- Steve Kanaly went from the Vietnam War jungle to Hollywood. His war tales inspired the Robert Duvall character in Apocalypse Now and it led to his first screen role alongside Paul Newman. Steve opens up about those stars he admires - John Huston, Charlton Heston, Goldie Hawn and Steven Speilberg - and the big name he says was a grouch. Steve takes us behind the scenes of Dallas, revealing how why he chose the role of Ray over that of JR and Bobby, plus he opens up about getting Priscilla Presley tipsy as the beginning of her days on the series. Plus find out the connection to Priscilla's granddaughter Riley Keough.

Steve Kanaly is such a gracious person by the tone of this brilliant interview. Had no idea he had such a varied and interesting career. Of course, as Ray Krebs on Dallas he was excellent - a fave character.
Steve that was a great John Houston!!!!!
Ray was my favorite on the show..what they should have done is give him a son or daughter that admired & wanted to be just like JR.Would have been fun to see how Ray handle that
Excellent interview, thanks Craig Bennett. What a great and fascinating man Steve Kanaly is! Loved him as Ray Krebs in Dallas.. but wow, what a rich life and thanks for your service, sir!
Steve Kanaly is a very good actor and added to everything he did--that I've seen. Interesting man.
and he still looks good
What a guy!! Great interview. Loved Ray Krebs on Dallas. 🙏🙏

Beautiful interview. Steve Kanaly shared intimate memories of his time in Vietnam. All in all, Steve is a gentleman and he is so respectful. Steve is a great actor and artist. Love this interview.
Steve Kanaly performance on Dallas was wonderful. Great interview!
Wonderful interview. Steve looks great!
What a great interview. I had no idea Steve Kanaly had wracked up so many credits. Dillinger was a brilliant movie based on the real life bank robber. Of course, he was excellent in Dallas.
What a terrific interview. No one does these quite like Craig Bennett - so well researched, classy and interesting. Mr Kanaly is pure class. What a gentleman. Had no idea of the scope of his career. The Life & Times of Judge Roy Bean is a classic. Ray Krebbs was such a Dallas mainstay. Loved hearing about the cast, especially stories of Jim Davis and Barbara Belle Geddes. Much appreciation for this brilliant interview.
Thank you for your service Steve
Great interview with Steve Kanaly. I liked his reminiscences of Vietnam and his time doing movies with the likes of Henry Fonda and Charlton Heston. He did a great John Huston impersonation as well. Please keep these great interviews coming Craig, you are a first rate at what you do.
Thank you for your comment Joe and happy you enjoyed our interview. Kelley

Steve Kanaly is such a sweet man. Met him at Ojai market, and he was super friendly. Love this interview 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great interview 100 per cent. Mr Kanaly was fascinating to listen to reflecting on a busy career. Wish he'd do the book, love to hear more of his stories.
We agree!
Sitting here in chilly upstate New York and loving this interview so much. Steve Kanaly was one of my favorites on Dallas. I remember Ray Krebbs used to chop wood in the most beautiful looking cowboy boots. What a terrific career, and kudos to Mr Kanaly for his Vietnam service. Mr Bennett provides yet another excellent interview. Thank you. Can't wait for the next one. Mr Bennett, you mentioned Linda Gray - any chance of an interview there please? 🙏
Yes, love to see an interview with Linda Gray. Sue Ellen was so good on Dallas.
Glad you enjoyed it Joanne and hope you are staying warm. We have been working on Linda and will continue to do so. Thank you again. Kelley
Craig, I always enjoy your interviews. I always look forward to the next one as soon as I am through watching your most current interview.
