Rudolph Boysen invented the Boysenberry, but it didn’t catch on commercially, and after Boysen broke his back, he gave up on his berry for many years. Eventually, Walter Knott heard about Boysen and his berry, and hired him to transfer to Knott’s Berry Farm the last few dying vines of the original berry. From that action, the boysenberry was rescued and the rest was history.

We bring bags and containers for leftovers too. Bring your own straws, they give paper straws. It makes a big difference. 🍇💛

OMG this hurts me. Love Knott's, boysenberries, and food in general! I texted my mom, who still lives in Orange County, to go so I can live vicariously through her. I hope they do more boysenberry festivals in the future! I'd definitely plan a strategically-scheduled work trip to make it to one of these.

The look on your cohost's face while you are eating is so priceless!😆 "Stop talking to the camera and hand over that purple food,Dad!"😆 I was in Knott's Berry Farm way back in the late 70s; I was maybe 4 years old! The only things I remember was watching my older brother go on Montazuma's Revenge, and the western train ride! When the robber got on to 'fake' hold-up the train, I nearly soiled my pants!!😆

@@YellowProductions Me and my family were in the area in 2015, and we had plans to go to Knott's Berry Farm, but we were so done with amusement parks by then, after Disneyland and Universal Studios, so we went to The Huntington Library instead! Have you been there before? Such an incredible place; it's like going to a museum and botanical gardens from around the world, at the same time! I'd love to see you make a video there!
Yeah. There are way too many theme parks here. And Disney and Universal are definitely more amazing than Knotts :). Yes.. Huntington Library is pretty neat! Haven't made a video on it yet though.
Hi Chris. Travelling Princess is so adorable. Her expressions are priceless as she watches you taste the food. She like where is my food daddy LOL. Pretty good deal for 5 different tastings for $45. I really like the hot dog and corn. Thanks for sharing and take care.
I've never had boysenberries or anything with boysenberry before. It does look really good though! My taste buds would be in heaven for the boysenberry brisket or pulled pork with the mac & cheese! Looks quite delicious!

Does he know there's little ride's for little ones to ride on. That's what Camp Snoopy is for. For small babies and children that can't ride on the big rides. Your little girl will enjoy Camp Snoopy rides and shows . When Knott's Berry Farm opens all the way up. 🥰💗
I do.. I'm just assuming a 14 month old is still too small for those rides. I'm sure she'll be ready next year!

You have the most adorable cohost. Love the way she smiles at you when you talk to her. 🥰 I was there the same day but seems we were in different areas of the park.. like we didn't visit Fiesta Village and Camp Snoopy until it was almost dark. I did keep an eye out for you but too many people were wearing yellow that day - employees and guests with Charlie Brown shirts. The funnel cake, the boysenberry Mac n cheese, and the pastrami sandwich on a pretzel bun were my favorites.
Oooh.. we missed the Pastrami Sandwich. Maybe next time!

I've never tried boysenberry but that looks delicious! I'm going there in may when the rides open again so hopefully the food will still be available.

Okay. This festival looks really interesting and I'd certainly be lying if I said I didn't want to try some of those boysenberry foods (the ice Cream meal with lemon glaze, the boysenberry meatloaf, beaf stew, brisket mac and cheese, pulled pork mac and cheese, boysenberry pie and bread pudding in particular sound really tasty).
Dunno when I'd ever be near Knotts Berry and in time for the Festival itself, but I can definitely say I'd be interested in going to the Festival at least once
It's a pretty fun and unique event for sure!

I grew up in L.A., but I’ve never been to the Boysenberry Festival! 😢. Is it usually in March?
Its a "spring time" event. The last one in 2019 was March to April

Hi I have a question. Would a single person be able to buy 2 tasting cards for themselves to get 10 food items or does there have to be 2 different names on the tasting cards to be valid. Thanks if anyone knows the answer.
Hmm.. not sure on that Tanya.. but I think you can "pay" for extra tastings at a price of around $8 each.
Yes u can, they sell the xtra cards inside the park just have to ask which booths

I went last week and I have to say they have to up the boysenberry flavor on the food. It was a little disappointing. Nothing we tried tasted like boysenberry
Agreed! The first two festivals last year after lockdown had amazing food. That’s why we came back. Unfortunately, the food has been going down in quality
