  • Have you guys ever heard of or tried sugar waxing before?
    Note: Hair needs to be long enough for this to work well on. It won't work well on really short stubble. It may hurt more if the hair is really long but overall this is less painful and less irritating than traditional waxing or epilating. My leg is usually FULL of hair but what I demonstrated was about 5-7 days after the first time I sugared. Since I had never waxed my legs before my legs were red and spotty after the first time. Don't be alarmed if this happens to you. I personally didn't find this painful at all on my lower legs. As you can see there is no irritation at all this second time. Probably going to wait another week for more hair to grow out before I sugar again :) Yay to less shaving!!

    DIY Sugar Paste Recipe:
    2 cups sugar
    1/4 cup lime or lemon juice
    1/4 water
    dash of salt
    or cut in half if trying out for the first time:
    1 cup sugar
    1/8 cup lemon or lime juice
    1/8 cup water
    smaller dash of salt :)
    Good luck!! Be careful and have fun ^_^ xoxo~ Christine

    I've been using it for more than 25 years, the good thing about sugaring is that the hair becomes less by time and you enjoy soft skin for 20+ days and it's safe on all body parts. Now I have some tips for advocates : 1. after you soften the sweet piece, you can add a few drops of water to have it malleable, it should feel like a dough something that is not hard to spread on your legs, the softer it is the better it will cling to the hair and better results come up. 2. Since it's basically plucking, try to stretch the skin for minimal pain. 3. If it gets messy or stuck to your skin , leave it for 5 mins, do another area and get back to it with a fresh piece of paste or sprinkle some baby powder. that will dry it a bit and give you a better control.4. For sensitive or sweaty skin, sprinkle some baby powder that will dry the area and not stick to the skin. 6.For thin or short hair, apply a very thin layer of the paste and pull and it will remove the tiny wanderers.7. Because I have sensitive skin and to prevent any bacteria from growing in place of the hair pores, I spread a thin layer of antibiotic/antibacterial cream after showering. Also stay away from deodorants for 24 hours, the antibacterial cream will keep you smelling good for that day. Keep it up , happy sugaring :)

      pansy HB hi you seem to know a lot more about sugaring then other people. I just made some sugar wax yesterday and I've grown out my leg hair for like a few months and I tired to wax them but the wax wasn't really getting all the hair. But! I waxed my underarms and that worked better the well!. So I was wondering did I do anything wrong for my leg hair?

    • @pansyhb6116
      @pansyhb6116 7 лет назад +5

      The legs are drier than the armpits, if so, you can wax it after you're done with the under arms, the piece will have been worked and will stick better. If you are using a new piece of sweet, add some drops of warm water and work it until you can squish it in your palm and it comes smoothly through the fingers as a homogeneous paste. By the way, the paste is sold in Middle Eastern and Indian stores as well, hope that's helpful.

      I'm having some trouble with making my paste. I made it but when I wet my hands and scoop it out to knead it, it becomes runny and starts melting/warming up. If that means it's under done then what should I do about it?

      No metal is safe, plastic is dangerous. There is no prob if u microwave metal spoons

    • @Poohbify
      @Poohbify 9 лет назад +4

      Lazeena Akram I wouldn't say safe, if one puts a metal object (e.g. spoon) in a piece of food or in liquid containing water (e.g. coffee, tea, soup, stew) there is no problem.
      But put a metal object on a plate and one will likely see electrical discharges, like lightning.
      Putting food on a metal plate is ok in SOME microwave models. The microwaves are simply reflected into the food.

    I've been sugaring for years. When you cook the sugar, you want to keep it at medium heat, because sugar gets hot and cooks very quickly. You need to use a thermometer, the same kind you would use to measure the heat of oil, to check the temperature of the sugar. You want to cook the sugar until it reaches 250 degrees. This is considered a softball. Anything past 250 degrees is considered a hardball and you really can't use it at this point to wax. I also find using raw organic unrefined sugar is better for sugaring. Regular sugar cooks up quicker, below 250 degrees, and it's hard to get the consistency right for waxing. CAUTION: The sugar is extremely hot and you will burn yourself if your not careful.

    • @Sashagram
      @Sashagram 8 лет назад +2

      Hello! You said you've been sugaring for years; does it really work for facial hair?

    • @reina1124
      @reina1124 8 лет назад +4

      You can use the wax for facial hair. The consistency of the wax has to be very soft for it to be able to pull the hair. Facial hair isn't as course or thick as underarm or pubic hair. You also need to clean the area with alcohol and then apply powder to remove the dirt and oils on your face before waxing.

    • @reina1124
      @reina1124 8 лет назад +3

      I recommend cooking the wax to a syrupy consistency, about 240 degrees, to use on facial hair. You might want to also use a stick to apply and a cloth to remove wax.

    I've been using this for years now, and it's just great. You can use brown sugar too, I think it's actually better, it gently exfoliates and cleans your skin. I use it with denim strips (I cut an old jeans in short strips). And then you can just wash and reuse the strips, as the sugar-wax will easily dissolve and wash under water with little effort.

    • @bubbles22293
      @bubbles22293 9 лет назад +3

      Alexa Golden Yes you can use the same piece until you're done. The problem that I find with it is that I have really sweaty palms, and if I use a piece for too long, the ball get's too sticky & it just sticks all over my hands. As long as it stays the right consistency, you can keep using it.

    Great video! I tried this but I was only successful at removing peach fuzz on my knuckles of my fingers. LOL! No leg hair or armpit hair came off. I got some very small fuzz randomly off my upper lip. You also need to not get this on the rim of the jar because it hardens and you can't put the lid on. LOL! Learning process. I think I need more information from cooking to using. Don't know how long to cool it. I'm not giving up, there's gotta be a way to do it. Great video! I enjoyed watching it and meeting your Aunt. Very nice Kristina❣😊👍🏼

      You're cooking it too long. You need to cook it to the hard ball stage of candy which is about 250° F - 266° F. The sugar wax is basically hard caramel or nougat. If it's too sticky it either hasn't cooked enough or it still has too much water in it. Water is what causes it to be sticky. Hope I helped!

      So I just added a little bit of water to it and it worked 😳 if you still have it just add water but little by little

    Hi, Thank you for showing this technique in a professional way. I was able to prepare the wax properly. It worked fine the day I cooked it. But I am having trouble in storing and reusing it for later use.
    Q1- Suppose I store it in a Jar (fridge) and then re-heat to use it, then will I have to re-heat it to the point it is liquid like again and then re-stir it to form good texture? How do you reuse and store the unused wax using parchment paper? Do we need to re-heat it then?
    Q2- I was also finding it difficult to keep the ball firm enough to be usable, it soon became too sticky to the point it was not usable enough, tried cooling it down a bit in the fridge but still could not work. What's the best room temperature to do it in and how to deal with the sweat and body heat? Any ideas and suggestions?
    I really want to practice this technique just require someone to help me on above points :) Many Thanks!

    • @sams517
      @sams517 9 лет назад +7

      really? i mean money wise, shaving is definitely the cheapest if you don't wax yourself at home. and not to mention shaving is way less time consuming. i think waxing hands down is more high maintenance lol but for someone who's genetically hella hairy and grows back hair FAST, i think it's worth it

      I never shaved but I wouldn't want to. Buying creams/lotions and razors can get expensive meanwhile who doesn't have sugar and lemon at home. I only wax once a month and I can get away with 6 weeks, not to mentions that your skin is REALLY soft. You should give it a go

    NEVER PUT METAL ITEMS IN THE MICROWAVE. Depending on the ratio of metals in the item it can cause sparks, explode, and cause permanent damage to the microwave!!! She got lucky but NEVER, EVER TRY THIS AT HOME!!!
