game
Also remember that they said that this is the last “mechanics” season and next season onwards is gonna be actually new content
If the game even still has players by then 😢
Hopefully all of the toxic commenters have left by then
@@samboi123 fr, ppl only complain
I hope season 12 will finally add new sea monsters
@@monksterystill has a large playerbase💀
Great, now I have to worry about player ships just popping out of nowhere while I’m on a quest. Like I wasn’t paranoid enough in the game as is
Pace22 had complained when going toward a ship at an outpost and them vanishing due to diving for pvp.
So now our ships are going to be diving underwater all the time? How... immersive.
litterally wtf is this im not a skelly ship 😭
So they’ve removed the Sailing from a pirate game. Brilliant
Did you see the part where you lose all of your loot when you fast travel?
Mhm yup
No they gave u the OPTION to skip sailing. U can still sail to any location and you r forced to sail in order to sell loot. If anything it show those who want to hunt for peoples loot, which ship has it and who don’t. Also if they r going to dive in order to avoid pvp and leave their loot behind they r probably the same people who will sail around the map for 30 minute to an hr trying to escape
@@darklordjackal1742 yeah but the naval chase is part of the fun
@@ExiledZug At times sure but with 800+ hours into the game i've gotten so bored with chasing runners that I just let them go and wait for them to come back to me for their loot. Hell I've tried to see what being runner is like and I got bored at just staring at the chasing ship behind me that I just turn around and fight.
You added fast travel? Terrible design decision.
I think what a lot of people are failing to realize reading these comments is:
This update is tailored for new players, the biggest gripe new players have is getting absolutely pub stomped by the everyday pirates that only play this game.
Or vice versa, where viewing the item shows which achievement I need AND what that achievement requires.
rare hates pvp lol
Well no one played arena, no one play hourglass now. From a business perspective, it doesn't make sense anymore. 🫠
Which is crazy because pvp brought more eyes on this game than pve ever did.
No they don’t lmao, remember Season 8? And this will increase the number of fights, more active people on world events makes other crews easier to find!
@@Mr.LegoGrievous season 8 was more than a year ago and we still havent got a single cosmetic for hourglass or any QOL or more importantly anti-cheat or a better report system.
@@matty956 True, but season 9 was also meant to encourage PvP. Season 10 had Skull of Siren song. And yes they need to address these issues, but saying they hate PvP isn’t true.
People complain that sailing takes forever, they make it faster, and then people complain that they miss the old days.
THANK YOU. Bro everyone is so mad I don’t get it I don’t think rare can ever make em happy. Sure rare was nothing but a disappointment in 2023 but this is actually a good addition
Fast travel ? Wow that's bad... Sailing to destination is part of the charm of this game.
Can't wait to see all the new loot! Also messages in bottles and the loke really needed this rework so super hyped about that. The menus also look great! The fast travel system I'm not so sure about but since i am a stacker i will really only fast travel once when i start playing. Then I'll just sail to keep my loot.
Yeah I’m really glad about tp as if you need to do one thing you can do it easily now
I love that you don't have to visit the representatives to buy voyages anymore, but I'm not a fan of the fast travel mechanic...
I just want to see the world alive with boats everywhere. This feels like a more solo ship experience. Its just going to feel more empty if everyone is constantly server hopping by diving. Im bye no means a Rper but I enjoy talking to people out on sea and if they fight then we fight.
Diving will be in the same server, so less waiting and no server hopping
dont ever shorten reaper like that again lmao
... Idk about this diving ... it kind of cuts out a huge chunk of what makes SeaOfThieves great, you know ...
the Sailing?
At least the new menus look neat ...
Yeah one of the reasons I like sot is because a lot of it is sailing…. I don’t see a point of skipping that part out. I really don’t.
the fast travel is really really weird to me... it destroys the whole vibe about sailing a giant sea.
No it doesn’t. They implemented it perfectly.
I agree I don’t get why so many people are pissed about the update. I actually like the world event thing except if a crew has been working on it. It’s not fair for you to just be able to pop up on them they should have the advantage of seeing you coming
@@captaingomez849 I come from SOT France, they've been replying, actually you can't TP if someone is already near the event
@@Spatial8 thanks bro that’s great! Now it’s all good I can my wait for the update
