    My father in law put on an over run clutch and his son drilled a hole in it and put a bolt through it. Had no idea why the tractor was “pushing “ him. Tractor was identical to yours. His son then would try to bushhog with and complained about it being weak. He was running it at 1200 rpm. He lugged it around. He has a 65 hp Massey and runs it at 1200.

    I just bought a 63 ford 2000 but mine has the selectospeed transmission. The trans. is a little jerky but it does give you nice slow gears. I think 1st gear is about 1 1/2mph. and it has live pto.

    To get a hi and low shift you have to step up to a 4000.

    Jeffrey, I have a 1964 Ford 2000 tractor as well. I am having problems with my brush hog. The front of the brush hog drags on the ground. Is there something on the tractor that will lift the front.
    I would use the hydraulics but it bleeds and lowers while mowing.

    • @jeffreyticen689
      @jeffreyticen689  6 лет назад

      ruclips.net/video/IzuJvf6ocaI/видео.html This hydraulic system is the same on the NAA, 600 series and 2000 series and many others. Could be you have the same problem he had.
      Dan Gingell (Steiner Repair) has a video explaining how to search for internal hydraulic leaks on the 600/800 series, that works on the 2000 as well. You will have to investigate to find a weak spot.
      Also if your hydraulic pump on the block is loud, it may need a rebuild to provide the pressure you need for something heavy. Brush hogs are quite heavy for these tractors and older seals and O rings aren't up to it.
      There is a relief valve located under the hydraulic piston that will cause drifting when it wears out but if you are going to dig that deep you might as well do a complete rebuild. The cover plate is heavy to lift but the rebuild is not terribly difficult to do.
      Lastly I would suggest your hydraulic fluid. Contaminated or old fluid may cause the system to react poorly. If you know where the hydraulic drain plug is, slowly unscrew it until something leaks out. If it is water coming out first, you have dirty fluid. If the tractor sets outside for any length of time it will have water in it from condensation and rain. Mine stays in the barn but I change the fluid every couple of years to get out condensation. Buy hydraulic fluid recomended for the tractor too. You won't be happy with cheap fluid. Good luck, good mowing!

    I can’t find any videos of people attempting to run a 7ft mower on a jubilee or 8n just people jabbering about The 5 hp per shredder foot width, how does that 7 footer cut ? Could it run an 8 ? My 8.n is great with my 5 footer and always wondered about a 7 footer

    • @jeffreyticen689
      @jeffreyticen689  4 года назад

      My engine is around 35hp if it is running well. It handles the mower pretty well but 1 foot tall stuff will bog it down. So I raise the mower a couple inches off the ground the first pass then down on the second and it does fine. I'm not sure of an 8N's hp but if it is less than 35 I believe you should go with something smaller. Agri-supply sells a 6 footer I think.

    • @jeffreyticen689
      @jeffreyticen689  4 года назад

      Under your battery plate there is a connection for your throttle linkage. There is a friction plate in it. Perhaps it is worn. Thanks and good luck.

    I wonder if someone has changed the sheet metal on your 2000 or if maybe its not really a 2000. It shouldnt have the round plastic part on the front of the hood on a 2000. It should look like this one.
