    bowl and pitcher go together ; old fashion wash-up set

  • @charliehampel537
    @charliehampel537 3 года назад +2

    That old ice chest is just like the one we had when I was a child. The door that lifts up from the bottom is to slide the pan in to catch the water as the ice melts. I used to love when the ice man came. He always gave us a little chip of ice to suck on in the summer. The memories you guys give me when you open these lockers is amazing!

    The pitcher that you found and that bowl...they go together they are a set...it is called an old wash basin to wash up with...you have water in pitcher pour in bowl and wash up.

    The pitcher and bowl are likely a wash stand set that would set on top of a dry sink. You see them in old western shows where they pour the water from the pitcher into the bowl and they proceed to wash their face (and/or other body parts). You might uncover the wash stand it used to set on.

    The old Ice Box is in beautiful shape, probably worth around $1500.00. The bottom door is where the ice goes, and the "thing" in the back is a drain. As the ice melts it drains into a pan that slides underneath it the space where you thought the piece was falling off.

  • @davidcriswell8312
    @davidcriswell8312 3 года назад +1

    19:51, the icebox late 1800's. The right-side is for the blocks of ice 🧊 and the bottom flip-up bord is where a bowl or tub gose to catch the water from the block of ice. The cold air flows though the two storage area's. Very cool peice, (lol) probably worth 3-5k depending on how original it is.

    To many times we forget to say "Thank You" for the great videos. You are doing it just right for everyone to see what you have. Unlike others that just yank something out and toss it back into a box of junk not giving us a chance to really get a good look. You need to give lessons to some that haven't a clue how to present items. Keep up the good work and I'll keep on buying. Thanks to your whole family.

    The Ice Chest is pre1930 in excellent condition. a pan was placed under the bottom to catch the water as the ice melted. On the east coast one in that condition would go for $800 to $1200 could be more on the left coast!

    The piece you thought was a protractor set is a drafting set, with compasses, calipers, and all sorts of other goodies. It should have some very good value. Now that they've taken Aunt Jemima off the boxes, that should be worth a lot more. Shoulder pads = 80s. I think they single-handedly supported the TY company! This unit is absolutely incredible. I can't believe you're only halfway through it! Vacation is paid for this year...and you might actually be able to fly somewhere soon.
