Those with negative comments about the way and words she used about the noodle soup need to calm down. First off she is not offering Cambodian food history lessons but just simply sharing her recipe. If you feel there is a need of Cambodian cuisine education why don't you start your own RUclips channel instead of patronizing others for their lack of knowledge?

It depends on your pot. Normally the sweet radish, soup mix, and fish sauce already salty so taste it first before adding the salt. With a big pot like mind I believe about 1/4 cup which is 4 tablespoons.

I could eat a big bowl anytime of the week, however I had to cut down on the carb from the noodles. I'm not sure if you should use fish sauce in the soup itself? When I was younger, I remember they use a lot of fish sauce and other spices to flavor the soup instead of the chicken and beef soup mixes. I might be wrong.

vouyroy Hi Youyroy I had Ka Tieu in Cambodia, the flavor is different from here. I think here in the United States the broth is much favorable and richer. Also more fat too, which I know it's bad, bad, and bad for you. As for the Ka Tieu in Cambodia, it is more light and not as heavy.

i enjoy your shows very much and have learned a lot. Pse note Kuy Teav Phnom Penh is not the same as Pho from the word go. Beef Pho is beautiful in its own way. Kuy Teav Phnom Penh is unique recipe of the Teo Chiev chinese in Cambodia whose recipe is jealously kept from chef to chef. it's often the case that a disgruntled chef would leave a restaurant and take the recipe with him, along with the customers.

I believe Pho has star anise, cinnamon, and corridor seeds. I don't use any of these ingredients. I normally used sweet radish, carrots, and onion in the broth. This was the way my grandma and mother make it. As for the bones, you can use beef or pork it's up to what you like. My grandma used pork bones because it's cheaper than beef. However, she also have beef bones too when she has the money. I do remember she once said to me that she liked beef bones more cause it's more tasty than pork.

  • @crew

Please don't call that pho because it's a completely different dish than our Ka Tieu. Ka Tieu in our language means rice noodles. In Cambodia, when they say let's go eat Ka Tieu, they are talking about Ka Tieu Phnom Penh, not pho. Even in the vietnamese language, they have different names for all of the different types of rice noodles and "pho" is just one of them. They would call our version of rice noodles, Hu Tieu. I feel that there's a lack of linguistic understanding among Khmers in the US as opposed to the ones from Cambodia and new immigrants in the states. Even among Thai people, they have names for all the different types of rice noodles that they have.

Can you post the labels on the jars so I can buy them, Or make a review on them? I'm not Asian but want to try! Also why say that's not how you make something. Each family/individual likes a flavor more then the next! Therefore the recipe to meal changes!Go on RUclips there are so many ways to perfect fried chicken there isn't a wrong way!so I'm sure there are so many ways to make Khoy teil choose one that fits you! If people don't put a secret/twisted to food we won't grow up saying "my mom makes it best"! All our moms would make it the same = boring and no specialty to food or perhaps keeping a recipe the same is special! IDK! What ever works for you is only YOUR right way! Not everyone else's!
