While I do love farming engagement, It seems like some of you missed the point of the graceful section. It's better to focus on agility xp, than graceful. It's not worth farming out graceful at terrible xp rates once you have unlocked something better. Notably, the wilderness course at 47 which is roughly 4x the xp of canifis.

70 fishing, fetching, prayer, defence, 75 smithing 50 construction 65 fire making 60 woodcutting, and defence like i can agree in the aspect that you should chase EXP over marks because by the time you hit 80 you will have most of the graceful outfit but man some of his takes are the dumbest takes ive seen.

stamina potions are expensive af too, i like strange fruit but you also need money for that :/. i managed to get most of my agility (61 rn) from mainly questing & using the xp lamps on it lol.
The Seers agility method is pretty darn misleading in this, considering you wouldn't have the stats capable of doing Hard diary, it'd just be much easier to farm it out in Canny and using that gear to do quests than to have to go through a bunch of quests without it before getting to the stage of the account that is capable of doing hard diary.

@ravenreaper754 same here. Can do hard except haven't done Barbarian assault. Also Seers is 100x better even without hard diary than staying at canifis to get full graceful. Staying at canifis your agility will be mid 50s most likely with full graceful. Seers you will likely end up 70 or higher starting it at 60 which is needed to complete questing. You also don't really need full graceful, boots of lightness and spottier cape work great to start with. The run without the teleport isn't that much worse. I do about 80 laps per hour speed and one mark per 5 or so laps. Canifis is I think 90 laps and 1 mark per 4 laps or so but about 1/3 experience rate. So you'll take about 20% more time for graceful but be about a 3rd or less of the experience that you will still need to grind anyway. Also bonus with seers is you can easily mix it into other skilling. Clue scroll taking you around seers, run 5 laps. Doing some woodcutting/forestry. Run a few laps during bank runs etc. Canifis is far more out of the way to just stop by.
Getting graceful is so easy and so nice to have as early as possible. Hard diary has a lot of requirements and you can use all those marks on Stam potions at that point.
It's definitely optional on main accounts considering you can buy teleport tabs and energy pots, but on Ironman accounts it should be your first priority.
Never bothered with it cause I hate training agility, so far quest rewards and xp lamps got me to 73 and I dont intend to train it any further. Got boots of lightness, penance gloves, spottier cape and woodland camo clothing for weight reduction

@Tar-mairon-re8oiits hundreds of laps. Something like 15+ hours of doing the same lap at canifis and you still aren't at 70 needed for SotE quest (about 56). Seers is about 17-20 hours without hard diary but you'll be over 70 agility or close to it. You also don't really need boots and cape as there is non graceful options for that (and gloves I guess). I did canifis till 50 and a small amount of fally but also did some other things in between to get experience and alot of lamps aswell and switched to seers at 60, 400ish laps there im now 70 and almost finished graceful (15 marks for boots and lost 5 marks to some bug). All up 1000 laps between the 2 courses and almost done graceful but instead of being 56 at canifis im 70+. Without lamps and stuff I think id probably have hit 70 agility or been close to it at full graceful. If I stayed at canifis id still be looking at 10ish hours of agility and likely rooftops to get to 70 I needed.
yea i have 771 laps in canifis and don't even remember too lol, also i kinda wanted gracefull to look cool while questing, so it was too much for me to wait until 60 to grind it
I completely disagree with the don’t camp Canfis for graceful. First this is assuming you have Seers hard diary done which is a big if. Second. This doesn’t account for time/ gp you save by getting graceful early to wear for questing. I did canifus rooftop until I got graceful then focused on questing for awhile before training agility again
canifis for graceful is horrible. big mistake. best to do canifis until lvl 40 and change to new agility course likke brimheaven or something. go back to get graceful set at seer village at lvl 60.
It actually will result in gp lost from time investment doing canifis over seers for the set. You will get enough marks for graceful from 60-70 on seers (800ish laps needed) . 70 needed for quest cape. Hard diary is nice and makes it better but even without id prefer 3x experience that seers offers over 2-4 marks per hour. Total cost difference between the 2 course via amylase crystals value is a few hundred gp but the time saved is 10+ hours if you went to wildy course or some other better methods in between 40 and 60. Or as I did, I used lamps and exp boosts on agility to skip rooftops. Just depends on if you want to get agility to 70 or full graceful first. Personally I did canifis for chest and legs. Boots of lightness and spotty cape. Then seers for gloves, hood, cape and just about at my boots now with 70 agility.
This Jake guy keeps commenting about canifis being inefficient but he is just wrong. Graceful at canifis is the optimal way and will save the most time while questing. If you're an iron it's a no brainer, if you're a main, well it's still optimal but it really doesn't matter. You act like you get more exp with another method until 60 and like you don't do seers after 60 if you have graceful... Which you could skip to sepulchre if you had full graceful which is far superior to seers anyways. You don't magically become 60 to do seers you have to grind it, and anything besides getting graceful is not optimal sub 60. Sorry Jake

Also not all playtime is equal. I remember I got mine at canifis during lunch breaks at work on my phone. I would not have spent that time questing or doing anything more effort intensive.
Getting graceful and agility early is probably one of the best starts to any account. You get better run energy with the higher levels, and you also get a set of gear that is an amazing substitute for your lack of energy/stam potions, that you can wear around the game while you spend 80% of your time running around early game anyway.

Quick note on void: Medium CAs also get you 7 points per veteran game. This tier is more realistic for people actually on the void grind, especially irons (btw)

I find the best way to play is quest by quest. Grinding skills only when need for the next available quest. Makes the game more enjoyable. Only worry about gp when it's needed and late game

7:17 ABSOLUTE best advice for new players. You don't need that much money, AND you can't make that much money efficiently anyways. Just work on training, questing, building your gameplay skills, and unlocking untradeables. Much better than acting like RS is a job and you just have to clock in, spend X hours doing the "most efficient" money maker, to afford something. If you play like that, you'll quit, because it isn't fun to force yourself to play like that.
Those marks rate for the seer course are with the diary. That's a tough sell for a new account. Canifis graceful isn't at all a waste of time though I would also consider / advise doing barb fishing to fairly high levels just to reduce failure rate before heading over to the rooftops.
The thing about doing dailies is it burns me out so fast. What happens is I'll have a day or two where I don't really feel like playing and I'll just log in to do a farm run and birdhouse run a few times but it really starts to become tedious and before I know it the only thing I log in to do on runescape is the dailies because gearing up for activities then gearing up to farm each time I log in is too tedious.
I wouldnt call getting graceful early a noob trap, theres plenty of quests youll be thankful you have it for with the bonus run restore. Irons dont have access to staminas like regular players do. 40-56 does not take that long on rooftops and with the update today giving a bit more exp for rooftops specifically i dunno why youd genuinely suggest they level by doing barb fishing over just getting it
I would say graceful is actually quite optional on normal accounts, but on Ironman accounts, it's absurdly good for literally everything. The earlier you can get it, the better.
My one thing is "have fun" so many players have lost the plot man. Everyone is so caught up in tick perfect this and use all the plug ins to turn it into a tile clicking simulator. People! This game is a fantasy RPG and one of the best one's! It's charming, witty, funny. You're not some god selected hero destined to save the world, you're just an adventurer who wants cool stuff and cool powers. Don't be afraid to get into that. Thats the best part of the game and you can enjoy it at any level. Click the funny dialogue options, be a jerk to NPCs, have fun with it. Finally, stop forcing your tick perfect, no time waste BS on the people who can still have fun. People keep telling me I'm playing "wrong" because I'm not afking at crabs and I kill everything with knives, even when the mob is weak to magic. I don't care, I'm having a blast, my adventurer solves every problem by throwing knives, that's the role I am playing and I'm loving it, that shouldn't bother you lol. But boy have I made people mad on reddit over this

yes you can play a sandbox mmo any way you want, theres no "wrong way to play" but for people with the goal of hard end game it can take a long time to reach. due to the time investment its worth it maximize the time you put in. If you want to sit there at crabs and knife til 99 cool no one will stop you, but dont complain about people who want more bang for their buck time wise

Also as a 99 farmer Chad (95 combat lmao) I only really concentrate one patch of herbs, at the farmers guild, where I teleport often as my "hub" the rest of the patches are a "if I have time" thing and I usually go around planting some herbs and if I am around the area or feel like it I grab them all for a few 100K..
If doing mahogany homes, or cooking in hosidius for the range buff, the disease free hosidius patch nearby to the xerics talisman teleport is a great one to use too. I just keep using it for watermelons for compost, limpwurts and herbs.
I learned to just ride woodcutting and cooking crafts into several tens of thousands of common runes for skilling magic into the varrock teleport as I play the game. Very useful, well pointed video here early game gold farming is a totally misread thing.
Big disagree on Guthans. If you’re meleeing a boss like bandos why would you waste a bunch of invy slots on a mage switch and sacrifice thralls to bring blood barrage? The whole set is like 1m. You can’t simply just say it’s old content so it’s outdated. It’s still good at GWDs and DKs which is also old content btw. Honestly the best way to start account is to pick the account type, then google a speedrunning google doc, do the outline and then you play as you wish on which ever account type , its setup so you could (at 8hrsa day) get quest cape in a month

The real truth about graceful is that you can afk it and don’t have to spend the full time running circles if you don’t want to. Marks of Grace can only spawn once every 3 minutes and after that every time you begin a lap they will have a chance to spawn. Canifis has the highest spawn chance on a new lap, being 2/3 chance for a mark to spawn. So you can literally just have a mark spawn, get it, wait 3 minutes at the end of the course and then start a new lap after the 3 minutes are up until another spawns. There is no need to make it more painful than that.

The time value point you made is probably one of the most important. Everyone goes through this it’s almost natural for people to wanna stack gp but there’s a point where you have to just start buying stuff because it’s a waste of time to get the supplies
I disagree with not doing graceful early. Sure, the exp won't be as good as it would if you waited for 60, but it's not like the quests are gonna give you xp faster than you could get by just grinding it out. Plus, graceful makes doing early quests SO much more bearable.
You set the goals and expectations on the game. Dont listen to videos like this telling you whats a waste of time and not, its a game after all. The sole purpose of you playing is because you enjoy it. This means that whatever you find entertaining and fun should be your only worry regardless of what it is. Gaming has lost its purpose long ago since sweats and tryharding became such an apparent factor in most games. I mean to any runescape player who looks back at how they played the game as a kid knows how different it is. I cant speak for everyone but personally i was totally hooked on killing giants for hours on end unaware of what mobs to really kill for "maximun efficiency". Its a game after all meant to entertain. The quest cape is kind of a noob trap too if you plan on getting high construction eventually, this is because you can build a fairy ring in your POH. The quest cape tele is free but if you tele to your house you can use the pool and the fairy ring at the same time. I'm not saying that quests are bad though, most quests are really beneficial to do. If someone doesn't enjoy quests that much I would just recommend doing the most beneficial quests and wouldn't recommend for them to get the quest cape if they're going for high level construction eventually.
I've been living off bonds on OSRS since they were released basically and haven't started regretting it until very very recently now that they're over 10m. All the dailies mentioned can generally be enough to make that every two weeks for about a fifth of the time. Definitely spent way too much money on bonds but it never really bothered me.
Think the biggest tip I gave my friend was don’t worry about mid maxing everything. Bis gear doesn’t matter much vs practice and leveling. Get items that compliment every style like the fury, combat bracket, barrows gloves, ligh bear. Minimize swaps and upgrade your gear once you start doing things like raids, vorkath and so on. Skilling for you gear will take a painfully long time. Vs rocking a 30m set and raiding.
I don't think that Graceful in low level is a noob trap. You'll train agility anyway and the best way in low-mid levels to train it is rooftop course anyway. Yes, you'll change to seers village at lvl 60+ but NOT to Sepulchure. For Sepulture you need to complete quest Sins of the Father and I don't think that true noob won't have a full graceful at the moment when he will be able to complete this (in matter of skills and equipment)
True the sins boss fight was a challenge at 95 cb with 75 att 82 str and 70ish Def with piety Brews and restores. He was tougher than normal gauntlet hunleif imo.
Just started a group ironman with a buddy. This video was awesome. I'm trying to not get burned out again. I'm coming back from a year long break after being in a sweaty clan that kinda ruined the game for me. This time around, I'm trying to play efficient, but not at the expense of fun. I guess I'm trying to intelligently enjoy the game, but not over stress being super efficient. I actually read quest dialogue last night instead of spacebar the whole way. Idk if you already have a video for it, but what advice to you have for new group irons?
I never played group iron, but I did play a normal iron for a long time. The oziris guide is just top tier tbh. it's a good guideline to provide framework, then you can just go off and do other stuff you feel like doing, and then come back when you need an idea for what to do next.
Graceful: Fair point. Void: Putting it off until 100 combat isn't terrible. Because around that time it is good to use for two or three way switches when you are learning bosses and cluttering your inventory with tons of gear is counter-productive. Which makes putting it off until hard combat achievment completion a pretty bad idea. Quests: I agree. But I love quests. If you hate em, then no point in grinding them all out right away. Do them as you need to for progreesion. Dailies: Sure, do the ones you are willing to do. The more the merrier but they won't make or break you. In the long run, herb runs are what have made me the majority of my GP. Hell, I got 95% of my exp for 99 Prayer and 99 Hunter from the daily ectofuntus and bird houses alone. Focusing on GP: To each their own. Raids are literally "the game" for a lot of players. But you're right; in the early to mid game, crazy amounts of GP doesn't really matter. Most content can be done on budget setups. And players will make plenty of GP for upgrades as they just progress their account. Doing slayer and taking on boss tasks is just one example of how making GP from account progression is done. Time efficient skilling: .... Dropping redwood logs? When the bank is like 10 seconds away? I never understood why people do this. It is an unfortunate state of the game that most skilling grinds, even the "best GP/hr" methods, are not very profitable. But the I think a huge amount of the playerbase, myself included, are not going to stomach the idea of doing very click-intensive, high attention demanding skilling methods for hours and hours. Chopping and banking redwood logs is slow. Catching anglerfish is slow. Star mining is slow. But AFK skilling can be done while I'm doing literally anything else in life. I would much rather get half of the exp/hr if it means I can be AFK instead of doing tick-perfect barbarian fishing for hours and hours of my life. Expensive item upgrades: Agree. People call prims, pegs, and eternal boots "Jordans" for a reason. They are the embodiment of luxury upgrades in the game. And a lot of high-end gear falls in the "luxury" category for exactly the reasons you stated. Nowadays, you can pretty much skip ACB and Armadyl armor and go straight to BOWFA and crystal armor, the exceptions being where having an open shield slot is pretty much mandatory. Bonds: I agree. But to each their own once again. I'd rather just use my wallet to fund my membership. Fear of content: Hard agree. Nobody was an expert with raids on day 1. Virtually nobody (literally nobody?) gets their infernal cape on their first try. Every piece of content has some sort of a learning curve. Anybody could get an infernal cape if you are willing to take the time that is needed to actually learn how to do it. It's just a game: False, OSRS is life. But yah, seriously, this is why I don't think that doing the "most efficient" method for anything in this game is always worth it. OSRS is a weird, virtual, endurance event. In ultramarathon, they say "Run your own race." In OSRS, "Play your own game." Solid video :)

Maybe im just past the point now but i always hear about how useful the questcape is but ive had it for years and never once used it for anything, Maybe it helps early or midgame but at endgame its a dust collector
@eprimchad2576 unless you got a quest cape post POH fairy ring, then the QPC is bis for the closest fairy ring to a telepprt, not to mention its free, and unless youre like me who has a 96 combat qpc on ironman, you should be able to easily do lumby elites for the 0 need for dramen staff
A lot of people missing the point of the graceful section. The point is to spend your time doing higher xp methods rather than staying at canifis. Even just moving on to the Falador course is 50% more xp per hour. (Edit: Project rebalance made Falador even better and is now 1.75-2x the xp of Canifis). Seers without the hard dary is still easily 3x the xp/hr. Stop wasting your time getting 14k xp/hr when you have significantly better training methods that can still progress you towards graceful if thats a priority for you.
The best part about the first agility section is your numbers for marks of grace are blatantly wrong. Canifis gives 16-18 marks per hour FOREVER because of a bug in the course's code. Seers gives 14-16.6 per hour WITH hard diary. Hard diary requires stuff like starting DT1, multiple level 70 skills, and a bunch of other quests. If you think waiting for hard diary for graceful is worth it you're blatantly wrong. The other part about this is that starting at 40 agility at Canifis you are likely to finish Graceful around level 56-57 meaning you can finish the grind BEFORE you even have access to Seers. The only caveat I'll give is that with the recent changes to the courses in May, the Falador course does give 1.75x the experience as Canifis so it can be worth swapping over there at 50 now but in NO way is it worth waiting to do agility/graceful till Seers. That's just blatantly bad advice and honestly, the rest of the video isn't worth watching after seeing such a poorly researched/educated take as the first.
Canafis is actually 18-20 marks per hour (depending on RNG) if you time it with the spawn roll cooldown properly. It also gives you about 2 minutes of AFK between collecting the marks, or you can use that time in-game to do other things like fletching, HLA, or even crafting (using the nearby bank to restock) while you wait for the cooldown, or of course you can run around like a sweat lord for agility XP before you wait, though the agility XP rate sucks so the time might be better spent training another skill.
as someone who grinded for a soulreaper on an iron, and has been paying attention to the blogs, yes it is going to be a very good item for melee slayer. It's BiS DPS for that. Also BiS at vardorvis, 2nd BiS at ToB and Duke and very good at other bosses where you use melee
yeah dont worry guys, skip your canifis grind until you have...70 fletching, woodcutting, prayer, defense, firemaking, strength, construction and smithing. just go get those first, itll DEFINITELY save you time, oh and for sure go do 20 quests without your graceful set to get to lvl 60 agility so you can start getting your graceful. what a fuckin collection of cooked takes.
Some people grind Graceful early on Ironman. Not sure about reg. However, you need to factor in the time you've saved by having Graceful early, unless you just grind Agility and nothing else until about 70. In fact, you really want to be logical, you likely want to instantly grind Agility with Farming and other passive/daily/hourly things until 99. No idea if it's actually meta on all account types to get 99 Agility before anything else, but it's a good idea in general. Nice cape to wear, and very useful, and it can also give good GP. (Better is to do Fletching or Alching at the same time for zero time, but this makes the progress much less afk.)
I have to say, void and not elite is worth it in the early game, because its really good low level armour for pretty much free Edited part I used reg void, up untill I got my first 80m and don't regret it one bit. Prayer bonus+attack stats omg so usefull
a better take for the Graceful set would be don't cap Morytania and instead just go where the xp is at. Getting higher Agility levels means your run energy will replenish faster. So it's better to just do the best rooftop course in terms of xp and you'll get the Graceful set naturally. Plus the mark rates aren't even that much slower so it might just be like maybe 1or 2 extra hours in the long run but you'll have better stats overall
Ez fight cave strat. Kill on task with imbued slayer helm. Dragonbone necklace (SAME OFFENSIVE STATS AS FURY with + 12 prayer bonus, minus str bonus) Bring blood blitz/burst [i bring a blood bark switch) Light bearer [alot more blowpipe specs] blowpipe with amethysts/rune darts blessed d hide, 4 brews, 3 divine bastion pot (4) [for 60 minutes of boosted range dps], 3 manta, 3 karambwan, 10-12 super restores. Dont panic chugg brews if you take damage prior to jad itll drain your range. Get the correct pray up, Switch to blood spells and heal. Play the Italy rock and always try to get melee stuck so you can take them out on mage rounds if you cant keep mage pray up and kite melee with range, if BP range is too short to attack something like the ranger without dragging you into line of sight of mage switch to mage and kill from distance. And just kill healers while watching jads attacks ez Fire cape. I did it first try with this setup at 2 mantas 1 bwan healers slapped me up, no brew sips used they were there incase i tanked a jad hit. And need a shark bwan brew combo. Gl
I got graceful as soon as possible at Canifis. I used mobile whenever I had some free time. It has helped me out a ton. I use it constantly for questing and herb runs etc. Waiting for that long is pointless.
I really like the last point. I have loved RuneScape since I was a kid in 2005, but I know something is wrong in my life if I’m playing too much RuneScape. It’s great, but there’s a lot of life out there too
I will say, healing with guthans is useful in 2 occasions, AFK slayer and god wars dungeon if you're tanking. AFK slayer is good because while it is slower, you don't have to bring supplies and you're AFK anyways, and it's great in godwars dungeon for tanking because you are gonna most likely use bones to peaches. Also healing with guthans is cheaper than blood spells
Yeah its a good low level healing set. Once you get higher even afk slayer is better with blood fury, but Guthans is def still valuable for new players.
so I am new player and this guy tells me to get Hard Combat Achievements b4 farming void set - like the achievement it self is going to take hundreds of hours. It also needs 87slayer where the void set would be a nice upgrade. Youre probably better off just getting 100 combat and meds done then grinding it, even with just the veteran boat and no bonus points its so much faster than using the other boats

Waiting to grind out graceful at seers is not actually all that smart in my opinion. That means while at seers, you will go through a ton more doses of stamina or energy potions, or do a ton more walking while waiting for energy to recharge
The Amethyst portion not being worth the time is very debatable now, considering the massive buffs it and the mining gloves got with the update this week. True the price has dropped slightly, but with getting 3 or more from each node now, it requires far less clicking. Each one is still roughly 3800gp, and making them into dart tips makes even more. You can essentially click one, and make a minimum of just over 11k without needing to click again.
The biggest noob trap: Worrying about METAs and not doing whatever you feel like doing. If you feel like you're making progress, then you're doing something right
i dont agree with the first one as a iron rushing graceful is actually one of the best things u can do to start for one most agility requirements are done u also finish around 60 which is amazing to then start about 200k gp per hour at a really low level at desert pyramid and also helps since u will still need to do most quests and wont have energy pots i start my iron man with mills because of agility grind and u will easily hit 70 plus without seers while making huge profit

Its depends where you life and which currency are you earning, because... when i was life in England and earn my first money in pounds, did reasearch of market about requirements food, flat, and daily cost of life i decide immediately to buy yearly membership, just like that. Living in Poland, Yearly memberbership in exchange is very costly. Yea its one payment for whole year, but cost of everything comparing to salary is expensive. In rs3 even being maxed i couldnt play like "bond to bond" because inflaction there grown to huge numbers. :D That why i jumped to OSRS where it looks very clever and smooth to play. Greetings!
Void makes sense earlier, getting those combat achievement tasks requires high combat stats and full void gives you an extra max hit or two against low defense monsters making it great for afk sand crab training. Also Pest Control is insanely easy and it only takes 12-16 hours to get the full set on the medium boat with no combat achievements. The amount of time you lose at pest control will be made up for by more efficient afk training if you want to go that route.
I talk myself out of everything. I aways assume things will be too hard. I'm level 115, with 99 prayer, 96 strength, 85 Att, Def, and Ranged. I haven't even tried the fight caves yet. I haven't tried a raid either. I've also never went into the Wilderness outside of a quest, or fought a non-quest boss. I've been playing since 2005 and there's so much I've never done.
It will always remain too hard, until you begin to venture out into the great unknown and try. FWIW, I have 1 (one) successful fight cave and it took 5 or 6 attempts to finally nail it, because I'm bad and can't pray flick/switch as effectively as I'd like to be able to. Still did it, tho. Give it a shot, you only stand to lose a few supplies.
Disagree with the graceful...at least when it comes to an Ironman account. I just made one and prioritized it. With the amount of early questing that you do and limited teleports, having graceful early game is huge. Any excess agility training goes to stamina potions.
terrible advice aside from the smoke a joint thing. Also it definitely wouldve been worth mentioning the farming plugin on Runelite since you harped on the quest one. it literally tells you where all of the patches are and when/if the herbs/trees/whatever are ready. I wish I had known about it sooner.

While I do love farming engagement, It seems like some of you missed the point of the graceful section.
It's better to focus on agility xp, than graceful.
It's not worth farming out graceful at terrible xp rates once you have unlocked something better.
Notably, the wilderness course at 47 which is roughly 4x the xp of canifis.
Not taking into consideration down time due to pkers and money spent sounds a bit sketchy tbh

Questing without graceful in the eqrly game is a very long walk
stamina potions are expensive af too, i like strange fruit but you also need money for that :/. i managed to get most of my agility (61 rn) from mainly questing & using the xp lamps on it lol.
The Seers agility method is pretty darn misleading in this, considering you wouldn't have the stats capable of doing Hard diary, it'd just be much easier to farm it out in Canny and using that gear to do quests than to have to go through a bunch of quests without it before getting to the stage of the account that is capable of doing hard diary.

Also Seers is 100x better even without hard diary than staying at canifis to get full graceful. Staying at canifis your agility will be mid 50s most likely with full graceful. Seers you will likely end up 70 or higher starting it at 60 which is needed to complete questing.
You also don't really need full graceful, boots of lightness and spottier cape work great to start with. The run without the teleport isn't that much worse. I do about 80 laps per hour speed and one mark per 5 or so laps. Canifis is I think 90 laps and 1 mark per 4 laps or so but about 1/3 experience rate. So you'll take about 20% more time for graceful but be about a 3rd or less of the experience that you will still need to grind anyway.
Also bonus with seers is you can easily mix it into other skilling. Clue scroll taking you around seers, run 5 laps. Doing some woodcutting/forestry. Run a few laps during bank runs etc. Canifis is far more out of the way to just stop by.
Getting graceful is so easy and so nice to have as early as possible. Hard diary has a lot of requirements and you can use all those marks on Stam potions at that point.
It's definitely optional on main accounts considering you can buy teleport tabs and energy pots, but on Ironman accounts it should be your first priority.

@Tar-mairon-re8oiits hundreds of laps. Something like 15+ hours of doing the same lap at canifis and you still aren't at 70 needed for SotE quest (about 56). Seers is about 17-20 hours without hard diary but you'll be over 70 agility or close to it. You also don't really need boots and cape as there is non graceful options for that (and gloves I guess).
I did canifis till 50 and a small amount of fally but also did some other things in between to get experience and alot of lamps aswell and switched to seers at 60, 400ish laps there im now 70 and almost finished graceful (15 marks for boots and lost 5 marks to some bug). All up 1000 laps between the 2 courses and almost done graceful but instead of being 56 at canifis im 70+. Without lamps and stuff I think id probably have hit 70 agility or been close to it at full graceful. If I stayed at canifis id still be looking at 10ish hours of agility and likely rooftops to get to 70 I needed.

I completely disagree with the don’t camp Canfis for graceful. First this is assuming you have Seers hard diary done which is a big if. Second. This doesn’t account for time/ gp you save by getting graceful early to wear for questing. I did canifus rooftop until I got graceful then focused on questing for awhile before training agility again
canifis for graceful is horrible. big mistake. best to do canifis until lvl 40 and change to new agility course likke brimheaven or something. go back to get graceful set at seer village at lvl 60.
It actually will result in gp lost from time investment doing canifis over seers for the set. You will get enough marks for graceful from 60-70 on seers (800ish laps needed) . 70 needed for quest cape. Hard diary is nice and makes it better but even without id prefer 3x experience that seers offers over 2-4 marks per hour.
Total cost difference between the 2 course via amylase crystals value is a few hundred gp but the time saved is 10+ hours if you went to wildy course or some other better methods in between 40 and 60. Or as I did, I used lamps and exp boosts on agility to skip rooftops.
Just depends on if you want to get agility to 70 or full graceful first. Personally I did canifis for chest and legs. Boots of lightness and spotty cape. Then seers for gloves, hood, cape and just about at my boots now with 70 agility.
This Jake guy keeps commenting about canifis being inefficient but he is just wrong. Graceful at canifis is the optimal way and will save the most time while questing. If you're an iron it's a no brainer, if you're a main, well it's still optimal but it really doesn't matter. You act like you get more exp with another method until 60 and like you don't do seers after 60 if you have graceful... Which you could skip to sepulchre if you had full graceful which is far superior to seers anyways. You don't magically become 60 to do seers you have to grind it, and anything besides getting graceful is not optimal sub 60. Sorry Jake

Also not all playtime is equal. I remember I got mine at canifis during lunch breaks at work on my phone. I would not have spent that time questing or doing anything more effort intensive.
Getting graceful and agility early is probably one of the best starts to any account. You get better run energy with the higher levels, and you also get a set of gear that is an amazing substitute for your lack of energy/stam potions, that you can wear around the game while you spend 80% of your time running around early game anyway.

7:17 ABSOLUTE best advice for new players. You don't need that much money, AND you can't make that much money efficiently anyways. Just work on training, questing, building your gameplay skills, and unlocking untradeables. Much better than acting like RS is a job and you just have to clock in, spend X hours doing the "most efficient" money maker, to afford something. If you play like that, you'll quit, because it isn't fun to force yourself to play like that.

Those marks rate for the seer course are with the diary. That's a tough sell for a new account. Canifis graceful isn't at all a waste of time though I would also consider / advise doing barb fishing to fairly high levels just to reduce failure rate before heading over to the rooftops.
The thing about doing dailies is it burns me out so fast. What happens is I'll have a day or two where I don't really feel like playing and I'll just log in to do a farm run and birdhouse run a few times but it really starts to become tedious and before I know it the only thing I log in to do on runescape is the dailies because gearing up for activities then gearing up to farm each time I log in is too tedious.

40-56 does not take that long on rooftops and with the update today giving a bit more exp for rooftops specifically i dunno why youd genuinely suggest they level by doing barb fishing over just getting it
I would say graceful is actually quite optional on normal accounts, but on Ironman accounts, it's absurdly good for literally everything. The earlier you can get it, the better.

yes you can play a sandbox mmo any way you want, theres no "wrong way to play" but for people with the goal of hard end game it can take a long time to reach. due to the time investment its worth it maximize the time you put in. Also as a 99 farmer Chad (95 combat lmao) I only really concentrate one patch of herbs, at the farmers guild, where I teleport often as my "hub" the rest of the patches are a "if I have time" thing and I usually go around planting some herbs and if I am around the area or feel like it I grab them all for a few 100K..
If doing mahogany homes, or cooking in hosidius for the range buff, the disease free hosidius patch nearby to the xerics talisman teleport is a great one to use too. I just keep using it for watermelons for compost, limpwurts and herbs.
Herb runs are for iron men. I don't play daily scape

I learned to just ride woodcutting and cooking crafts into several tens of thousands of common runes for skilling magic into the varrock teleport as I play the game. Very useful, well pointed video here early game gold farming is a totally misread thing.

Honestly the best way to start account is to pick the account type, then google a speedrunning google doc, do the outline and then you play as you wish on which ever account type , its setup so you could (at 8hrsa day) get quest cape in a month

The real truth about graceful is that you can afk it and don’t have to spend the full time running circles if you don’t want to. Marks of Grace can only spawn once every 3 minutes and after that every time you begin a lap they will have a chance to spawn. Canifis has the highest spawn chance on a new lap, being 2/3 chance for a mark to spawn. So you can literally just have a mark spawn, get it, wait 3 minutes at the end of the course and then start a new lap after the 3 minutes are up until another spawns. There is no need to make it more painful than that.

9:22 Redwoods gives easy 85k xp/h with the crystal falling axe and lumberjack outfit + I even bank the logs (with log basket) for around 100k per hour.

The time value point you made is probably one of the most important. Everyone goes through this it’s almost natural for people to wanna stack gp but there’s a point where you have to just start buying stuff because it’s a waste of time to get the supplies
I disagree with not doing graceful early. Sure, the exp won't be as good as it would if you waited for 60, but it's not like the quests are gonna give you xp faster than you could get by just grinding it out. Plus, graceful makes doing early quests SO much more bearable.
You set the goals and expectations on the game. Dont listen to videos like this telling you whats a waste of time and not, its a game after all. The sole purpose of you playing is because you enjoy it. This means that whatever you find entertaining and fun should be your only worry regardless of what it is. Gaming has lost its purpose long ago since sweats and tryharding became such an apparent factor in most games. I mean to any runescape player who looks back at how they played the game as a kid knows how different it is. I cant speak for everyone but personally i was totally hooked on killing giants for hours on end unaware of what mobs to really kill for "maximun efficiency". Its a game after all meant to entertain. Just enjoys yourself, love
The quest cape is kind of a noob trap too if you plan on getting high construction eventually, this is because you can build a fairy ring in your POH. The quest cape tele is free but if you tele to your house you can use the pool and the fairy ring at the same time.
I'm not saying that quests are bad though, most quests are really beneficial to do. If someone doesn't enjoy quests that much I would just recommend doing the most beneficial quests and wouldn't recommend for them to get the quest cape if they're going for high level construction eventually.
I've been living off bonds on OSRS since they were released basically and haven't started regretting it until very very recently now that they're over 10m. All the dailies mentioned can generally be enough to make that every two weeks for about a fifth of the time. Definitely spent way too much money on bonds but it never really bothered me.
Think the biggest tip I gave my friend was don’t worry about mid maxing everything. Bis gear doesn’t matter much vs practice and leveling. Get items that compliment every style like the fury, combat bracket, barrows gloves, ligh bear. Minimize swaps and upgrade your gear once you start doing things like raids, vorkath and so on. Skilling for you gear will take a painfully long time. Vs rocking a 30m set and raiding.
I don't think that Graceful in low level is a noob trap. You'll train agility anyway and the best way in low-mid levels to train it is rooftop course anyway. Yes, you'll change to seers village at lvl 60+ but NOT to Sepulchure. For Sepulture you need to complete quest Sins of the Father and I don't think that true noob won't have a full graceful at the moment when he will be able to complete this (in matter of skills and equipment)
True the sins boss fight was a challenge at 95 cb with 75 att 82 str and 70ish Def with piety Brews and restores. He was tougher than normal gauntlet hunleif imo.

Great guide, you put a lot of things into great perspective, I definitely made a lot of these mistakes.
Just started a group ironman with a buddy. This video was awesome. I'm trying to not get burned out again. I'm coming back from a year long break after being in a sweaty clan that kinda ruined the game for me. This time around, I'm trying to play efficient, but not at the expense of fun. I guess I'm trying to intelligently enjoy the game, but not over stress being super efficient. I actually read quest dialogue last night instead of spacebar the whole way. Idk if you already have a video for it, but what advice to you have for new group irons?
I never played group iron, but I did play a normal iron for a long time. The oziris guide is just top tier tbh. it's a good guideline to provide framework, then you can just go off and do other stuff you feel like doing, and then come back when you need an idea for what to do next.

Void: Putting it off until 100 combat isn't terrible. Because around that time it is good to use for two or three way switches when you are learning bosses and cluttering your inventory with tons of gear is counter-productive. Which makes putting it off until hard combat achievment completion a pretty bad idea.
Quests: I agree. But I love quests. If you hate em, then no point in grinding them all out right away. Do them as you need to for progreesion.
Dailies: Sure, do the ones you are willing to do. The more the merrier but they won't make or break you. In the long run, herb runs are what have made me the majority of my GP. Hell, I got 95% of my exp for 99 Prayer and 99 Hunter from the daily ectofuntus and bird houses alone.
Focusing on GP: To each their own. Raids are literally "the game" for a lot of players. But you're right; in the early to mid game, crazy amounts of GP doesn't really matter. Most content can be done on budget setups. And players will make plenty of GP for upgrades as they just progress their account. Doing slayer and taking on boss tasks is just one example of how making GP from account progression is done.
Time efficient skilling: .... Dropping redwood logs? When the bank is like 10 seconds away? I never understood why people do this. It is an unfortunate state of the game that most skilling grinds, even the "best GP/hr" methods, are not very profitable. But the I think a huge amount of the playerbase, myself included, are not going to stomach the idea of doing very click-intensive, high attention demanding skilling methods for hours and hours. Chopping and banking redwood logs is slow. Catching anglerfish is slow. Star mining is slow. But AFK skilling can be done while I'm doing literally anything else in life. I would much rather get half of the exp/hr if it means I can be AFK instead of doing tick-perfect barbarian fishing for hours and hours of my life.
Expensive item upgrades: Agree. People call prims, pegs, and eternal boots "Jordans" for a reason. They are the embodiment of luxury upgrades in the game. And a lot of high-end gear falls in the "luxury" category for exactly the reasons you stated. Nowadays, you can pretty much skip ACB and Armadyl armor and go straight to BOWFA and crystal armor, the exceptions being where having an open shield slot is pretty much mandatory.
Bonds: I agree. But to each their own once again. I'd rather just use my wallet to fund my membership.
Fear of content: Hard agree. Nobody was an expert with raids on day 1. Virtually nobody (literally nobody?) gets their infernal cape on their first try. Every piece of content has some sort of a learning curve. Anybody could get an infernal cape if you are willing to take the time that is needed to actually learn how to do it.
It's just a game: False, OSRS is life. But yah, seriously, this is why I don't think that doing the "most efficient" method for anything in this game is always worth it. OSRS is a weird, virtual, endurance event. In ultramarathon, they say "Run your own race." In OSRS, "Play your own game."

Maybe im just past the point now but i always hear about how useful the questcape is but ive had it for years and never once used it for anything, Maybe it helps early or midgame but at endgame its a dust collector
@eprimchad2576 unless you got a quest cape post POH fairy ring, then the QPC is bis for the closest fairy ring to a telepprt, not to mention its free, and unless youre like me who has a 96 combat qpc on ironman, you should be able to easily do lumby elites for the 0 need for dramen staff
A lot of people missing the point of the graceful section. The point is to spend your time doing higher xp methods rather than staying at canifis. Even just moving on to the Falador course is 50% more xp per hour. (Edit: Project rebalance made Falador even better and is now 1.75-2x the xp of Canifis). Seers without the hard dary is still easily 3x the xp/hr. Stop wasting your time getting 14k xp/hr when you have significantly better training methods that can still progress you towards graceful if thats a priority for you.
The best part about the first agility section is your numbers for marks of grace are blatantly wrong.
Canifis gives 16-18 marks per hour FOREVER because of a bug in the course's code.
Seers gives 14-16.6 per hour WITH hard diary. Hard diary requires stuff like starting DT1, multiple level 70 skills, and a bunch of other quests. If you think waiting for hard diary for graceful is worth it you're blatantly wrong. The other part about this is that starting at 40 agility at Canifis you are likely to finish Graceful around level 56-57 meaning you can finish the grind BEFORE you even have access to Seers. The only caveat I'll give is that with the recent changes to the courses in May, the Falador course does give 1.75x the experience as Canifis so it can be worth swapping over there at 50 now but in NO way is it worth waiting to do agility/graceful till Seers. That's just blatantly bad advice and honestly, the rest of the video isn't worth watching after seeing such a poorly researched/educated take as the first.

Graceful is a noob trap? Okay max fire cape
Canafis is actually 18-20 marks per hour (depending on RNG) if you time it with the spawn roll cooldown properly. It also gives you about 2 minutes of AFK between collecting the marks, or you can use that time in-game to do other things like fletching, HLA, or even crafting (using the nearby bank to restock) while you wait for the cooldown, or of course you can run around like a sweat lord for agility XP before you wait, though the agility XP rate sucks so the time might be better spent training another skill.

as someone who grinded for a soulreaper on an iron, and has been paying attention to the blogs, yes it is going to be a very good item for melee slayer. It's BiS DPS for that. Also BiS at vardorvis, 2nd BiS at ToB and Duke and very good at other bosses where you use melee

yeah dont worry guys, skip your canifis grind until you have...70 fletching, woodcutting, prayer, defense, firemaking, strength, construction and smithing. just go get those first, itll DEFINITELY save you time, oh and for sure go do 20 quests without your graceful set to get to lvl 60 agility so you can start getting your graceful.

Some people grind Graceful early on Ironman. Not sure about reg. However, you need to factor in the time you've saved by having Graceful early, unless you just grind Agility and nothing else until about 70. In fact, you really want to be logical, you likely want to instantly grind Agility with Farming and other passive/daily/hourly things until 99. No idea if it's actually meta on all account types to get 99 Agility before anything else, but it's a good idea in general. Nice cape to wear, and very useful, and it can also give good GP. (Better is to do Fletching or Alching at the same time for zero time, but this makes the progress much less afk.)
I have to say, void and not elite is worth it in the early game, because its really good low level armour for pretty much free

I used reg void, up untill I got my first 80m and don't regret it one bit. Prayer bonus+attack stats omg so usefull
a better take for the Graceful set would be don't cap Morytania and instead just go where the xp is at. Getting higher Agility levels means your run energy will replenish faster. So it's better to just do the best rooftop course in terms of xp and you'll get the Graceful set naturally. Plus the mark rates aren't even that much slower so it might just be like maybe 1or 2 extra hours in the long run but you'll have better stats overall

Dont panic chugg brews if you take damage prior to jad itll drain your range. Get the correct pray up, Switch to blood spells and heal.
Play the Italy rock and always try to get melee stuck so you can take them out on mage rounds if you cant keep mage pray up and kite melee with range, if BP range is too short to attack something like the ranger without dragging you into line of sight of mage switch to mage and kill from distance. And just kill healers while watching jads attacks ez Fire cape. I did it first try with this setup at 2 mantas 1 bwan healers slapped me up, no brew sips used they were there incase i tanked a jad hit. And need a shark bwan brew combo. Gl

I got graceful as soon as possible at Canifis. I used mobile whenever I had some free time. It has helped me out a ton. I use it constantly for questing and herb runs etc.

There is - it gives you a red notification on login if you havent claimed the ones you care about (mainly bstaffs and dynamite)
I will say, healing with guthans is useful in 2 occasions, AFK slayer and god wars dungeon if you're tanking. AFK slayer is good because while it is slower, you don't have to bring supplies and you're AFK anyways, and it's great in godwars dungeon for tanking because you are gonna most likely use bones to peaches. Also healing with guthans is cheaper than blood spells
Yeah its a good low level healing set. Once you get higher even afk slayer is better with blood fury, but Guthans is def still valuable for new players.

so I am new player and this guy tells me to get Hard Combat Achievements b4 farming void set - like the achievement it self is going to take hundreds of hours. It also needs 87slayer where the void set would be a nice upgrade.

I don't believe it would be worth it for you to grind out void at this level. But if you REALLY want it, go for it.

Youre probably better off just getting 100 combat and meds done then grinding it, even with just the veteran boat and no bonus points its so much faster than using the other boats

Waiting to grind out graceful at seers is not actually all that smart in my opinion. That means while at seers, you will go through a ton more doses of stamina or energy potions, or do a ton more walking while waiting for energy to recharge
The Amethyst portion not being worth the time is very debatable now, considering the massive buffs it and the mining gloves got with the update this week. True the price has dropped slightly, but with getting 3 or more from each node now, it requires far less clicking. Each one is still roughly 3800gp, and making them into dart tips makes even more. You can essentially click one, and make a minimum of just over 11k without needing to click again.
The biggest noob trap: Worrying about METAs and not doing whatever you feel like doing. If you feel like you're making progress, then you're doing something right
i dont agree with the first one as a iron rushing graceful is actually one of the best things u can do to start for one most agility requirements are done u also finish around 60 which is amazing to then start about 200k gp per hour at a really low level at desert pyramid and also helps since u will still need to do most quests and wont have energy pots i start my iron man with mills because of agility grind and u will easily hit 70 plus without seers while making huge profit

I see that video on network standards is old, but i can only say one thing about "bond to bond". Its depends where you life and which currency are you earning, because... when i was life in England and earn my first money in pounds, did reasearch of market about requirements food, flat, and daily cost of life i decide immediately to buy yearly membership, just like that. Living in Poland, Yearly memberbership in exchange is very costly. Yea its one payment for whole year, but cost of everything comparing to salary is expensive. In rs3 even being maxed i couldnt play like "bond to bond" because inflaction there grown to huge numbers. :D That why i jumped to OSRS where it looks very clever and smooth to play. Greetings!
Void makes sense earlier, getting those combat achievement tasks requires high combat stats and full void gives you an extra max hit or two against low defense monsters making it great for afk sand crab training.
Also Pest Control is insanely easy and it only takes 12-16 hours to get the full set on the medium boat with no combat achievements.
The amount of time you lose at pest control will be made up for by more efficient afk training if you want to go that route.

I talk myself out of everything. I aways assume things will be too hard.
I'm level 115, with 99 prayer, 96 strength, 85 Att, Def, and Ranged. I haven't even tried the fight caves yet. I haven't tried a raid either. I've also never went into the Wilderness outside of a quest, or fought a non-quest boss. I've been playing since 2005 and there's so much I've never done.
It will always remain too hard, until you begin to venture out into the great unknown and try.
FWIW, I have 1 (one) successful fight cave and it took 5 or 6 attempts to finally nail it, because I'm bad and can't pray flick/switch as effectively as I'd like to be able to. Still did it, tho.
Give it a shot, you only stand to lose a few supplies.
Disagree with the graceful...at least when it comes to an Ironman account. I just made one and prioritized it. With the amount of early questing that you do and limited teleports, having graceful early game is huge. Any excess agility training goes to stamina potions.
But as for a normal account, I can see your point since you can buy Stam's and tele's.

terrible advice aside from the smoke a joint thing. Also it definitely wouldve been worth mentioning the farming plugin on Runelite since you harped on the quest one. it literally tells you where all of the patches are and when/if the herbs/trees/whatever are ready. I wish I had known about it sooner.
Nah Graceful early is a must, eventually you will waste hours trying to get something but that is what osrs is all about, the freaking grind!
