Been loving all the awesome videos you've been putting out lately dude! While Lomic was definitely the best in the game, of the currently available options you showed I would try the AllParts pickguard. But I was impressed with how good the AliExpress guard looked on your mustang, once your pickups are white it'll be a deadringer for Roseland. Looking forward to seeing how this build turns out!
Thanks! I agree. I think I may grab that allparts guard too! I can use the pearl for another project. I'll try not to use screen shots often of your stuff. I just felt like those underneath bridge plate shots can really give someone direction on what to do. That budget stang was cool!
@@loungeact1212 Oh absolutely no worries! I appreciate you keeping my username in there, as long as my name isn't cropped out or I am being credited in some way I totally don't mind you using screenshots like that😊
So cool.. got a sonic grey bullet mustang that I want to transform to a somewhat Skystang look, I unfortunately purchased the wrong pickgaurd as was unsure the red pearl was too red and went tortoise shell, big mistake as very brown. Think will try for the red pearl now seeing yours. Plan to paint the body too Just finished my Strat Jr into Vandalism, it's so cool and compact. Strat's so much easier and more affordable to create and get that Cobain vibe. I have now a K Strat, 2 Vandalism and a vintage white Fujigen. You got great videos and content, thanks
@loungeact1212 yeah I wanted the body contour as you mentioned rather than the slab body, so been waiting a while to find one. The grey is really grey so needs painting.
He had been planning to retire for a while, Lomic started in 2001. The 1:1 skystang guards were his last hurrah before closing shop. Now he takes on the occasional tech job here and there but spends most of his time with his family!
Yeah I hear that I was looking for examples for this video, very tough to find. There's a MG 73 with white stripe on reverb for around 975 I think but it does have some decent fret wear. I think it's gotta be shipped from Japan too.
@@loungeact1212 Yea, but theres no problem shipping from Japan. I sort of gave up on my MG Roseland project and instead got an Ocean Turquoise MG73 comp matching headstock last year from Japan, 2012 -still in the factory box, pretty sweet. The japanese btw have lots of FSR stuff that never leaves Japan unless it is specially exported. Special colors, pickups etc. Anyways at this point I am almost resorting to doing a "warmoth body + any ebay mustang neck" build.
Great video! I’m sure it’ll be a great guitar once finished. The Squier CV mustangs would be perfect if they had the body contours, not sure why that hasn’t been an added feature. MG-69s have gotten quite pricey in the past few years, especially the 90s models or any of the rarer finishes they did. There was a kid on here that posted a video a few months back where he got a Q serial MG-69 (same as Kurts) and paid a ridiculous amount for it. Talking multiple thousands here, which may have been worth it except it seemed to have a really poorly done refinish and fake pickguard which is a huge shame. Pickford Guards definitely has the most accurate Cobain replica guards you can buy in my opinion. Lomic’s were nice and had good patterns but the top finish often had a ‘orange peel’ or unevenness to the surface whereas Pickfords are glassy smooth like the original 60s / 90s guards.
@@loungeact1212 Thanks! Yes they are pretty rare from what I have been told. It’s an MG69-85CO, most likely a 2006. From what i understand it’s more common to find MG-73’s in the OTM finish

Sick, love the roseland look. Awesome build buddy
Thanks dude! Not the best by any means but still fun to play with.
From my experience, not all Mustangs are the same, so make double sure that the pickguard is for the specific model.
Sweet! I have a Vintera II Competition Burgundy Mustang that I plan on eventually turning into a Teen Spirit Stang replica.
same, i'd really like to get the headstock painted to match the body
@@LexiconDevil Very nice I want one!
Amazing
the show at the Roseland was on the same night i was born
Very cool!

@jadenlittlerocker315 thanks for watching! Sounds like a great project with the bullet, I'm waiting on a surf green one to come up for sale locally.

What happened to Lomic Guitars?
He made a killing with the skystang 1:1 pick guards and retired. Now he's just the guitar tech for the RUclips channel Nirvana Guitars.

@@NirvanaGuitars It's a shame Lomic has come to an end but it's nice to know he's good and he and his family are all set
Been looking for ages for a fiesta red mg69, or mg73. Can't seem to find any. Where does one find one?

That ocean turquoise metallic model is a brilliant piece, seems very rare, I hope to find one some day. That's a special one for sure! Is it an mg73?
