- This is an interview I did with Steve Kanaly, who played Ray Krebbs on "Dallas." He's a very nice guy, who was visiting Tuscaloosa to promote the grand opening of Parisian's Department Store. The person who was supposed to do the interview had to leave at the last minute - something about a relative giving birth - so I had to step in, hence the t-shirt instead of a dress-shirt. This was a segment for "Uptown & Country," a weekly human interest series produced by The University of Alabama Center for Public Television and broadcast on Alabama Public Television. Charlotte Voss was the producer.
This is absolute gold to have Kanaly at Dallas's peak talking about the show, but also his career. I had no idea that he was so into film as a technology - the other side of the camera. It's great to hear him talk about the show so lovingly and in so much detail - he clearly admires the work behind it all. Fascinating man and a wonderful interview, thanks for uploading!
Was always a credit to the show. A great actor.
Dallas ran throughout my late teens and twenties. I had such a crush on 'Ray'!
I was so bummed when he was written off the show. With the absence of Ray and Jock, Dallas lost much of its western feel.
Believe it or not but Dallas was a great part of my T.V. viewing life. I thoroughly enjoyed all the characters and story lines. I still watch it today it today.
Thank you for posting this. His words about Jim Davis are especially touching.
Love Kanaly, and I love him as Ray. He does a pretty spot on impression of John Huston too. This was fascinating to watch, thanks for uploading.
Hes STILL my favorite on Dallas!!!!!💞💞💞💞
Thanks for your kind comments. He was certainly very gracious and polite at the time of the interview.
He made a great Pretty Boy Floyd
Great guy
Jim Davis was great. Steve Kanaly speaks highly of him. I would too.
Fantastic. Subbed.
Classic interview.
'I don't consider myself a hero - hero is a big word and I'm just like everybody else'
When he looks left he looks exactely like Mark Knopfler, so funny!!
Great interview, but publicity teams today would never tolerate this level of candor from an actor, not to mention his giving away plot lines before they’re even filmed and his all but answering cliffhangers before they got answered on air.
I know. I decided to ask him, not expecting him to tell me anything, but he did! Glad you liked the interview. If I could change anything about it, I would have dressed for the occasion, but I filled in at the last minute.
I like him.
Steve is a good guy.
He's a good 👍 guy. From brian...👋
Handsome
My favorite on dallas no donna
Victoria Prince-A-Paul?
I thought it was pronounced like Principle.
This was the only time I’ve heard it pronounced that way.
