What description is that? Man already said the stop was because his face was that of a black male and unfamiliar. "You fit the description" is a lie many officers tell to justify probable cause and only should be accepted by the public if they show the description that matches goes beyond race/gender. And you can see why because it its precisely the lie you want to him tell instead of him being directly honest in his racial profiling like he is here.

Its one thing selling weed, MDMA, Cocaine etc but bring that dirty crack and smack, isn't helping anyone and 9 times out of 10, they dont respect their vulnerable custom anyway. They look and treat them like crap. More of them need to be stopped. If they dont have large knives or guns, then most times its dangerous drugs cut with crap.

Apparently, fitting a description of a suspect of an alleged crime, and then having conveyed said description by "investigating" officer, is now "racist" - even if at the time, "investigating" officer may be prepared to explain their side of the story - when they haven't YET had the opportunity - to explain their side of the story to the accused.

Or at they going off a description that makes him more likely to be a suspect than just being a black male? I want to see the evidence. Unfortunately Cambridgeshire Police never reported the results of the investigation that I'm aware.

This is terrible. He needs to be stopping only Vietnamese women, and anyone else who would not fit the profile of the people who are likely to look and act the way that the ones committing the crimes would. Even better here in the US we are trying to legalize crime so these awkward conversations don’t take place.

It would’ve been easier to just ask for ID, see he lives there and send him on his way, rather than stating he’s stopping all black people which wouldn’t do anything for him since most drug dealers aren’t just driving around but walking in a certain area; and if it is the case that they’re in the neighborhood then sorry but your (the officers) white counterparts are the problem, the black men he thinks are the problem would leave of there was no buyers.

From what i understand the officer stopped him because he matched a description of another suspects who appeat to be black. I don’t see any racism here, police officer seems pretty respectful.
No, the officer told him his face was unfamiliar . The only description he met was that he was black. If you have other evidence post it the quote showing the officer saw this man and his hair style , eyes, level of darkness of his skin, and his maybe a shirt that he might have seen him wearing the car matches a known description.

Once in my younger years in the 90’s in Antwerp/Belgium in the hood I was stopped by the gendarmes as usual for an ID control (regular daily routine stuff when you’re outside as an migrant) but than he asked to jump in and go with them to the station I said for what what are you accusing me with are you arresting me he said no not at all I just need some couple of So called”suspects”to stand in the line for identifying a perpetrator by an old lady I said you’re story gets better and better how can I be sure she doesn’t points at me bc we all look the same in their(white folks) eyes and even if she’s not sure she will regardless point at someone just to make someone pay than he said i know it’s not you that’s why I’m asking you kindly for your cooperation so I can go further with the investigation and he promised me even if she points at me by luck he won’t bite it all took 10 min.and at the end he kept he’s word

If I'm asked to patrol an area I've been patroling for a few months or years and I'm used to catching a predominant race dealing drugs in this particular area and he looked suspicious I will also interrogate him, not detain him. point blank. I want no fxxking drugs in my area I got children I rather them not see it or experience it If I can help it. The Police man is doing what he is supposed to do and he is being ohnest on why he stopped him....like wtf.

This is an ethical dilemma. If a certain minority commits the most crimes, is it OK to be extra vigilant towards them?
One might argue yes, because the chance of finding a perpetrator is higher.
One might argue no, because if you look for faults in a certain group, you will find more wrongs in that group because you looked for more. That would become circular reasoning.
One might argue no, because every person is an individual who has the right to be treated equally, no matter his race, gender, religion or ethnicity.
One might argue no, because people from said community will face more difficulties due to discrimination and will feel resentment against society. That discrimination (e.g. finding a job) leads to hardships in life, which results in more wrongdoing (e.g. theft). This is a vicious circle; a loop that will not end.

I think this police officer, was being honest, if he were being racist.. he'd have hid behind some other excuse.
However, if he is looking for someone in particular, as someone else commented he should have said.
It is not fair to stop someone for just for being black.. even if he thinks it is the case that more black people deal drugs than other races.
That's pre-judging people, and even if this officer is conscious of this or not... this is a type of prejudice!
Take it from someone who has had 'decades' of problems with the police, not all of them... but too many turn up to a situation and judge this on superficial terms.

He's not saying he's just stopping him because he's black, he's saying that the stopped guy matches the general experience of officers in the area dealing with drug dealers.
I'm pretty sure that grounds to search have to be based on specific grounds tho, not general grounds. Like, if there was a report of a person or persons apparently selling drugs that day and the subject matched the description.
And I don't think it's racist. It may be insufficient grounds, or inadequate grounds, but I don't have any reason to believe that it's motivated by racial hatred or even racial stereotypes. If, on his experience, it's a mostly non-black neighbourhood and/or there's a lot of young black male drug dealers in the area, that is not, in and of itself, a racist thing and acting on it is not racist. It can be hard to tell if there's racism in any given situation, but there is a difference. The fact that he's trying to openly articulate his grounds means that he's acting in good faith.
