I love Sarah J Maas over everything, her writing and the romances in her books are... I would die for Throne of Glass and Court of Throne and Roses 🥀 Rhys
Rhapsodic by Laura Thalassa is amazing! Im the exact same as you with how a book has to be super romance heavy for me to love it and this series just brings it home for me. So much angst and mystery and magic and just everything you want in a fantasy romance. oh and its definitely more of ya NA than a YA which just makes it even better.
So glad that you did mention ACOTR because I read that series bc of this video and am absolutely obsessed especially with the second book. Gave me a bad book hangover though, so sad it's over! (Didn't like the third book as much)
I really loved the first 2 books and was super excited to get on with the third but it was so boring from the starting that I couldn't finish it at all! I'm so sad coz I wanna see what's gonna happen in the end :(
I'm the opposite where I don't think every book needs a romance. In fact, I think some books would be better without it, but these were good recommendations. The Infernal Devices is one of my all-time favorite series, and I read Obsidian several years ago, but I remember loving it as well.
This video is perfect timing. I've also been in a fantasy mood the last two months and it's so surprising because I NEVER read fantasy. I only read romance. Folsom sounds soooo good. I really want to read it. Kind of afraid of the cliffhanger but I'll read book two directly afterwards. I need to read Roar too. I love Cora's books. I would totally recommend The Winner series by Marie Rutkoski. I read it last year and I ADORED it. The books were really intelligent and the romance between Arin and Kestrel was beautiful. But there are so many obstacles for them. I think you might like it.
Six of crows romance has me messed up rn so I'm here looking for a rebound since I'm almost finished and I dont think I'll be able to handle it when I do 😂
Elizabeth Hunter: The Irin Chronicles - I promise you will want your own Malachi and Zachary Webber narrates the audio. Also the Elemental Legacy Series by Hunter. Also if you like Laura Thalassa, then her Fallen World series is fabulous. Best anti-hero ever.
Roar is SO good! Also--you should check out Wicked by Jennifer L. Armentrout! It is a NA urban fantasy with heavy romance that is amazing. I keep trying to forget the plot so I can read it again haha. Honestly Jennifer L. Armentrout is just the queen of writing bad boys and angsty romances. Love your videos!
Mary E. Pearson is a goddess. I fell in love with the Kiss of Deception series and Dance of Thieves so hard. Read these books and praise that woman, omg.
Ruby Dixon, S. E. Smith and M. K. Eidem all write good sci-fi romance series. Grimm by Eidem in particular should not be missed. Anne Bishop's The Others series is the most amazing slow burn romance you'll ever read. Meg and Simon are my favorite book couple. C. L. Wilson's Fae series is great. Suzanne Wright has many good series (4 werewolves, a vampire and a demon one-the demon series is excellent), Ilona Andrews,Nalini Singh, Kresley Cole and Patricia Briggs just read everything they write. They're incredible. 2 excellent newer author finds for me are Annette Marie and C. P. Rider both are very good and slow burn.
I’ve only read the first book in the Shatter Me series and I really didn’t like it, but you’re making me want to try the second book and see if I like it more.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE EXISTENCE TRIOLOGY BY ABBI GLINES I swear to god that is one of the best books I’ve ever read in my entire life If you don’t read it then you’ve missed half your life 😹🙀😻😻😻
I'm right there with you on the romance genre! I started Thorne of Glass but just couldn't. I went to Court of Thorns and Roses, but it's so hard! Now I'm on to Black Dagger Brotherhood, but still struggling. Obviously, I'm not cut out for these types of books. I will not give up tho. (It just might take some time)
If you want a YA/adult fantasy that has a hate to love romance I recommend you Enchantment Moonstone by Evelyn Contant. It's a French translated work but it is truly amazing especially the romance
I love your list. Check out Laura Thalassa, especially The Bargainer series. You will love Des. :) Also, check out her new The Four Horsemen series. The first book is called Pestilence, who is one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. The book is also nominated in the best romance category on Goodreads this year. :)
Just finished a new novel by Derrick McCartney (McMinnville). Most of the book is a SCI-FI mystery focusing on a retired NYC detective who is dying (it's the first book in the trilogy, so, I guess, you need to take the whole dying thing with a grain of salt). In the last fourth of the book, he strikes up a relationship with his new neighbor (a financial analyst at a hedge fund). Inter-cultural relationship, which, according to the author's website, is developed over the next two novels. This novel's romance is about the meet cute and she wanting to be friends (and maybe more) and the protagonist leery about getting too close because of the age gap and his illness. Warning, you need to read through 400+ pages before you get to the relationship. Most of the novel is about the protagonist trying to solve the mystery. This might be a good book for men (and women) who straddle the line between SCI-FI or mystery on the one side and romance on the other and are looking for a likeable, introspective male protagonist.
Fallen Academy by Leia Stone is amazing!! It's a new adult Paranormal/Fantasy/Dystopian Romance trilogy. I'm almost done with the first book and it's so good!
I also like to have ROMANCE at the same time educational, always in my book in order for me to love it 😅 i love fantasy romance and historical romance soooo much
Have you read These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Megan spooner, it is an amazing sci-fi young adult that as a really great romance. You HAVE to check it out!!!! The relationship is like a hate to love and I couldn’t put it down!
I looooved a court of thorns and roses ❤ the rest of the series I thought was meh mabey because I wasn't over Tamlin lol anyone with me tho!? he wasnt so baddd 😭😭
I know how u feel 10000%, I absolutely adore rhys but whenever I think of tamlin it high-key hurts my heart just because the whole first book was literally centred around him and his swoony character, basically making it impossible for the reader not to fall in love with him, and then all of a sudden I’m just meant to forget about him!? I couldn’t, especially knowing the pain and betrayal he was going through ughh but I also love rhys with my whole heart😭😂
I'm kind of disappointed that almost all of these are YA romance. There are so many good adult sci-fi and fantasy romances out there that I think you would love. I just read Polaris Rising a few weeks ago and it is amazing. It's a solid space opera with a princess and mercenary team up. C.L. Wilson is always amazing. Amanda Bouchet is lovely. Jeffe Kennedy is good as well.
I got Roar and haven't read it yet, I know it's romance heavy and I'm not that crazy about romance, but I think knowing about it before going into it will help. If you would be interested we could set up a buddy read in 2019.
I don't have any adult recs....but you should def check out The Wrath and the Dawn duology by Renee Ahdieh it's a 1000 and one nights retelling and the romance is so angsty and swoony! Also, The Winners Curse trilogy has a super angsty romance, but also has a lot of political stuff going on!
If you see this comment please check out cecilia dart thorton, she has two series that are fantasy romance, the romance is slow burn but it's absolutely amazing. The four book series is multiple generations and more romance.
Hey i am your subscriber But it's my request to you that along with the books do tell us if their is any series or movie made on them I think it wil be easier for the ones who only wants to watch rather read . Actually i am movie lover not much a reader . So from the suggestion you gave i only knew about outlander and no other than that .
Obsidian is a SLOW BURN ROMANCE, like 2 or 3 boxes in kind of slow burn, which I kinda hate!!I don’t like love triangles at all. I like hate to love romance.
Kinda disappointed. Feel like the vid title was misleading and should have read "Fantasy/Sci-Fi Recommendations for YA Lovers" But I'm an adult and have been one for some time and I don't want my fantasy romance to feature high school kids. Looking forward to your adult version of this theme, though, because I, also, need a little romance in every book I read.
I love romance in my books, but I also enjoy sci fi :) If my other guy friends knew i read romance they would make fun of me for the rest of my life xD.
I love romance and I am always disappointed when it's not added in the story. I was wondering if you would ever consider making a recommendations video all about clean romances. I love romances but sometimes it's hard know which are clean and which are not.
Hi I just subscribed to you and I have a recommendation ever read the Ravenspire Series by C.J. Redwine? It’s so good 📚😊 The romances in each book are fantastic I fell in love with all4 books 📚😍😍🙂👍🏻
“I need romance. I need romance in my book to enjoy it if there’s no romance then I’m like ‘what’s the point?’.” GIRL ME THO
Literally same!! Unless it’s non-fiction. Fiction tho...I try so hard to be interesting in non-romantic books 🥴 it just ain’t it
Trueee!

I FLIPPING LOVE SIX OF CROWS BRO !!!!!!!!!
Roar is so good! The more romance the better! ;)

Angel fall by Susan Ee so underrated! It dystopian angel
You should read WarCross by Maire Lu, it's a sci fi book but it has romance in it, it's not romance heavy but there is romance in it
Wow, Folsom sounds so interesting! Kiss of Deception (the series) was okay, dragged on a little slow for me through the series.
Outlander. Is. EVERYTHING.
Mary E. Pearson is a goddess. I fell in love with the Kiss of Deception series and Dance of Thieves so hard. Read these books and praise that woman, omg.
Vampire Academy!! Love that book series

Court of Thorns is really good, you just have to be a little patient with this genre.
If you want a YA/adult fantasy that has a hate to love romance I recommend you Enchantment Moonstone by Evelyn Contant. It's a French translated work but it is truly amazing especially the romance
