Glenda thank you for your shopping video I do enjoy it. I don’t know what Michael’s is doing? It’s like they’re forgetting the yarn arts. Have a beautiful weekend.
I made a travel blanket for a friend's RV with the river run thick and quick a couple of years ago so it's not a new color but it worked up nicely. Thanks for taking us shopping. 💐
Glenda, in case nobody has told you, Michaels is opening a new store in the Flint, MI area in Burton MI. Ironically it is directly across the street from a Joanne Fabrics location in a mall. The current location is currently next door neighbors with Hobby Lobby half way across Genesee county. The new store will be next to a Big Lots and Home Depot.
I went to our newly opened Michaels and was so disappointed in the yarn selection. They only had 1 short aisle and it was mostly Red Heart yarn. Only a couple of Caron cakes . I ended up just going to Hobby Lobby and buying yarn. Hobby Lobby has like 6 aisles and so many brands and colors!
👋 Glenda and Cody! I usually only pick-up Caron Cinnamon Swirl cakes at Michael's since can't find them elsewhere and I like to see in person before the investment. I wait for buy one get one half off... 😊
Cory made me laugh...I wanna touch that, quit hogging it...hahahahahah. I love that he's become more comfortable doing videos with you that we can hear the banter and joking and love between you.
I am in Texas. I travel about 75 miles for chemo. While I am there I get to shop at the closest Michaels to my house. They don't have a lot of yarn. There is the plain solid colors of Loops n Threads, the section of maybe 10 colors of the chunky #5 sized, the cotton yarn very small amounts, maybe five shades of baby yarn, some red heart, small amount lion brand, and when they get cakes of yarn maybe four of each cake. You can only choose from maybe ten different types and colors of those cakes. On the end caps they put a small section of specialty yarns. Sometimes in the middle aisle they will have some of the fluffy chenille yarn. But with them only ordering small amounts the yarn is picked over and gone. I lucked out and got to buy four cakes that matched the other day. I came back two days later and most of the yarns were gone. Its hard to pick out enough to make a blanket at one time. I get an idea and write it down then work on picking up all the yarn over a period of several months to get enough for a blanket. You guys are luck over in the east. You have bigger choices. I watch videos like this and write down what each yarn is called if the person making the video calls them out so I can know what to order online. So please keep visiting store and maybe calling out more names of yarns, it helps us homebound people shop online. I love your vids, thank you!
Hi Glenda and Cody! Thanks for the Michael’s yarn tour. We don’t have much of a selection here so it’s nice to actually see what I could order on line. 🧶💕
I looked up the loops and threads fluffy chenille, and it’s polyester. Wouldn’t you rather have cotton on a bathmat? The other idea is if you choose to make the bathmat make the whole bathmat out of a less expensive yarn, and then just put the Chenille woven into the top somehow. Then the Chenille will be right where your feet are when you step on it. Depending on the flooring, you may need to use a rubber backing. Sounds like Cody might need that.
GLENDA, I'VE LEARNED IF I GOOGLE A CERTAIN YARN I WOULD LIKE TO USE AND PUT CLARENCE IN THERE THAT IT WILL BRING UP ALL THE COMPANIES THAT HAVE THAT YARN ON CLEARANCE MOST OFTEN IT'S ONLY CERTAIN COLORS BUT EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS❤❤❤❤
Forget it, our Michaels has one yarn aisle it sucks. More in the 6th Avenue NYC Michaels. I work allot with wool or alpaca. I did make a cowl and hat in Lion Brand Hometown acrylic.
Michael’s has definitely upped its game with the Loops & Threads so many more options & it is so much softer than it used to be. I still don’t like any of the yarns over a #5 weight, sad to see so much of that kind of yarn filling the shelves.
It’s dangerous for me to get into a yarn shopping mood, within 2 miles of my home I have a Joann’s. Hobby Lobby, Michael’s & Super Walmart! VERY DANGEROUS! 😳😂
You can try the t-shirt yarn at Joann or you can cut up old t-shirt in strips and roll it in a ball there is a you tube channel that show you how to cut up old t-shirt to make it in yarn it is essay to do but I would go to Joann first if you do not have old t-shirt your grandson Cody mint have some old t-shir. So have a good day.
Not saying this brand, but in the olden days, anything you bought that was Chanel had a tendency to rub off because it’s not manufactured the same way as the blanket yarn so you would have bald spots and whatever you wore lucky for me the three giant cones I boughtof Chanel back in the 70s I turned out to be allergic to and I ended up selling them to someone else
You don’t need as much yardage with a thicker yarn as you would a thinner yarn because it takes up more surface area. You wouldn’t be spending hundreds of dollars to make a small bath rug.
If you go to Herrschners or Yarnspiration and order on line your yarn is a lot cheaper than at Michaels Or at Joanns and you get in about 3-5 days. Their is no way I can afford $12.00 a skein skein.
GLENDA, NOT YELLING WITH THE ALL CAPS. MY FINGERS ARE JUST SORE AND GOING BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN CAPS HURTS ME MORE. QUESTION...HAVE YOU EVER ASKED THE YARN COMPANIES WHY SOME COLORS OF THE SAME YARN ARE SOFTER AND SOME ROUGHER?❤❤❤❤
Glenda thank you for your shopping video I do enjoy it. I don’t know what Michael’s is doing? It’s like they’re forgetting the yarn arts. Have a beautiful weekend.
They have a HUGE display of yarn! You don’t know how lucky you are! Thanks for taking me around! 😊

It seems like Michaels yarn department is getting smaller. They do have some nice yarn though. Thank you for taking us along. 🧶💜🙏🏻
Using the rose yarn now! Love it!

This was fun. I did the same thing the other day. I went to Michael’s and found yarn I liked. But, no sales.

Love going shopping with you and Cody! Was wondering, does Cody crochet?☺️☺️
Michael’s has definitely upped its game with the Loops & Threads so many more options & it is so much softer than it used to be. I still don’t like any of the yarns over a #5 weight, sad to see so much of that kind of yarn filling the shelves.
Could you do a video on not using hooks or knitting needles! You spoke about it on the video.
Cody has similar tastes in color to me
I would use t-shirt yarn for a rug

Yes, I agree.
My Michael’s has even less yarn!
