Dan, got you because I was looking for a certain The way it is (Bruce Hornsby) cover. I am a Bruce fan, and I have some of his records, and it happens to find nice covers from his music in YT. What a great surprise. This song is awesome, loved every single note, its crescendo, great rhytm, great falsetto, great piano, great guitar , great SONG. As far as tips/resources for improving as a songwriter: just write, record, reflect, and repeat. You'll find this to be an effective loop for making progress. Try dissecting your favorite songwriters' compositions and look to define the things that catch your attention. There's no easy path here, but cool that you're interested!
