    Its always a good time at Northlandz. Glad to see you finally made it Jacob. We've been there several times. Everytime you go you notice something you missed the time before. Once you get into model railroading it becomes a fun addiction. We have 50 to 60 years of models ourselves.

    Awesome ! I'm glad you finally made it here. I remember when this place was first open in 1997 and saw it on a morning talk show "Breakfast Time" on FX that featured a worm puppet as one of the hosts along with Tom Bergeron. This place is almost as cool as the Roadside America layout was. Long R.I.P. Roadside America. I'm so glad you and Adam got to document before it went away.

    Oh wow, this is about 20 minutes away from me! The new owners have put a lot of work into this and it shows! After the creator passed, a lot of it fell into disrepair (I see you, Little Girl Gulch) and a lot of disrespectful guests threw trash into the displays. I haven't been back in a few years but I think it's definitely worth revisiting! Thanks for coming through the area, I hope you had a great time!

    Love seeing trains 🚂 it reminds me of my Dad he was an engineer for Santa Fe until he retired. He then went on to be a engineer for Union Pacific.. i use to go to work all the time with him and ride the trains growing up miss those times with him. I also use to have a lot of the porcelain dolls but unfortunately they got stolen. I use to also love the Smurfs i had a collection of them as well I even had a Smurf record.

    I absolutely love seeing model train villages. As a youth I always wanted to start one myself but I quickly realized how expensive the hobby gets. Same goes for the ceramic Christmas villages. I love them but it's a hobby that can quickly cost a lot of money. Thanks for taking us along with you, Jacob!

    That place is amazing. I have always been fascinated by miniatures ever since I was a kid, and I always wanted to build my own miniature town. No idea why, I'm just weird that way. When I was seven years old, I made a map of it that took up the entire dining room table. I remember being very put out when I had to move it for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but it did give me an excuse to move things around. Also, I have no idea who the other blonde doll was, but I'm positive the one in black was Mae West.

    Thanks for taking us along. I always wanted to visit this display. I have heard it is great to see. You can see the man who built it took care to make the many scenes. One thing I was surprised to see was how short the trains they were running. With all that trackage I would think thy would want to feature big long freight trains. It also was nice they had all those doll scenes that would help keep interest from families that come and only some that like trains that way it helps entertain other family members while the others can enjoy the trains.

    The stress on the motors of these toy trains running all day long means they need replacing evey few months and sometimes weeks. The amount if maintainace and cost needed on these trains and displays to keep then running can be very easily underestimated.

    I don’t know how there can be two world records for the largest miniature railroad museum but in Germany / Hamburg is the Miniatur Wunderland that has the same title but maybe newer I guess?

    • @Krayt01
      @Krayt01 14 дней назад +1

      There could be several records at the same time. It depends on how you define "biggest". I think the one in Germany is the biggest in terms of tracks. All in all, they have the longest railway line. I guess Northlandz seems to have got the record because they have the biggest facility in terms of area.

    I"ve seen a NOT of layouts in the US....but nothing to the level of this one. It's a bit weak on animation...but MORE THAN MAKES up for it in VASTNESS and absolute incredible landscape MODELING. Perhaps the finest, I"ve EVER seen. Amazing! If you do like lots of animation, check out the town of Strasburg, PA as there are MULTIPLE railroad exhibits to see including an incredible model layout in the town (I forget the name of the model layout).
