      What’s interesting is that people miss the point of family coasters. Introducing children to taller, wilder thrills is challenging with the likes of Space Mountain (too dark), and Big Thunder (too noisy)... the ride was brought in to ease the transition, and it’s ironically spawned more people complaining about it than any other ride at Magic Kingdom. Even more curiously enough, is that despite all the “coaster purists” crapping on it, it still proves to be one of the highest-capacity, popular coasters in the US, that is capable of handling children 38” or taller (key point there though).

      I am definitely a fan of swinging designs for that reason. They're so smooth. Larger versions (like The Bat at Kings Island) do develop a bit of a rumble but it's not like the jack-hammering or bumpiness other coasters tend to develop.

    • @aninterestingpenguin9374
      @aninterestingpenguin9374 4 года назад +2

      Honestly it seems like the swinging was underutilized on this ride. Arrow Suspended coasters take advantage of the swinging to add to the excitement of the ride, this ride just seems to do it for theming.
      The S&S Axis coaster seems to use a similar style of train as this ride and really takes advantage of what swinging the car around can do, although the ride experience seems way too intense for a Disney park.

      Rode it about a year ago. I'm absolutely terrified of drops but thought I'd give it a go since I promised my mom I'd ride with her after visiting Disney without her beforehand. I kept my eyes shut for the majority of the ride because I was just so afraid and ended up opening them just before the "drop" to which I then screamed before it even happened, and ended up in a laughing fit because it wasn't at all the drop I expected. I'm back a year later and, yet again, terrified despite totally enjoying the speed last year.

    For any reasonable person, this ride is NOT worth the wait. If you can catch this for 45 min wait or less it's at least bearable. Some comments talk about waiting in line for 4 hours. I'm telling you that is robbery, nothing less. The folks who also say there are things to do while in line... There are 3, trough of glowing gems, wet sifting gems, spinning buckets of gems. The ride is short but we'll decorated. This was not an impressive ride and the fact they sell "pay per ride" is again, robbery. I waited in line for 20 mins and the whole family was not interested in waiting that time again.

      Can you convince Disney to build a six flags type ride with Disney theme? Most Disney rides are too tame and get boring after so many re-rides. It’s more like watching a good movie but you don’t need to watch a good movie 10 times a month.
      I feel Disney makes rides only for families and Karen’s. I think Karen’s will be offended if there is multiple loops on any roller coaster.

    I rode this earlier today, and it was a lot more fun than I expected based on having previously seen this video.
    Reading some of the criticisms here are lame, as I think that they miss the point that Disney is more of a family oriented park, and isn’t known for more extreme thrill rides. I’m one who prefers crazier rides (just this year alone, I’ve been able to ride Kingda Ka and El Torro; and, my favorite coaster is Steel Vengeance); but, I’m also able to appreciate less crazy rides that are still designed impeccably well.

      No need to question yourself! Roller coasters are not enjoyed by everyone. And that is OK 🙂. The main problem is that the experience is done TO you, and is continued even if it's too much. My answer is that most new roller coasters in future need to be rider controlled - you'd drive your vehicle as a group of four riders at most. You'd use layouts (circuits) that only take around 30 seconds to complete, would have only one challenging element (mostly) and that you could get off in between the big drops and inversions if it were too much. These layouts would be connected to each other in a network, to resolve the issue of boarding and alighting except when bailing out.

    I can't believe all the complaining I'm seeing about this ride. It is awesome! I've only ridden it at night, so maybe that's what I found so cool about it. At night time, they have spotlights that kinda blind you, so you don't really know which direction you're going next. Ride it after sundown and see if you still hate it.

    The problem isn’t that it’s a short, tame family coaster, the problem is that it’s a short, tame family coaster that was made out to be a headliner attraction in the vein of Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain. I realize people have opinions, but to me it’s as if Universal hyped Flight of the Hippogriff as a headliner. The show scene in the middle is nice, but overall it’s not worth waiting the 60+ minute line length it usually has.

    • @TitanTankNate
      @TitanTankNate 5 лет назад +9

      edvaira6891 Actually, they’re not even remotely related. Big Thunder Mountain is a proprietary design, this ride is Vekoma. Big Thunder is a thrill attraction while this is a family coaster of similar vein to Barnstormer. Big Thunder is themed to the American Southwest, while this is complete fantasy. The only similarity is the generic “mine” theme, which if you’re going to be THAT generic, you might as well blanket all mine rides together. This ride’s unique appeal is that it is a smooth-flowing children’s introductory coaster with a twist to appeal to the riding parents, something Barnstormer lacks. Big Thunder is an intermediate coaster with a taller height requirement and rougher reputation.
      And don’t bother arguing the facts: I was a coordinator and trainer in this area, and it’s second home to me. If you’re going to make uneducated comments please feel free to do so on your own content.

    • @LakeHowellDigitalVideo
      @LakeHowellDigitalVideo 5 лет назад

      @@TitanTankNate Vekoma also built Thunder Mountain at the Magic Kingdom, doofus. All of Magic Kingdom's coasters are considered junior coasters/family coasters. The only actual adult coasters at Disney's Florida resort are Rock N Roller Coaster (inversions) and Expedition Everest (80 foot drop). BTW, I don't give shit about your so called "coordinator and trainer" horseshit -- if you didn't know both coasters were built by the same company (Vekoma) then you clearly lost that job for incompetence. You are the only dumbass making uneducated comments, stupid.

And if you're watching on regular monitor (not a phone or table), get high, and go full screen, it's *almost* as good as actually riding it. Tho a *tiny* bit of preamble would be good to give the viewer some time to settle in. Like, turn the camera on just before you get on.

      Not bad at all. I'm absolutely terrified of coasters and drops, so I was mortified when I finally decided to give it a try, screamed right as we made it to what looks like a drop, and was pleasantly surprised. It's not a drop, just looks like it. It goes really fast and kind of puts you up on the wall, but it is totally drop-free. I rode it the first time 1 year ago, and I'm in line for it yet again. But I recommend it because it has 0 drops, just speed, and I can handle the queue without crying, unlike most rides.
