You rock! Thanks for all the amazing videos you made this year. I hope you will have a lot of gains AND more views coming year. You are one of the biggest ambassadors of the weightlifting sport! Have an awesome 2019!

You're gonna hit a 180 kg snatch in this life for sure. Though I'd think it would be helpful for you to do an off season bulking diet, with pull ups and shoulder press included in your program
Hi, I'm recently certified as a USAW L1 coach, what advice do you have for new coaches looking to improve themselves and their athletes? I've thought about getting coached by someone else who has experience and then distilling that through my own coaching kinda like you're doing with Max. Any advice would be awesome. Thanks!
Great lifting. I see you widen your grip on the bar oscillation after the clean prior to the jerk, is this covered in a video at all? I’m also tall and have all sorts of dramas with my jerk and wonder if your technique may help. Great channel, strong following over here in the UK. Also, terrific moustache old chap!
It doesn't require as much bar elevation to stick the jerk, and most people find it easier to get the bar behind their head with a slightly wider grip. Trade-off being that you cant use as much pressing power do push yourself under the bar.
Hi Zack, love your content. Question, how tall are you and how did you find your grip width for jerking? Do you also use this wide grip for push presses?
What do you think about in the seconds before you start your pull? Whenever I lift, I feel like 95% of the result of the lift is based on where my mind is at before I start. Would love to hear your thoughts on this and more on the mental aspect of lifting as well!
And I see you have a video on the mental game! Would still be interested to hear your thoughts on the mental preparation before you step up to the bar and before you start the pull.
Amazing and inspiring content again ! Congrats ! Ps : was your jerk grip always so wide? Could you maybe do a video on jerk grip readjustments based on athlete characteristics please ?
love watching your videos. but I noticed you grip wide in the jerk. Is that something new you did? It doesn't look as solid overhead as I remember. Either way keep it up.
Excellent work Zack, the most important is that you don't give in and you can really put a buck where you mouth is 😉, I admire you for your persistence, keep up the good job you are doing mate, thumbs up
My coach had them just do stand ups. So do basically a snatch deadlift with a shoulder shrug and straight arms then do a snatch right after. A lot of its just going to be drilling it into your head with repitions. Also doing pulls can help just really focus on not pulling with your arms until you've made hip contact.
Nice improvements, technique is also looking sharper since before btw. For that training CnJ did you really warm up 70-120-140 with powers and push presses and then moved on the actual movement from 150, or did you just show us that?
@@zacktelander Nice, I feel that would not drill the correct technique for me or warm my knees up, so I would put one full clean and jerk in there, but it definitely works for you, so keep up the good work and hard training. Thanks for the reply.
knee sleeves, stretching, proper form, knowing when to take it easy, I had a knee pain a few months ago that would send a shock from my knee to my ankle anytime I bottomed out on a heavy clean or squat. So for a few weeks I only power cleaned and I did pin squats to remove the stress from bouncing in the hole but still allow me to squat. Its still not perfect and im still doing pin squats but im back to being able to do singles at my max weight in cleans with no pain.
Zack, why most lifters have their bar jump on the shoulders, when they stand up from the clean?(you included) I don't have such thing. Am I doing something wrong?
well theres nothing wrong with either way. watch lu xiaojun. he doesn't bounce the bar at all out of the clean. the difference comes from the amount of energy your putting it into the stand up. people like zack, myself and a lot of other people use the momentum from the standup to raise the bar enough to adjust our hands. People like lu and you are a bit more conservative and controlled on the stand up which keeps the bar from lifting off your shoulder. its personal preference honestly. If I choose to hold hook grip on my clean the bar doesn't rise off my shoulders because I don't need it too. but I tend to release my grip on the turnover because it feels better and it doesn't hinder my lift.
I have some dull pain in my rotator cuffs the day after after overhead squatting for the first time. I s this normal or is it because my form is incorrect?
are you used to snatcning or holding weight over your head in that position? If not how heavy did you go and did it feel uncomfortable. Given its your first time some discomfort is common since itll work muscles that haven't worked before. Id say work on your position, stretch your shoulders well every day if not twice a day and don't rush adding weight. if the pain gets worse its likely your doing something wrong and need to adjust or rest it. Without actually seeing your lifts its hard to say that for sure though.
